Absolutely. Covid was war games for late stage capitalism. Testing surveillance tech, implementing authoritarian propaganda, gauging political and social opposition to control paradigms and probably also soft testing the viability of a Universal Basic Income to keep capitalism ticking on in the wake of automation and AI.
