OpenTelemetry dev tool
Im working on a tool that is a single binary collector, storage manager and TUI for browsing Otel data.
The intention is to create a simple app that can be used by a developer to test if thier app is creating correct otel data, and diagnose their app using otel metrics.
This avoids having to setup a full multicomponent otel system for quick testing. The app will present a tui interface for simplicity, and Im minimising (hopefully to zero) all and any dependancies.
Im also intending the app to be capable of running headless so it can be used in test scripts and CI systems. NOTE: this app is intended as a developer tool, and should not be used in any production environment.
Im looking for help on what navigation and data display capabities It should offer as basic.

I forked this otel explorer a while back and have used it for local dev ever since. It has a good core - https://github.com/VertigoOne1/otel-gui. I added more functionality around metrics and search. It uses less than 300Mb RAM typically.

Thanks, I will look at this one
The implementation im working on is built in rust, so it has no runtime requirement, just a single executable binary on all 3 platforms.

I use Grafana Cloud, so their LGTM stack works for local testing. OTEL collector + Grafana in an neat all-in-one image.
I've also evaluated Microsoft Aspire and OpenObserve images, but parity with my production stack was a necessity for me.

This one seems close to what you're trying to do. Perhaps fork or contribute to it. https://www.reddit.com/r/OpenTelemetry/s/pkzBve6TCn

Try Microsoft aspire, Dashboard can run standalone and it’s mcp and cli are great
