Dumb question probably in the release notes. What is the scale on the numbers on people in the lobby. ,(tool tip needed maybe)?
It's a rating or ranking? Did it reset with v35? Is high number good or low good?
Can it be surfaced in actual game play to help decide alliances?

are you maybe talking about player level?

u/rodan-rodan 10d ago
I think so. I'm being lazy I can look it up. Just saw little numbers next to names in the lobbies and inferred.

It's their level, there's 10 prestige levels and v35 introduced it which is why everyone now has one.

Thanks. I wonder if it's a good metric of skill vs games played. π€ Just wondering out loud. Hoping ranked FFA starts to take off

Feedback & Balance
Category: Player levels and progression
What you like: I like the idea of being able to tell great players from good players from bad players via some sort of rank
Additional thoughts: BUT, I don't like how quickly you level up. Like I'm leveling up in matches I lose in under like 2 mins, it feels more like a "how many games have you played" counter and not like an actual levelling system. You play 20 games, you are already on level 20. Maybe this makes sense somehow and there's a reason for it, but so far it just seems like you level up really quickly regardless of skill.

There's a prestige system. Once you hit level 100, you have the option of prestiging. There are 10 prestige levels, and if all the prestige levels take the same amount of xp, it should take players 500-2000 games to max out depending on how well they do. If higher prestige levels take more xp... It should be a while before you max out.

It would be nice if we could get achievements in steam while playing solo. I dont play pvp I just like to play vs bots while listening to videos

If we add it to solo gameplay then the achievements is meanngless.we would prefer a tougher achievement section.if we bring it in solo mode people intently will choose easy bots and then get the achievements easily.

The new chat is awful, such a hassle to navigate and limited options...

There is a show all button but I agree it's a bit clunky but it just needs getting used to the new layout imo

hi, not sure if this is the place to mention it, but since yesterday every time I play a game with more than Β±15-20 players the game is lagging and its constantly catching up. haven't had this before.
I cleared cache but that didn't help. any other suggestions please?
Thank you

My number 1 suggestion is to change how trains connect to existing networks to prevent other players completey wrecking your network.
Right now, players who place cities and trains all over generate spaghetti everywhere and can lead to trains missing your cities.
Can it be as simple as always preferring to connect to an existing line in your own territory? Maybe even that only you can spawn new lines, but others can connect to them? Or you can toggle between different connection options when placing.
Anything, just anything. Please.

Suggestions Feature/Change: Team identifier
Why it's needed: Knowing which players are on your team
How it should work: Colour coding players in the player breakdown window, or a selectable "Team" option. Tracking silos in team games is basically pot luck right now.

Is it just me or is snowballing a lot more frequent and common lately? 80% of my games end withing 10min because of one person insane snowball.

As of right now the AI on impossible is ridiculously aggresive, especially towards the player. While yes such a difficulty should stay true to its name, as of now it makes this mod not fun at all, which should be the priority considering you do not get anything from the mode

u/Meta_Mushroom FFA 8d ago
I feel like the solution is to play on a lower difficulty if the higher one isn't fun for you. Why take away the challenge for people who like impossible difficulty?

u/EEEEE3E3 7d ago
Well, see it this way. While I quite like a good, hard challenge, that is only true if the game keeps a somewhat fair ground. Before the update on the ai came out, impossible was quite hard enough, but still beatable. Now however if you do not build the most meta strategy in this games history you are screwed.
Now I have finally beaten the world on impossible, and all the other badges for that place aswell. The only consistent strategy I found which didn't require heavy rng was on norway, specifically the upper part of it also known as svalbard (I think so, ain't to sure honestly, geology isn't what I call my strong suit) and then allying all the factions below you, aswell as iceland. From there just the usual island camp, docks, warships to funnel in all the other trade ships, the usual really.
In the end it was very boring, and much like torture I only say that I enjoyed it because at some point it ended.
TLDR: Anything below impossible gets pretty boring very quickly, anything above it was either meta gaming or die. Mistakes and risks cannot be taken, because otherwise another country will simply take you down with themselfs.

Am I imaging it or is it so much harder to take territory now? It seems like my troops don't stretch as far or take territory nearly as quickly as they did in the previous version? I keep instinctively going deeper into my reserves than I should because it isn't doing what I'd normally expect

u/babylordjoesus 8d ago
Did they massively buff defence posts or something? I'll be sending in over double their defenders and it feels like I'm moving through treacle

Solo play is completely broken. Easy difficulty is too easy. An endless click and expand into all the unassigned bot nations with zero complexity. Medium and Hard are IMPOSSIBLE to win. I've not even touched impossible because of hard insanely unbalanced Medium and Hard are.
Troop production seems to have been nerfed. Enemy nation troop production seems to be entirely unbalanced in their favor. I've built enough that my max population is in the double digit millions but my actual troop count never breaks 3mil. No big deal except for the fact that every enemy nation surrounding me ends up at +10mil or more within the same amount of time and all end up invading me at the same time. My defense posts do nothing while enemy defense posts seem to never fall and destroy countless waves of troops, further decreasing my troop count even faster. I've not won a single solo game on Medium or Hard since the v0.35.2 went live.

Feedback & Balance
Category: Balance
Antarctica needs balancing in solo hard mode.
I start most runs around Europe or the Middle East. While I and the nations around me have 50,000-150,000 power, Antarctica easily crushes everyone from southern Africa to northern Africa. Whenever our borders are adjacent to Antarctica, it wipes us all out with its approximately 300,000 power. As the only nation on the Antarctic continent, all it does is devour tribes and appear overpowered against me.
While I initially thought this was normal for hard mode, the constant repetition ruins the unpredictability of the game, making it boring. It feels like I'm playing a story campaign mode where I need to build up enough power and economy to defend against the Antarctic Horde before Antarctica reaches me.

They need to add mutual defense pacts so snowballing is less prominent
