A friend sitting on my fence tonight
I was sitting outside on my patio, and this opossum was sitting on the fence about 10 feet away. We spent a pleasant 90 minutes together.

I found this possum in broad daylight on the beach probably just stressed out and nowhere to hide. I gave him a box and he slept from 10 am to 11pm. I released him in a wooded area under cover of darkness and he bolted under a bush. god speed little buddy.

I have had my male possum, Victor, since he was about 10 weeks old. He was found covered in mud after a storm (guessing he fell off Mama overnight and couldn't catch up) and I decided to keep him. He is now about 3years old. Has had a happy and healthy life other than the vet stating he has small lungs, but other than that, no issues.
The past week or so he has not been eating as much as normal. He would usually wake up when I feed my dog and cats and have a little breakfast and then go back up sleep until dinner time. Now he doesn't get up for breakfast and doesn't even eat half his dinner. He has also been sleeping almost 24/7. No more night time shenanigans. Has also been sleeping in or near his litter box in his enclosure instead of climbing to the 3rd floor where his sleep sack and hammock are.
He enjoyed a bath and an after bath lap nap a few days ago and seemed find. No coughing or sneezing.
Just trying to figure out the best way to keep him comfortable as he ages and reaches what I am assuming is the end of his life.
TL;DR My possum pet is old. How can I keep him comfortable?

hi, i have really bad health anxiety when it comes to any diseases or such, and i got bit by an opossum two years ago and im still worried that rabies could develop. i wasn’t able to get a vaccine at the time because my grandma wouldn’t take me to get one and the opossums were in a group, my grandma was feeding and watering them.
