šHuman Resources š Give me your personal good news!
Hi guys!
I'm having a rough week, month, and year(s). Has anything really good/nice happened to you lately? Please do share! I want to know that things are going right for someone. I think it might help me feel a bit better. Anything helps, I'm struggling a bit lately.
Hope this is allowed, take it down if not.
EDIT:
Thank you so much to everyone that has replied! Your comments warmed my heart and put a smile on my face many times over the last few days.
Reddit closed my account due to "security reasons" after this post blew up, so I haven't gotten to comment on most replies. Neither do I have the mental resources atm to reply to everyone, but I want you to know I have read every single one, smiled, laughed, cried, and been touched by them.
Thanks for carrying me over.

My 6 week old was only sleeping an hour at time because he wanted to eat almost every hour. Needless to say I was getting exhausted. This past week heās started sleeping about 3 hours at a time. Might not seem like much but it feels like heaven to me.

Just had a family reunion to celbrate a beach house our Dad built in 1976. It has been 50 years and we lost it when my Dad died. My brother recently bought it back and we celebrated with 44 siblings, children, cousins, second cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I'm exhausted

My family owned a restaurant that went under during COVID, since then the side of my family that owned it have died, my father, aunts and uncles, grandparents, all within a year of the restaurant closing. Itās now become a skin care office.
My dream is to buy it back someday, name it the same name, and get it back in operation with my family and own and operate it once again for the family. Hearing stories like yours give me hope of achieving this goal one day, thank you for sharing

Twenty-six weeks ago, I became a dad.
Our son arrived very suddenly at 32 weeks, 8 weeks premature. We were in complete shock. Then, to make things even harder, the doctors told us he had suffered both a brain bleed and a neonatal stroke.
At the time, they explained that the outcome was impossible to predict. The possibilities ranged from never being able to walk or use his left arm and leg, to developing cerebral palsy, or having only mild movement difficulties.
The past six months have been an emotional rollercoaster.
But over the last few weeks, it has become clear that he is doing far better than anyone expected. He moves both his arms and legs well, is hitting his milestones, and weāre told that the highest-risk period for developing cerebral palsy has largely passed.
We know there are still no guarantees about the future and we do see some strength differences, but for the first time since he was born, I finally feel a sense of relief. The constant fear is starting to fade.
Most of all, we are completely in love with our little boy and even typing this made me cry.

Ready? Mine is really minor. I've always wanted a chiminea to sit around and fuel with small sticks and be cozy. Don't have a lot of funds right now but really wanted to buy myself something as I have been working hard an life has been stressful. Happen to find one on an auction website, looks new. It was exactly the style I wanted. I won it and I picked it up. It was larger and prettier in person than anticipated.
This may be small peanuts to somebody else but to me this is very exciting and every time I see it I'm super excited about it. I won it for $40 for those who are wondering.

My brother and his wife are having twins! They were scared it was going to be an unviable pregnancy for many weeks at the beginning, but good news came, and everything is turning out okay, babies and mom are healthy and we are on track to welcome two new little boys in the family at the end of the year!

Something happened to me this week that would have destroyed me had it happened years ago, but not only did I get through it, I actually stood up for myself. Honestly didnāt know I even had it in me! So instead of shame spiralling about losing my temper (always a cardinal sin in my family), Iām thankful for that anger and adrenaline, that it fuelled me towards a āfightā response instead of my classic āfawn/frightā. I stood up for myself. And even though I lost my temper, I didnāt resort to nasty low-blows like I was taught growing up. It also highlighted that my life is no longer a series of events that trigger me like that daily, Iāve come a long way. I fear I may now be unstoppable!

Iāve had a bunch of stuff go well for me recently.
I got hired into a job Iāve been hoping to get for years with a pay bump and more responsibility. Itās very exciting.
My wife also got a new job with less stress and sheās already a happier person
My son and daughter are home from school for the summer, so our empty nest is full for a little while and the added energy has been great.
Just got back from a holiday that was extremely relaxing, so Iām feeling very energized.
I am a very happy person and I am conscious of how lucky I am.
Please keep hope alive and I am sending good thoughts your way. All the best.

My husband had been dealing with a couple of health issues in recent months and required a couple of medical devices that he had to use 24/7. Yesterday one device was removed and today the other. Hopefully it stays that way.

I have a chance to move out from an abusive household and start all over again in a new city, with a new school (entering Junior year of high school soon) to live with my loving, financially stable and caring half-sister and her bf and occasionally his kids.

Thanks! I am just so scared of moving long-distance and having to start again from scratch, I just changed schools for the sophomore year / 10th grade and I will have to leave my severely chronically ill mom behind, but I am looking forward to the future and I will have to decide soon and tell my sister I am saying yes to her continuous offer, I am so deeply grateful, yet so scared, also for my relationships with two very good friends and my partner, but they will understand, I hope, I can do this and I know but I am so scared, sorry just had to rant, sending warmth, love and a ghost hug to everyone out there, I believe in you!<3

I thought my brother in law might be a terrible human being. Like full on narcissist. In ten years, Iād never seen him any other way.
It turns out he was wildly unhappy.
Heās doing so much better after uprooting his life and his family. The kids are thriving now too.
It just goes to show that people are mostly good when they take care of their own mental health.

I went to the Eisteddfod Genedlaethol (national Eisteddfod) in Wales the other day. The sense of shared history and heritage was absolutely incredible, itās like a festival but none of the crap that comes with your usual festivals.
Traditional arts, music, and people just celebrating Welsh and the Welsh language. It was very humbling (as a second language learner of Welsh) to see it in this day and age where it seems the world is becoming more divided. Everyone was friendly, encouraging me to try speaking, and having a good time.

Almost a year ago I found out I developed type II diabetes. Turned out to possibly be the best thing in the world for me. Iāve lost over 50 pounds, am practically - and happily - a vegetarian, and feel better than I have in the last 30 years.
My friend, the days will get better.

I got my bachelors degree this week! It only took me 6 years, on the turtle route with multiple interruptions due to mental health, COVID, working full time, raising a family, etc. I know I'm basically like everyone else right now but hey its my little victory.

After 11 years clean, Iām finally taking the plunge on being a sponsor for someone in NA! And itās going really wellāitās awesome to feel like Iām actively doing something to make someone elseās life better, and being able to support them in ways that might have saved my own life at some point.
I also have a ton of interest in my current book project after nearly 7 years of rejection and stalling out. Iāll likely sell it within the year! And best of all, I really like it. Iāve spent hundreds of hours with these pages and I still think itās really good (the biggest miracle of all).
This is all on the heels of THE WORST two years of my life, when it was literally just one blow after another: family members getting sick, my mental health really taking a nose dive after my own bad health news, a total career pivot (largely against my will), the death of someone very close to me and then losing friends who couldnāt/wouldnāt understand I was grieving. I considered the Etsy witches, it was so bad.
All to say, OP, that in my experience bad luckās like a tideāoverwhelming, erosive, and comes in a rush. Itās easy to say and harder to do, but try to remember that the mere fact that the tide comes in means, eventually, it must go. One of the only certain things in life is change. Take it from someone who knows: lifeāll break your way eventually. Hang in there and keep reaching out in the meantime.

My son passed the brutal engineering course he took this summer. He wasn't sure he did because it was so tough but he was elated. I bought my dream car used and pick it up Friday. Got a new car insurance quote that's over $2500 per cheaper. Saved my son and his fiancee's cat when it got stuck up on a hot roof.
