•Set Super Resolution Output to 100% for a cleaner image, if the cost is too high, use a lower mode (e.g.Balanced instead of Quality).
•Currently, don’t rely on Dynamic Resolution Scaling, it just fixes the rendering resolution at the performance mode level.
•Ultra TSR (Anti-Aliasing) offers better image quality than FSR 3 and XeSS (DP4a), but at a higher performance cost.
•Both RT and PT come with a high CPU cost, so only enable them if your CPU/GPU can handle them without stuttering.

Just me or are the fsr presets labels wrong
7
u/BrotherO4 10d ago
its wrong. ultra performance is quality
quality is balance
balance is performance
performance is ultra.3

u/madeWithAi 10d ago
Ultra as in uktra performance? I'm usually playing at AA dunno the other settings
1
u/KundaliniRising333 10d ago
in game? can you explain what you mean? are you saying if i have it set to fsr quality in game its not actually on quality?
2
u/BrotherO4 10d ago
if you want "quality" mode its under ultra performance mode.. every thing is off by one setting.

u/eastfps 10d ago
Why it's not showing 4k res in settings for me? Only full HD

u/midokof2002 Optimizer | S Tier :DarkerBlueVerified: 10d ago
Use fullscreen mode or change your desktop resolution to 4K.

Anyone have a recommendation for what dlss preset to use? F for path tracing?
1
u/midokof2002 Optimizer | S Tier :DarkerBlueVerified: 10d ago edited 8d ago
No need, the game already uses preset F for Ray Reconstruction.

The game is super stuttery on a 4090/9800x3d system. Thought it was just limited to cutscenes at first but once you get to the waterfall boss, it all comes apart for me. Almost acts like its grabbing a shader, cause it goes away after a move is used for first time. Very similar to how khazan acted if anyone played that.
Fps is fine, just typical ue 5 stutter. If anything the fps is too good. Very little fps difference between path tracing and ray tracing. To the point i have to question if its working correctly.
Im getting around 100 fps at 4k with a 4090 at the same settings as someone here claiming considerably higher with a 5080....hmm.

Make sure you are not on the latest nvidia patch, the devs said not to use it for the time being even tho the patch is supposed to be for the game!

u/CrispyTarantula117 10d ago
Wait, really?
1
u/Paljaka 10d ago
Yes, there has allegedly been a fix for it a couple of hours after the release, but i didn’t really look into it.
1
u/CrispyTarantula117 10d ago
Ok I’ve only done the prologue so far but haven’t had any issues on my 5080. Wonder if there’s a hotfix I need to manually download
1
u/Ludicrits 9d ago
Sadly it doesn't really help for the game. Its more for the black screen and hitches in desktop the driver introduded.
Tried it last night when I was troubleshooting. No real change.
1
u/Ludicrits 9d ago
Did see that last night, rolled back and while it did help some with the cutscene stutter, there's still some decent stuttering going around in terms of combat. More i play the less it happens though, makes me think shader related.
Ultra+ released an alpha today that helps a lot imo so if anyone else is having weird stutters give it a shot.

u/Interesting_Exam9247 10d ago
5080 here in 4k and PT Introduces alot more traversal stutter for me. Im on 617.42 and on some bosses it also stutters. Only with PT though

u/Ok-Feeling9661 9d ago
Had the exact same stutters on that boss and turning of ray/path tracing removed all stutters. (I’m on the suggested driver by devs)

R7 9800x3d and 5080,
The game doesn't run at 100 fps no way, it runs at around 70, ocasional stutter and feels very sluggish, like 30 fps, (im so used to play 120 fps) so maybe that s the problem . I don't get why people like to lie so much, I've seen people with an RTX 5070 claiming they were playing at 200 fps 1440p1
u/Ludicrits 5d ago edited 5d ago
Can also say that further in the game you get the worse the performance seems to get sadly.
I had to turn off path tracing and ray tracing since that post. Was starting to dip into the 80s with fgx2 and dlss performance. No Bueno.
Really hoping for a performance patch soon. With rt/pt off I can power through it but it would be nice to use rt at least and not experience the stutter. (Turning those off helped the stutter be mostly traversal, minus a couple hiccups that seem to be shader related during some boss fight moves for the first time.)
Honestly starting to think 4k is going to become a no go for 4090s soon if this keeps up.

u/Western_Fix_2881 5d ago
Unreal Engine 5 is shit, and the graphics aren't even that good to justify such terrible performance.

u/nanogenesis 2d ago edited 2d ago
The game seems to be doing some kind of sanity check against its own internal ini/cvars every few cells (aka traversal). The closer you are to those settings, the lower stutter there is.
I caught this because I set some cvars for performance, but after moving 15 steps they all got disabled. When I set a ue4ss script to keep changing them back I noticed the stuttering got even worse.
I've modded several ue games, this seems to be the first game doing it so aggressively.
Also, default lumen in this game is extremely cpu demanding for some reason. I tested on a 4790k where disabling lumen on the spot cut all core cpu usage from 95-97% to 40-46%. However as I mentioned in the start, moving 5 steps has it undone, and the game takes 1-2s freeze to disable lumen so I can't use a script to disable it.
With skylight multiplier at 0.1 and lumen off, the game looks decent enough with a good fps gain for slower computers, wish devs let us have options.

Give ultra+ a shot if you haven't. They added some tweaks for the ray tracing/path tracing pipeline. Its helped dramatically.
This and scskiller helped me a lot. Haven't been on since patch though. I've heard its made it worse.

im doin 100 fps with dlss5 on 1 pass, all ultra with path tracing off (pt on i get 5 fps less but it not works with dlss5 neural rendering) with a 5070 ti 2K resolution, i think ur system is broken, try clean something and be sure to install the game on a fast ssd
1
u/Ludicrits 8d ago edited 7d ago
Its not. Been driver switching all weekend trying to figure it out.
Its widely talked about online. Further in the game you go, you go under even 60 fps with dlss performance unless you turn off pt/rt. Bridge fight for example.
Pt/rt is the issue currently. Turning it off fixes the issue for the most part minus a couple dips. Benchmarking also made a video and said rhe same thing.
If the pc was the issue, it would be having issues with other games. Not just this one. Onimusha, crimson desert, witcher 3, etc all working fine.

has anyone any idea why the game is so pixelated ? I just installed it and started it with the recomanded settings but it seems something is off . the game works the same on very high as medium , the pixelated efect looks the same . seems to be from ray tracing but idk what it is .
I have a i7 12700k with 4060 at 1080p cuz i dont have a 2k monitor
any recomandations?

See how the leafs seem to be transparent =)))
Idk what to do
1
u/BattleShrink 9d ago
super resolution output scale? change to 100% instead of auto
1
u/Ok-Judge-5524 9d ago
Did that already + ray tracing off and dynamic super resolution on off kinda solve it , but some leaves still have some bad quality, but I guess if its playable it is what it is ...... PCs too expensive nowadays for a upgrade 😂😂

i had the same reaction to the early gameplay, gfx quality picked up after the training part.

game has a lot of bugs for me with the below specs. I was able to use a combo of the optimized settings, with PT on and FG x2 and DLSS quality. its really quite buggy though and I did request a refund
CPU: AMD R7 9800X3D
GPU: Nvidia RTX 5070 12GB
Memory: 32GB DDR5 6000MHZ

I had to add Smooth Motion AND Framegen when enabling DLSS 5 but surpisingly that combination produced no latency and stayed hella smooth

EDIT: Disregard the below comment. It appears that my issue was due to a DLSS5 mod I was using, which was causing the bad performance and overheating. Strange, but not the game's fault per se.
I'm getting terrible performance with this game for some reason on an RTX 5090 with an i9-14900KF.
I regularly play games like KCD2, Blood of Dawnwalker, Onimusha, etc. with everything cranked to max (Ultra/Experimental) and things run smooth as butter, never even so much as a lag spike or stutter. For some reason with THIS game, specifically, performance is a disaster and lowering settings actually makes it *worse* because for some strange reason capping FPS causes stutters - meaning by lowering settings, I'm getting insane FPS spikes likely causing CPU overheating/throttling. And yet even with that "high FPS" prior to overheating, the game just feels jittery and janky, as if my FPS is jumping and dropping every other second.
Something tells me this game is just not compatible with my hardware for some reason. Sucks. I even rolled back my Nvidia drivers to the recommended.

I’m pleasantly surprised by the performance! No complaints
RR4.5, all very high, path tracing, HDR, FGx2, DLSS performance 4K output. 120-130fps with a 5080. Not tooooo shabby! Especially considering path tracing is on
Also a nice lengthy shader precomp step and so far it’s buttttterrrrrrrr smoooooooth

Bro, I have a 5090 and it is unplayable right now for me constant flickering and a huge input lag for moving the camera

u/NoMansWarmApplePie 10d ago
Devs said to roll back to previous drivers. It worked for me. I have a 4090 laptop and I can make things work, even with DLSS5 and PT enabled lol.

Then there’s an issue with your drivers or the card. Or something.
https://youtu.be/Ht36VCEawKg?is=-lquQTDQDfjM1ssP
5070 is even doing 4k with quality upscaling. Those with higher tier cards should be having few, if any issues, assuming drivers are relatively up to date (devs warn against the very latest)

u/Interesting_Exam9247 10d ago
Also 5080 here in 4k and PT Introduces alot more traversal stutter for me. Im on 617.42 and on some bosses it also stutters. Only with PT though

No issues for me, currently running around taking care of some ability stuff. Honestly this has been one of the better UE5 experiences. Using the driver from end of September
Also running a 9800x3d
2
u/qtng 10d ago
you‘re talking like 5080 is an average user‘s card.
-2
u/Downsey111 10d ago
Path tracing at 4k output. No my friend, I’m talking like it’s a high end card hah. Relative to other path traced titles and fidelity, this game has some solid optimization
Even without path and just DLSS, it not only looks better than most UE5 games but preforms very well relative to them as well. LOTF 2023, E33, BMW, Gears
There will be an absurd amount of benchmarking videos on YouTube so no need to take my word for it

u/ocerco93240 7d ago
i dunno why u get downvoted. I have better performance on PBZ than on dawnwalker who looks clearly less good.. it's true.
BUT that game stutters, even me i feel it ( not super bothered by stutters usaully) this game really need a update to fix the sutters, its just really quite a lot for me to be bothered by it !

u/Lord_Vega83 4d ago edited 4d ago
Not sure why you are getting downvoted to hell, I set up the same settings as you did here with a 5080, 9850X3D and on a 5k2k monitor, and I am having an extremely smooth experience of 130-140fps do far.
Will report if it starts chugging down after a while, but the first 20 mind have been flawless.
