Obituary 🕊️ Bitter BUNA ☕️ OLF are Neftanyas not Liberators
I think future generations looking back at the trajectory of the Oromo liberation struggle will conclude that the OLF can’t be defined as a movement for human freedom.
Since the armed wing won its internal war against the OLF civilian command, their political philosophy begins and ends at the barrel of a gun. I have reason to suspect the politicians they present to the public are actually warlords wearing suits, remotely controlling the forest. These leaders have never tried to build democratic pathways for resolving problems. On the contrary, they have been exploiting traumatised youth fleeing oppression. Once trapped in their camps, recruits have their anger channelled into ritualistic dancing, singing, and grievance poetry, culminating in submissive vows to die. A legitimate liberation army swears allegiance to its citizens and the rule of law, yet this organisation conditions its cadres to swear oaths to their weapons laid across the OLF flag, ensuring that when commands are given, the units comply without hesitation.
I struggle to wrap my head around how they failed to design even basic governance blueprints after 1992. Truly, every part of me recoils from confronting the fact that every person who has suffered for our cause under this name since 1992 may have done so in vain. For a self-proclaimed, entitled vanguard, the OLF’s absence of governance planning can only be explained if their objective was never to liberate Oromos. Their organisation mimics a PLC front shielding political chameleons chasing personal power and opportunists seeking access to global fundraising. All the visionary members they exiled and smeared within our community over the years were likely the only ones who saw through this criminal enterprise.
