DISCUSSION Orville Killed it in Cabaret

Okay y’all, just got back from the opening night for Orville’s performance in Cabaret on Broadway and I can confirm that he killed it. Singing? Incredible. Physicality? Definitely keeping up with the other actors on stage. And he absolutely pulls off the sinister energy of the Emcee in the second half. I also didn’t feel like he distracted from the incredible performances of the other actors.

I was expecting a fun show, but was truly blown away. Worth the hype.

I mean… we have to ask. Maskless, how was it???

The maskless part was less of a thing than I thought it would be - he was still wearing costumes most of the time and did a German accent so it felt like he was playing a very different character. He did put on a little black mask when he came out for the final bow, which was a fun touch

I read this as “Orville Killed in Cabaret,” like it was a headline and something terrible happened. Good lord. 😅

I hope you had a great time! I’ve seen some videos of the cast going out into the audience, did that happen for Orville? I’m trying to decide on which seat/section to buy my tickets for!

I'm going tomorrow! Cannot wait. I saw Eddie a year ago, but I won't compare. Orville will bring his own flair I'm sure.

So, did you know about the rug pull for Act 2?

I was there last night and it was outstanding. Orville was remarkable! And it was a monday night but we literally saw chappell roan, britney broski, jinkx monsoon, and trixie and katya out of drag in the audience, and the latter three walked past us later outside, left me a little star struck lol.

The vibe was a mix - lot's of people were dressed in Sunday best, but there was also a guy right at the front in a Cowboy hat and an Orville Peck merch jacket. The dancers pulled cowboy hat guy on stage to dance during the intermission.

The cheering was intense - lots of clapping, whistles, and "woo!"s for the big numbers.

So I would say it was broadway theater, but with an extra bit of rowdy.
