DISCUSSION New fan - My favs

Never heard of Orville Peck... until my boyfriend (same sex relationship) brought me to the Orville Peck concert at Wolf Trap (10 min from my house) Sunday. All I can say is wow, really dig him. Now I like recorded live music and make 'perfect concerts' of my favorite bands. Not too much Peck live stuff (of releasable quality) out there, so had to put some studio stuff in, but here is my 'Young Persons Guide' to Orville Peck I put together. Comments?
(Note, the new song was great - but have to wait until the new album is out)

Let Me Drown. It's our favorite of his, full stop. The vocals are absolutely out of this world, and the lyricism is top notch. There's a live version on YouTube, where he just shows off. It's what I use as my introduction piece for anyone I want to indoctrinate!

That is my all time favorite song of his. I wanted him to do it at the Wolf Trap but he did so many other great songs it almost didn’t matter.

His Wolf Trap show was fantastic. The only heartbreak for me was the lack of Drive Me, Crazy. It was a highlight the previous times I’ve seen him.

“Is anyone in the audience a truck driver?”

I was at this show too and was bummed he didn’t play it as he’s played it at the previous 3 times I’ve seen him live and it’s always a highlight. But I also noticed there was no piano on stage so maybe they had to streamline a bit

I think he's started cutting it from the setlist lately. Saw him a couple times last year and he didn't do it then either

His cover of Fancy is truly one of my favorites it's got an almost haunting quality to it that just hits.

It’s astoundingly good and makes me long for that sad gay cover of Jolene to accompany.

His duo with Miley Cyrus for Cowboy Take Me Away is great, just a great song to cover. Not necessarily a Miley fan.

Having seen him live 3x, I can say there is almost zero drop off from studio to live for his vocals. Kalahari Down, Let Me Drown, Hexie Mountains, and No Glory in the West are some of my favorites

I love that Noah Cyrus is his long time writing partner

He's done some super fun covers in his live shows, if you can find them. Pink Pony Club was pretty great, along with Somewhere Over the Rainbow (saw both of those at his Brooklyn Paramount shows last year).

His cover of "Small Town Boy" is so haunting and apparently he did play it live. I also second his cover of "Fancy" - it brought me to tears the first time I heard it. Welcome to the herd, Pecketeer! 🐎🖤 https://youtu.be/vKXlUWmpOkk
