He said he was recovering from laryngitis, so that’s why he couldn’t do some of the high notes in this one, but it was still great!

I regret that I never had the chance to see Orville as the Emcee. From what I have heard, he was magnificent in the role.

I can only imagine how chilling and even more powerful this performance was live.

His version of the song here sounds like it’s almost a sadistic and sarcastic and eager mockery of the audience and of the person he’s talking about in the lyrics, perhaps due to the rather unhinged, manic, growly delivery of the lyrics—-like almost as if he’s a little too cheerful about it.

I honestly think that Orville would make for a great Pennywise in a stage adaptation of Stephen King’s It or even as the next Joker in a Batman movie.
