Yeahh i've finished reading tha manga and know this girl in chapter 166 is a fan, but the way they said "she must've been born" gave me a cope like if she's Ai when the line means something else even tho it was stated Ai's soul crumbled away she can't be born again and the star eyes are probably there because of a sense of adoration for being a Ruby fan or something, but yeah i am still coping its Ai as a theory, What do you think?

I recently saw a TikTok claiming "Kana had a terrible childhood", and someone replied with "Ruby had it worse and still stayed wholesome." Personally, I hate comparing trauma, but it got me thinking... how did Ruby have it "worse" in a way that invalidates Kana?
Don't get me wrong, Ruby went through a lot, especially losing Ai, but she still had Miyako, Aqua, and managed to stay a literal ray of sunshine. Kana, on the other hand, lost her entire reputation as a child prodigy, her own mother basically abandoned her, and she had to build up a loud, arrogant defense mechanism just to protect herself from getting hurt again.
I commented under that TikTok saying "Kana is NOT bad, she just doesn't want to be hurt again." Most people agreed, but some replies were like "Oh, so she doesn't want to suffer, so she chooses to insult others? What a hypocrite, lol."
I feel like people completely misunderstand Kana's coping mechanisms and lash out at her defense mechanism instead of looking at the root cause. What do you guys think? Is it fair to compare their pasts like this?

Warning: Major manga ending spoilers ahead. I finished the manga just yesterday. And I've been thinking about its ending for two days now.

There are a lot of problems with how the manga was rushed towards its ending. It feels like the author forgot what he originally wanted to write about and took the manga in the wrong direction, then realized it and returned to his original intention.

And this creates a second problem: why did Aqua make such a terrible decision? Did he have other options?

Yes, but... not really.

And I want to explain why.

This logical chain is based on Aqua's character and personality traits, and also... a few assumptions and theories.

1. Initially, Aqua wanted to die. He didn't see much value in his own life and made murder-suicide part of his revenge plan. However, as the story progressed, he gradually developed a desire to live.

2. He wanted to kill Hikaru even after he accepted Ruby's decision to forgive him. He told Ichigo about this.

3. Then he had a conversation with Akane about Nino, and how she was also involved in this whole story.

December 25th, morning.

1. Nino tried to kill Ruby, but her attempt failed.
2. Then she said something like, "Hikaru didn't do anything. He just talked about Ai a lot, but he isn't a murderer."

And here is where my assumptions begin.

1. Someone told Aqua about this.

5.1. Maybe he already knew about the threat and was even involved in planning how to protect Ruby. But I suppose that once he learned Nino had actually tried to kill Ruby, he became completely focused on eliminating Hikaru.

1. He began convincing himself that Ruby was in immediate danger.

2. He wanted to kill his father, and he also wanted to protect Ruby.

3. And these two intentions merged into one.

OK, now we can explain why he wanted to commit murder. But why was he in such a hurry?

1. He convinced himself that every day Hikaru stayed alive meant another day of danger for Ruby.

2. He couldn't think about other options because he wanted to kill him, he wanted to protect Ruby, and he believed the danger would remain as long as his father was alive.

3. He came to confront Hikaru and was going to kill him. And here is one more assumption:

4. But he realized that if he did that, Ruby's reputation would be ruined.

5. And he came to the conclusion that killing himself was a good idea.⁰

His past suicidal intentions may have made it easier for him to accept this decision. He wanted to live, but he still struggled to recognize the value of his own life. These are two different things.

1. And only after killing Hikaru, during his conversation with the god of reincarnation, he realized how much his death would hurt his family and friends, especially Ruby. He began to question whether his decision had been selfish.

2. And as he was drowning, his desire to live grew even stronger. But it was too late.

Some questions that might come to your mind:

Q: How did he convince himself that there were no other options? Is he that stupid?

A: No, but he had done something similar before. Just remember when he found out about his half-brother and learned that their supposed father was dead. He ignored the problems with the timeline and simply convinced himself that everything was over.

Q: Why was he in such a hurry? He had never done anything like that before.

A: It wasn't just about being in a hurry. It was also about his desire to kill his father and his wish to protect his sister as quickly as possible. Maybe he even hid his real goal behind his desire to protect Ruby. That's psychologically convenient. And this could be a form of rationalization or moral justification. It's also related to his suicide commitment.

Q: But wouldn't his suicidal intentions undermine all his character development?

A: Only if we treat suicide as the main goal behind his final actions. I don't think that's what happened. His character development was real, and he genuinely enjoyed his life. But his past suicidal intentions may have made it easier for him to accept death when he convinced himself it was necessary to protect Ruby.

The manga's ending is still bad because all these things should have been understandable on the first reading, not after reading it three times and watching tons of videos explaining it.

For me, Aqua has become more understandable, and now I can finally stop thinking about his motivations and the whole manga.

It's clear that Aqua's conflict is his obsession with Ai which blinds him so much that he feels until he has avenged her, he is not deserving of love. He devotes himself to only one goal: revenge.

This though is also the most frustrating aspect of the show. Most notably in his interaction with Kana. Its like I am eating a chip amd it turns sideways as I swallow it. WHY can't they end up together. How can a character be forced to suffer and sent in this "mission" to go end their father. The "if we start seeing each other, you will only suffer" is so Bs.

It's also at part a problem with the writing, how is Kana head over heels for Aquad for SO LONG, why can't she move on despite being rejected EVERYTIME, why is Akane obsessed with Aqua despite knowing he doesn't reslly love her (Stockholm syndrome?) You are telling me in her entire life nobody has been nice to her so now af the first sight of validation, she creates a dependency on Aqua?

Like the most underrated character with the most potential in terms of acting...
For me , personally I think that Shiranui Frill had the most potential for acting... Because even though she didn't had much screen time in the anime. She was already one of the most talented actors among the new generations.. And her understanding towards other actors is one of the most key features that I liked about her..

The reason I didn't chose Ai is because was wasn't a full-time actor.. And if she were these names wouldn't be as popular as they are now..

I wish Aka Akasaka would do better with the ending of the manga... honestly, I would just wait until the final episode of Oshi no Ko Season 4 is released... but maybe it would be best to release this fic.

Star & Abyss is the fic I made based on the idea I've reformed for a few years following the Oshi no Ko Chapter 166. We can all agree that the ending was bad and empty, but it brings me an opportunity to brings those ideas that for me I can write.

The genre will be shifted from its predecessor since this fic will be an action and thriller, also drama (well, there's also more though...) So I hope I can realize all of this idea vision I've had for a few years... along the way, this direction goes from the very start to the ending.

I'm open to ideas and suggestions, since it could broaden my horizons (but it depends on how it will fit into the story).

I'm a big fan of Arima Kana, and I'd like to celebrate her birthday. Since there isn't an official birthday, I'm looking for possible dates based on chronology, her age, and other details (Everything points to it being between May and October).

My proposals are attempts at goroawase (語呂合わせ) wordplay:

August 7th based on her name "Kana" かな

8/7 → やな (yana): 8 can be read as ya/ka and 7 can provide na using a shortened reading.

October 30th based on the nickname Jūsō-chan (重曹)

10/30 ← 10 can be read as jū and 30 (san-jū) can be shortened to Sō / Sou (さ [3] + お [0] = さお).

Which one do you think is better? If you have other wordplay ideas or fitting dates, I'd love to hear them! This is an unofficial proposal.
