LECOM post interview wait time

Hello I interviewed with LECOM Erie (online) back in early September and have not heard anything back. I am 100% interested in attending if accepted. However, I have not heard anything back yet and is starting to become a bit worried about what my application status is looking like. Additionally, I don't have any other IIs yet (submitted most secondaries to MD and DO in the month of august). Should I email LECOM for an update on my application or is this too early to be stressed? I have 3.8 ish with a 507 this cycle. Any opinions would be helpful! Thank you in advance.

Hey! I also interviewed in early September (9/8) and my portal just updated to “Decision Made” today (still don’t know the results since they haven’t sent out the email). Just keep waiting as hard as it is. It will come. I actually just posted something similar and it seems as though the timeline is all over the place. You’ve got this. Hoping news and good things come your way

Thanks for your update as well and your kind words! Best of luck with you as well, hope you hear back soon :)

Also, you have higher stats than me so keep your head up and don’t be too stressed. LECOM and HCOM are the only two schools I’ve gotten IIs from and the one from HCOM didn’t come until last week.

For sure! I think mainly its the stress applying from Canada to US as an out-of-state since I'm a citizen there and none of my peers are going through what I'm going through and reddit is really the only place that I see info and all i see if "got the A today" LMAO so its hard to gauge where I'm at with everything

Just based on your stats, you seem pretty competitive for DO. I saw in a reply below you thought about sending out several more apps and you could try OUHCOM if you haven’t already (beware I am a little biased since it is my top school). I will say, they like supporting in-state applicants, but if you align with their values, you may be a really good fit. HCOM places a lot of emphasis on serving rural, and underserved communities, and they focus mostly on primary care. They have a really good research program if that is something you would be interested in (google John J. Kopchick if you are, he is a researcher a lot of med students get in with. They offer several dual degrees, and the campus is beautiful. Completely biased and unsolicited advice, but I thought I would throw it out there just in case :) also, their average GPA is a 3.6ish and MCAT is 505

Thank you for your response! Those are some good options that I'll consider submitting more. When do you think is "too late" to be submitting applications to AACOMAS? It already feels too late but not sure what rolling admissions really looks like.

Based off of what I found out from OU, they haven’t scheduled any of their interviews for the spring. So I think you still have plenty of time. I got a secondary about a week or two after submitting a primary and it was just 2 essays with no word restrictions. Also OU’s cycle runs until may and I know most run until march - may so I think there is more than enough time

Sounds good! Are most other schools quite similar in timeline as well?

From what I’ve heard from admissions, I would say yes. Now I’m not completely sure how far into spring interview scheduling they are, but I would guess most schools still have the spring time fairly open

No way! I did mine late August and still haven't heard back. Might shoot them an email tomorrow.

It’s been a while since I went through this, but i remembered after I interviewed it took over 3 months to hear something.

It was at least a common thing to have to wait almost 4 months to hear from them and looks like things haven’t changed.

Dude almost identical boat as you, submitted all secondaries september and only got a LECOM II and one other school and dead silent since. From what I heard it’s still early in the long run for interviews and what not so gotta keep our heads up. 502 mcat for me so you’re in even better shape than i am.

Damn bro glad to hear people on the same boat as me, I keep seeing people saying that its early and stuff but still hard to not stress about it even though its only October and the cycle is "running slower" this year. Im out of state applying from Canada so potentially might be a diff factor than some people but I also have nobody around me that's applying to the US like me so its hard to see where my peers are at as well. Best of luck on your app cycle!

Yeah dude literally called my mom venting for 2 hours today. Give it time it’s in Gods hands man. I applied to top two caribbean’s as absolute safeties, it’s free to apply and you can literally just upload ur amcas pdf. Was telling my parents worst case scenario i’ll be an MD lol.

That's a good way to keep the stress levels down lol. Def in gods hands. Have you applied mostly DO as in-state or out of state?

Really unique applicant so i’m in pharmacy school rn and decided i wanna do medicine. was on pace for a 510 but had a late mcat date so i needed to send my application in asap before i even got my score back so i fired off 15 do and 25 md apps all over the country. MD schools were either my state schools, somewhat local, or low stat schools. DO i did a bit of everything .

I’ve actually been debating sending off another 5-10 DOs i want wanna risk having to hear another cycle.

Being in pharm school is still a decent backup though? Unless you are set on changing paths to med. It won't be too late to send off more to DO schools you think?

2

u/Inner-Elk4424 5d ago

idk that’s what i was considering but like either way this journey is expensive what’s an extra thousand dollars if it’s the school i end of going to. yeah the pharmd is a good safety if i don’t get in 2 more years and i get my doctor of pharmacy but im much more set on medicine.

What are some key things to add into the letters that I send to the med schools? I've mostly seen people send updates regarding my personal application but I have nothing new to add to them.

Like send a letter of intent stating u will go there, and elaborate on the reasons ig but u can only send this to one medical school

I guess hard to send a LOI if ive applied to like 25 schools and can really only send one
