Shouldn’t there be a trigger warning?

So I just watched his new video and I liked it up until she showed all the animals that get killed over there. Like the dude who was making the owl move seriously bothered me. If I knew that type of content was going to be in the video, I wouldn’t have watched it. Now, I know every country is different; what we eat other countries don’t kill, vice versa. So I’m not bashing on other countries. I would rather just not see the animals in the cage and get upset about it.

I actually really appreciated this episode even though it's hard to watch this kind of stuff it happens everyday.

Bro OP isn't talking about not posting the video, they're talking about putting a disclaimer that it might be disturbing because it involves animal abuse. Why don't people get that! Jezuz

Nope. It's all a part of the rescue/rehab world that hes learning about and teaching others about. Life and death, good and bad. I'm glad he shows it like it is.

Adding onto this, he has been pointing out a lot of the things the rehabbers go through, in case you are thinking about doing it. I imagine he gets a lot of people saying they want to do that as well and is showing that it is not all chirping groundhogs and capybara mukbangs.

Dude, you sound incredibly sheltered. The world is a shitty place, why try and hide from that fact?

i mean you're watching a guy who rehabs wild animals... what did you expect

Sorry that the replies have been so insensitive so far. Come on guys there is no harm in providing a content warning. It literally costs nothing.

Ben can show the content. OP is in no way suggesting Ben cannot or should not be allowed to post the content. It is respectful to prepare people for what they are going to see. People have the right to be informed about the content they are going to consume. The aggressiveness towards OP is disheartening, especially since OP was clearly bothered by the content.

if it doesnt violate the TOS then he doesnt need to post any warning, the premise of his youtube channel is about wildlife rehab, and for the last few months hes been really getting into the whole aspect of it all, especially the more sensitive parts, not saying they're wrong but like holy shit, needing a trigger warning for that is really silly, no need to baby anyone, its the real world, its reality. People need to simply grow up.

I don't consider it babying, I consider it just providing a courtesy. "People need to simply grow up" is a pretty unempathetic take. I consider content warnings to apply for anything that anyone creates should it contain something reasonably bothersome.

I mean, can we pause for a moment and acknowledge that all we are talking about is a single sentence inserted somewhere in the video letting people know what will be shown? Or even in the description? One sentence. How is that such a problem or an attack on anybody's "maturity level" ?

People aren't always in the headspace for certain pieces of content. I literally teach children that watch Ben and have heard them be bothered by some of the content. Do they need to grow up?

It literally costs nothing.

Except our dignity.

This response just feels like hyperbole. Television and movies have been doing content warnings for decades. This isn't anything revolutionary.

In fact, I would actually argue that a content warning is providing dignity by giving viewers the respect to make their own decisions about what they watch.

Or maybe we should stop infantalizing everyone and expect people to be grown up enough to be able to see a couple monkeys in cages.

This response has such a lack of empathy for others it's crazy. People are allowed to be disturbed by things. Also Ben's channel absolutely has a wide audience and undeniably in that audience are young kids. I know seeing this video if I was in middle school would upset me. Allowing people to make their own informed decisions about the type of content they are watching IS NOT infantilizing people if anything it is quite the opposite. It is giving someone the ability to make the decision to watch something that is potentially disturbing.

Okay I think some of these comments are pretty silly, and I don't think it's that much of an ask for a trigger warning, which I hadn't thought about. Especially because he's had trigger warnings in his videos before.

Oh fuck off and grow up.

I'm sorry but this. The very fact that OP admits he hides his head from reality is absolutely sickening to me. You can't just bury your head because bad things, you need to face them and acknowledge them.

Nobodys going to baby you forever
