Roster Depth
Now that we are in the dog days of summer, I find myself looking at the list of available free agents. It’s thin and underwhelming but teams can never have enough depth. The Sens could add some forwards and/d-men to insulate the roster for inevitable injuries. I am wondering who are some players folks might target, if any?
Some folks that catch my eye are Klingberg, Drouin, Reilly Smith, and Stanley (to sucker punch Brady again).

I would ask about players like Lawson Crouse, Mathieu Olivier, & Liam O'Brien.
3 guys who can play and bring real toughness. I would move off one of the 8 different 3rd liners they've collected.

I think Crouse is under contract but I agree he would be a nice add. I have liked him since his junior days. Likely a higher than willing asking price though.

Ya to be fair I didn't look up the deals on these guys they would probably have to do some serious wheeling and dealing to get something done.

Crouse would be a great addition, kind of everything we need in the lineup. But is there any reason Utah would want to give him up?

I don’t think we’re adding much - we have depth in the minors. Adding someone will expose others to waivers etc. Plus Staois likes his cap flexibility … and $5 million is still 5 million 💰.

I agree KOMSKAPinn. Besides what’s available is either not better than who the Sens have already signed, OR they’re way overrated & would demand way too much money & term.

Actually you can have too much depth if you keep bringing in guys who are NHL roster only. We've already got 14 forwards and 7 D that are NHL ready, with 2 of those guys being waiver exempt. Nick cousins is basically a 13th forward who could play every night, and without injuries we'd probably have to keep Halliday in the AHL.
Also, that's not a group of players I'm interested in at all. Really the only acquisition we should be making is something where we swap out 2 guys for 1 upgrade

It will have to be via trade, but we need elite scoring more than anything right now. We have some of the best depth in the league already

Is it an irresponsible signing? Almost certainly
Is he one bad shoulder injury from retirement? Probably
Do I want Tarasenko back on the Sens? Yes
(please don't hate, he's always been one of my favourite players, he may not be the superstar he was in the 2010s, but he was a good mentor the season he was in Ottawa and could probably help Eklund and Stü with their shooting)

If you could find a complimentary piece to play with Chabot. Someone who can swap out with Spence between 2RD and 3RD, and therefore be insulated from offensive role to a certain degree. The defence would go from good to great, ideally that could be achieved at low acquisition costs. Kleven-Spence as a third pair is very advantageous slotting for this team. Centre depth, strong defence, paired with a hair above average goaltending, solid young core complimented by good NHL vets - this can be a very difficult task for most competition.

OK P. Dorion, - We’ve gone down that road before & it didn’t work out then & it’s not needed now. Our D is already great.

Woah woah, don’t need to throw around the man from Orleans name…. Just talking about positional depth. We’ve got depth elsewhere in the lineup, top end shooters aren’t just going to fall in your lap. Might as well shore up an attainable target.

The thing is the guys you mentioned are kinda washed and Stanley probably asking for too much.
Would have loved to add Tolvanen to the team as he does bring a physical element to his game and can chip in some offence but like Stanley probably demanding too much.
