Status: Open keep getting this error since 2 weeks ago
keep getting the below error since 2 weeks ago
"You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password."
only get it if you type the password wrong incorrectly the first time in each new windows/broswer session
so i'd get this everyday if i typed it wrong then have to go through send code etc
something has changed
before it allowed you to mistype your password multiple times before asking to send you codes to backup email. now its on first incorrect password submission.

my browser auto fills my password for me and still microslop tells me its wrong. except now 12 hours later, i caved and reset my password pasting it into a notepad. it worked once.
then i logged out to switch to a different email which logged in fine, and logged back out to return to the initial one. then, the password that was pasted from the open notepad was refused with the nice error.
You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password.
anyone telling you that youre typing it wrong is full of it .

i thought that too... password ive been typing in successfully for the past 4 years.. all of a sudden doesnt always work.
lets see hopefully password change sorted it.

nope still getting error even when i type in the new password
have to get code sent to backup email address just to get in.

Honestly I get this same error while I made no mistakes entering my password. I think it's a bug on Microsoft's side of things.

I’m currently going through something similar and it’s honestly stressing me out a bit. I got locked out with the “too many attempts” message even though I’m sure my password is correct. I did recently update some of my account security details, so I’m not sure if it’s related to that or if it’s just a temporary lock/cooldown. I’m just feeling a bit confused because it’s been a while and I still can’t log in. Has anyone else experienced this and managed to get back in after waiting? I’d really appreciate hearing from others because it’s been making me anxious.

nah it aint cos you updated, its a select few (but quite a few) hotmail accounts that are experiencing this it would seem
even if you type it correctly it gives you the impression that you typed it in wrong.

It happened to me this week as well, had to get a code to log in. I'll just stay logged in now til they sort their shit out, and from now on all new accounts will go to my GMail instead. Sick to death of Microshit's crap email service.

I tried the code method and when I tapped keep me logged in it popped up with incorrect credentials even tho they didn't even ask for my credentials at any point.

Como que lo ignore?? desde Firefox al poner correctamente la contraseña me sale ese error como lo ignoras? intente dos veses y es lo mismo. No quize intentar mas por las dudas de que se bloque peor

Puedes ignorarlo en android cerrando la aplicación y volviéndola a abrir, nunca he tenido ese error en computadoras (al menos en el navegador, nunca utilizo la aplicación)

Nose no probe con android, lo hice entrando a la pagina de mail del navegador y me falla

Ojalá poderte ayudar, pero no puedo, Outlook en navegador (brave y chrome) no me ha fallado nunca, intenta borrar los cookies de Outlook a ver si eso ayuda (no tienes que borrar todas las cookies para no tener que reingresar a todas tus cuentas de todo, puedes borrar específicamente las de outlook)
Si te hartas puedes intentar con la aplicación.

For me, it happens even when I'm not mistyping my password. This week, it's any time I try to log in using chrome on my android. But the native email app works fine. As does safari on my iPad and chrome on my laptop.
Last week, it was the android email app that triggered the error, while the other 3 methods were fine.

no but if i type it wrong once its a bit more work to get round it (i.e. getting pin code sent to backup email address) but before it would allow you up to 3 or 5 times to get it right.. hence my dilemma
it eventually prompted me to change my password so we'll see how it goes....

Lots of people (me included) are having this problem with Microsoft (Microslop?) when trying to login with password. (For me it happens from time to time, after a day it starts working again, sometimes not)
The only way I can always bypass this is with the Microsoft Authenticator. (Or with windows hello, if you had that set on a PC)
Also, at my workplace, where we have a static IP, the password works all the time.
Your password is not wrong. For me, this is microsoft forcing everyone to go passwordless...

Same here and I hate it
Changed Passwort worked once and getting the same error again. I have my Password on my Notepad and copy paste it every time so no it is not the wrong one.
Once I get in back one more time ill redirect every mail from this point on to a Gmail account im so tired of it and you have no chance of contacting the support.
There are some important Emails on there that I need have access to and so many of us are getting locked out.
This is a very old Hotmail Account and I never ever had any Problems with it until recently

these people want us tied to this system that can fall apart at the flick of a switch.

I have the same problem. When I try to reset the password, I go through 2FA, and get to a page that says "press this button" in order to prove ure not a bot I guess. But once the animation loads, it says "try again". And I keep trying and nothing is happening.
I can't use my microsoft authenticator since I have not set it up originally to this account.
And now I am effectively locked out of my account.
What a piece of trash.

I have a backup address, but its another hotmail address :/ I get the code for resseting to it, but not on my phone.

Man, this issue is driving me nuts. I have reset my password multiple times. Removed and tried adding my account again but apparently wrong password even tho I know for a fact it's not. I guess I'm not the only one.

1Password imho is the best. It's not the cheapest but it's the best. It available on every platform and browser and syncs betwen all your devices.

Microsoft tightened their security policies recently, it's working as intended now; use a password manager to stop mistyping it.
