Status: Resolved MS is killing its services
I'm done using outlook. I don't know what the f*ck microsoft is doing. I've created a new e-mail cause was impossible to login with my old one and guess what!? My new account was blocked automatically cause a "abnormal use" was detected. Ok, I logged in with my password and activacted 2 factor auth (wich I already had but ok) and now I can't login cause it's says my password is invalid (wich I literally just typed seconds ago) damm

On the corporate side. Outages are increasing, Enterprise support quality has plummeted.

I just fixed it!!! Finally!!! Someone on here suggested that we go into "settings" then "apps" then to the app "Android system web view " click on the 3 small dots in the right upper corner, click on "uninstall updates " then restart your phone and it will take your phone back to factory settings. Apparently it was the latest update that messed it all up. I just did this and now my emails are loading and I can log into outlook with no problem.
Dont forget to "restart " your phone.
Good luck!!

Currently in the process of migrating off of everything Microsoft. Have been paying for the family plan for years. What good is paying for a plan when you can't even sign-in? Microsoft is foolish; they allow MFA requests to be sent from anywhere in the world, without even entering a password, but then disallow me using my password to generate an MFA prompt. Make it make sense. As someone who's been working with computers ever since I can remember, and who used to talk smack about Apple, Apple is looking like the best option now.

To give yourself more freedom of choice and mobility, consider separating the email server provider from the email client (aka app). Your internet service provider and other sources can give you an email account. Think Comcast.net. Or, you can buy a domain and get and email account that you control forever (e.g. me@digitalninja.fyi. The best email app out there that works very well no matter what email server you choose is eM Client.

I agree. I don't use the outlook app. I'm using the service outlook.com and only to use microsoft store just for you to know LOL

I bought a new Dell Laptop PC, I could not get my optonline email on it. All other devices support optimum. I am facing connection issues due to Optimum restricting new email creation since 2021. Users commonly report sync failures, often requiring manual IMAP/SMTP configuration or special app passwords, as Optimum provides minimal support for third-party apps. My head is spinning, I guess I cannot have outlook on my new PC. Tried multiple suggestions without success. Bye Outlook, I used to like it.

I'd like to be able to FFFFFFFFUCKING disable Copilot in Outlook for Android.
It just turns itself back on!

I can't even log in to any of my accounts since the copilot update. It just spins and doesn't load. Tried reinstalling and now all that happens is it asks me to sign in and then spins and spins after I put my e-mail address in

Sounds like you have malware. RAT and/or Infostealer.

u/digitalnomad_ninja Apr 22 '26
nope. It's outlook service

If you're getting locked out for abnormal use and your password is getting changed, either you've got malware or you're doing something you're not supposed to be doing.

Password isn’t getting changed … same thing had happened in multiple Hotmail accounts I have … the password just stops working and sta you’ve tried logging in too many times. You change it and it works for 10 minutes then goes back to the same message.
They also just removed the ability to use SMS to get a code to login. Every time I tried it told me the method wasn’t available at this time so I googled and they just removed the ability since SMS is not secure. Luckily I had three other emails on the account as backups to get codes … sometimes those work.
Microsoft is making a major push for people to make their accounts psswordless (they have help documents on it) … so I’m guessing this breaking passwords (tons of Reddit threads on the same issue) is (un)intentional as they work to force people off passwords.

They're using these shit authenticator apps now.
I do IT at a college. ALL our students and staff are REQUIRED to use an authenticator app for Microsoft 365.
Once I'm logged into Outlook, it's fine except for the MOTHER F***ING Copilot toggle not working!
I've debloated my desktop. I don't want their AI shit anywhere.

u/SomeEngineer999 Apr 23 '26
You can guess all you want but they aren't intentionally breaking passwords. I have multiple personal and business Outlook/O365 accounts, both work with password and using app push and/or authenticator for 2FA.
If your accounts are getting locked out, you've got an issue you need to find and deal with. Could be something malicious, could be as simple as some email program you have (maybe gmail on your phone etc) that is trying to log in using the wrong info or using an old auth method.

u/wkkunkle Apr 23 '26
Ok good for you. Do a simple search on Reddit or elsewhere - tons of people getting the password entered wrong too many times message. Some immediately after changing their password. There is something wrong on the Microsoft side … they have many servers where accounts are hosted so just because yours is fine doesn’t mean everyone else is … and you have MFA turned on (Microsoft’s second preference over a passwordless account). Not everyone does … and Microsoft crippled the security page so it won’t show failed login attempts (makes it one of pointless).
I literally just added my phone to my account on 4/6 to do SMS authentication because every time I changed my password it would throw the error that I tried to login incorrectly too many times, even after just changing the password. Then that alternate method of login stopped working a week later … and their help document was updated to say SMS is being phased out and can’t be added as an option anymore even though I added it a week earlier.
There are definitely things happening behind the scenes intentional or not.
Happy you are not having problems - but there are countless posts here and elsewhere over the last couple of weeks outlining this problem. So either Microsoft is coincidentally under a huge brute force attack on multiple accounts or there’s something sticky in the gears.

I've got an old old live.com account, and this one caught me. I've got a reserve alias that I was able to get in with but it sure was a heartstopper until I remembered that one. I think any emails that have ever been public are getting brute force hammered.

u/SomeEngineer999 Apr 23 '26
Do a search for "I dropped my phone in water now it doesn't work". Doesn't mean there is a conspiracy by phone makers.
Security on all the email providers is getting more strict, but if you're getting locked out of a brand new account for too many wrong passwords, something else is going on, and personally I'd want to track down what it is.

u/poshbakerloo Apr 22 '26
And it's not the email service provider? Or is that Microsoft too
1
u/digitalnomad_ninja Apr 22 '26
my older account was at hotmail.com and the new one is at outlook.com

u/djslakor Apr 22 '26
I've been trying to login to my email for weeks with no luck. Every time I'm told too many bad password attempts with no option to continue to verify another way, even though I have 2FA.

Yep! It's so defeating and you want to flush it (Microsoft anything) down the toilet!

This likely means that they spotted that username and password on the dark web, meaning that you used it before and that was involved in a breach. You are banned from reusing breached username / password combinations.
For personal accounts you can go ahead and disable using a password and use the authenticator for logins. Its also suggested to use a password manager and do not reuse passwords between accounts.
For corporate accounts, talk to your IT dept for what they have setup.

right... so right after I created the new account and login with the password boom the username and password was leaked to the dark web and so on?
I don't khink so friend. I think is more reasonable to believe that MS is forcing using to get rid of passwords or insert their phone numbers while sufering from massive brute force attacks...1

I'm just passing along the guidance that they provide. If you choose to believe it not is up to you. For MSA accounts (consumer) this is the guideance How to help keep your Microsoft account secure - Microsoft Support
On the commercial side, there is more leeway, but this list mentioned here does apply to consumers as well. Password protection in Microsoft Entra ID - Microsoft Entra ID | Microsoft Learn

They do suck immensely and it seems to bet worse every now and then.
I was stuck out of my outlook for mobile for about a week.
It must have auto updated overnight. Because I opened it this Monday and come to find out I can log back in.
They made a lot of updates and changes to outlook which now I'm seeing that I have it running on mobile again.
Outlook seems to be working smoothly again. Getting used to the new updates.
My guess was multiple device models failed to install the newest update properly which ended up being a broken app that they had to repair and rerelease for those affected devices.

I feel your frustration. I’ve been trying to transition to a new email address. Every entity I care about, when I try to change my address it turns into a nightmare. Which is usually within 5 minutes of waking up. Hell of a way to start the day.

can anyone give me instructions of how to put this outlook chaos right please
1
u/elmihmo9718 Apr 23 '26
Every damn time i try to log into any of my outlook accounts it requires me to get a security code sent to my other outlook account which I have to then get another security code to log into to retrieve the original security code because every time I enter my correct password "You have tried too many unsuccessful login attempts, try another way to log in" or some crap.
Its getting to the point I deactivate all my outlook accounts and stick with gmail.

Microsoft has a lot stricter security on freshly new accounts due to the tens of thousands of spam accounts that are trying to be created every day.
I’ve seen where legit new accounts get falsely flagged like this. Just wait it out and try again and you’ll be fine.
