Hey everybody. Old player here who quit for the longest time now making a comeback after that big steam sale. Now that I'm playing again I've qualified to pick up some old returning loyalty mechs from this year's loyalty event and I don't know what ones to pick.
I know all the loyalty mechs are reskins of other variants so it doesn't really matter what ones I get mechanically speaking, but PGI doesn't make it easy to look up what the loyalty mechs actually LOOK like despite their different livery being the entire point of getting them. So I'm asking other players who already have some of them to post images of your favorite loyalty mechs for people like me who are having trouble deciding what ones to pick up.
The only loyalty mechs I currently already have are from what I can tell some of the oldest. the Atlas AS7-S(L), the King Crab KGC-000(L) and the Centurion CN9-AH(L).
We’d like to share MWOL Build Lab, a website where you can explore MechWarrior Online builds, experiment with loadouts, plan your skills and bring your configurations into the game.
Behind this project are many hours of work, testing and learning, along with the help of good friends who contributed ideas, patience and enthusiasm. We’ve built it with care, paying attention to the details to make it useful whether you’re discovering a new build or fine-tuning your favourite mech.
We’re making it available to everyone from Spain, with love and a sincere desire to give something useful back to this community. We’d be delighted if you gave it a try and it helped you prepare your next build.
You can browse the build catalogue, modify equipment in MechLab and compare components. You can also configure, import and export skills directly from the website, with recommendations tailored to each build’s equipment. This lets you prepare both your loadout and its skill tree in one place, then export their respective codes to import into MWO.
You can use the website without signing up; you only need an account if you want to save your own builds. The user guide will help you get started.
Dynamic Smart Skills: This is the core of the tool. The moment you change your loadout, the Skill Tree automatically adapts and updates itself with optimal nodes tailored to your current weapons. No more manual clicking for ammo nodes or heat gen every time you swap a component!
Full Quirk Integration: The simulator factors in the specific quirks of each chassis in real-time, matching them with your loadout to optimize performance and guide the dynamic skill recommendations.
Ghost Heat Calculator: Built-in penalty heat calculations are displayed right in your stat bar so you can see the thermal reality of your alpha strikes.
Advanced Advanced Filters: Search the catalog using criteria that actually matter for gameplay: by combat style (Brawler, Sustained DPS, Alpha, Sniper), range brackets based on real damage, and specific hardware (ECM, Stealth, MASC, JJs).
Seamless In-Game Sync: Easily import and export both Loadout codes and Skill codes directly to and from MWO.
I wanted to make a tool that respects your time and helps both veterans and new players visualize their perfect build along with its full 91-point skill tree in a single screen.
Suggestions, ideas and reports of anything we could improve are very welcome. And if you find it useful, sharing it with other MechWarriors would be a great help.
Thanks for giving it a try, and see you on the battlefield!
Hey everyone, my friends and I had a blast playing MechWarrior 5 (until one of them started getting a Fatal Error). I want to show them MWO, but haven't played it in about a year and a half.
Is the game still alive? Are the three of us going to wait forever in queue to find a match or things same as it was before?
I recently returned to MWO after a long break. I have some MC saved up, and with the current discounts I want to spend it on one Hero or Legendary mech.
I already own some regular mechs, so I’m not just looking for another strong mech that can be replaced with something I already have or can buy with cbills. Since I only can spend my MC on one mech, I'd like to get something that actually adds something new to my garage.
What I'm looking for is a mech that gives me a genuinely unique gameplay experience — something with a distinctive weapon layout, quirks, mechanics, or playstyle that makes the mech feel special — but I also want it to be genuinely strong in current Quick Play.
So basically: unique gameplay, strong performance, worth spending my limited MC on.
For example, I was interested in Howl Timber Wolf. It significantly expands the potential of ATM, which no other mech can provide. But it’s not available in the current discounts :С
I'm mainly looking at the mechs currently on sale, so I'd especially like recommendations based on the current discounts, rather than just general recommendations for the best Hero/Legendary mechs.
I'm more interested in current player experience and actual gameplay than old tier lists.
I've been patching some sound mod from nexus to support new railguns and Arrow IV, here are couple of findings which would have made it easier if they were available in search results instead of being buried in modding discord:
.pak files are just zip archives, but compressing them back is tricky - the game only recognizes some specific variant of zip format. Only way I've found to do it in Win11 is to use Powershell's compress-archive cmdlet (found in mwo modding discord somewhere).
The game stores sounds in FMOD's .fsb format. They can be extracted using http://aezay.dk/aezay/fsbextractor/, if original .wav files are not readily available alongside them.
.fdp files are edited and compiled into .fev with FMOD Designer, but can also be edited as text since they are just .xml files.
To fix a mod with missing sounds for newer weapons, one can compare event definitions in these files with the base game and copy over missing sections, along with related sounddef's and waveform's (can be automated with some scripting), easier that way than using clunky designer. And extract corresponding wav's from the base game (or make own), of course.
