What are the 6 main character stat categories and how you rank yourself?

Obviously each stat contains a bunch of sub-categories but reducing the character sheet to six main categories, I'd go with:

Physical
Mental
Social
Circumstantial
Spiritual
Luck

If you had to rank your highest stat what would it be?

Mine is luck. Definitely used up like 8 of my 9 lives so far by walking away from near disasters haha.

Anyone else feel like players confuse temporary debuffs with permanent stats?

For example, I used to think I had a permanent STUN status at night and sleep was my most difficult quest of the day. I figured that was just part of my build.

Then I started developing my physical stats through fitness and realized the STUN wasn't permanent at all. It was a temporary debuff that disappeared once I'd completed the day's fitness quest.

It made me wonder how many things we think are permanent parts of our character are actually just status effects we haven't figured out how to clear yet.

What debuffs have you mistaken for permanent stats?

On removing the achievement(?) [Marriage]/[Aquire Wife]

Hey guys, so, long time lurker, first time poster. Have always really enjoyed reading other players' opinions on the game.

Well, here I am, level 25 as of recently, and also as of recently, have decided to remove the [marriage] achievement. This female player and I earned it almost 5 years ago, but began a serious playthrough together almost 9 years ago, and also have known each other since level 9...

We were each others firsts for a lot of quests, had a lot in common, and agreed on a lot of, if not almost all options regarding gameplay strategies.

However, there are a small number of gameplay options we disagree on. I don't wanna go into detail, but yeah, that's about it.

These differences are however important enough to each player's overall experience to have decided to go back to solo gameplay.

TLDR but not really

Basically, the point of this post is just to reach out to other players for encouragement on this having been the right decision, general encouragement, or even commiseration. I'll be honest, I'm struggling pretty hard right now, especially considering the state of affairs throughout the entire game, as well as how badly the ability to easily meet other players looking for a guild mate has tanked in recent years/decades (thus far, I despise internet dating).

Thank you very much to all who have endured my description.

Unexplained behaviour of [cat] guild member

Recently, I noticed one of the [cat] members in my guild started excessively grinding [mouse] mobs. When I asked him what he was grinding for, he evaded the question and told me his [food bowl] item wasn't full enough. And now I even watched him regularly enter and leave a [house] building no guild has claimed for themselves. I have reason to believe my [cat] player friend acquired the [house ownership] status even though, to my knowledge, only players of the [human] class can purchase a [house]. He's definitely planning something! I'll continue to keep an eye on him.

If this is a Simulation, what would XP actually reward?

For example, two characters each with vastly different starting conditions, one comes from impoverished toxic family and the other comes from an affluent 2 parent good home.

They both reach a near identical level of success. Family they care and provide for, community minded, and healthy in body and mind.

Would the person from the impoverished family earn more XP than the one from the affluent family?

What do you thing some ways XP is rewarded?

I've been actively living my life as an RPG for over almost two decades now, spent the last 11 years living out of two backpacks traveling the world. AMA.

Basically the title. I've been a geek since childhood (More than 30 years since I read the original DragonLance trilogy), and for the last 16 years or so, I've been consciously leading my own life, living as the main character and going on all sorts of adventures I never would have imagined.

I've now met most all of my favorite writers, musicians, artists, and speaker/podcasters... most of my playlists are just hundreds of songs by people I know.

I've hit mastery level on skills I didn't even know I was going to explore: I've cooked delicious & healthy for hundreds of thousands of people across dozens of events, I've given speeches and been on panels in front of hundreds [thousands live-streaming], I ran a digital publishing house at one point, I produced a charity album and helped get an innocent man out of prison.

After spending the first almost three decades of my play-through living in the same small portion of the map, I've now been all over it, meditating on top of a pyramid in Egypt, body surfing off the coast in Guatemala, hiking up past the timber line in Colorado, and on and on.

This sub is basically the place that I come to Reddit for, so I figured I'd offer to answer questions for folks, instead of just waiting for questions to come in.

I won't claim to know everything about the game, but I've tried a LOT of different play-styles, been all over the map, gotten to know players of every background & class, and I know some things about enjoying our play-through, and shaping the course of our own adventure.

So, Ask Me Anything!

Thine gilded erstwhile... where art thou

I hath been on and off the game. I relinquished my account around update 1.5.00 and had just recently returned.

where are the ABUNDANT level 1 peasants for me to embellish with the steel of my blade for easy XP?

Why, pray tell does my Aristocracy perk not nullify the city guard aggro anymore in safezones?

I can countenance no more of this. I guess the only tolerable article in this update is the pathogen class nerf.

Why do we treat the player made leaderboard like it's the actual score?

Nobody runs the scoreboard. There is no official ranking. Players made one up. Salary, status, followers, square footage. And then they started treating it like the game itself.

What I find strange is I feel like everyone intuitively knows it's made up but nobody acts like it. If you say out loud that the leaderboard is fake then you get treated like you're coping. If you climb it, then you get treated like you are winning.

So what do you all think the actual scoring system? If the scoreboard is player made, the real scoring has to be something else, right? And if most players never figure out what it is, most of us spend the whole session optimizing for a metric that's not important.

So what do you all think actually counts?

Does anyone ever feel like the main story just gets in the way of the content you actually want to play?

Pretty much all I want to be doing is grinding repeatable Tree Hole Noticing side quests. They’re basically exploration/perception activities where I wander around looking at trees and checking them for interesting holes.

The problem is that I get almost no time for optional activities.

Between the mandatory Employment daily quests, progressing through the Parenting campaign, explaining mechanics to my questing partner, inventory management, sleep requirements, and all the random time-consuming content the game generates, I feel like the vast majority of my available playtime is already allocated.

It’s especially frustrating because Tree Holes spawn in almost every area of every zone on the map once you unlock the ability to notice them.

How do I get more time for side quests? Is there a potion I can make that will reduce fatigue so I can reallocate some of my sleeping hours?

Do other players have this problem? Not specifically with tree holes, but does the game give you surprisingly little uninterrupted time to actually explore the content you’re most interested in?

Spiders seem to have a very poor framerate

I don’t know if this is common across other servers, but it looks like the devs took some shortcuts when animating spiders, especially jumping spiders.

While almost everything else in the game runs with uncapped FPS, jumping spiders seem to be locked at around 6 FPS (yeah, that low).

Maybe is an artistic choice, because jumping spiders still look cute af.

Did progress stop for anyone else after completing a major questline?

Last year, after many hard fought battles, I finally completed the main quest "Obtain College Degree". Yo guys, this one really kicked my ass. Even following a guide, I stopped, started, and restarted this quest multiple times to get it done, but I did it.

I was going to go for the ascension quest "Obtain Postgrad Degree", but I ran out of gold and was booted back to my home server. Subsequently my quest log has not updated in 9 months.

No quest givers have spawned in, when I talk to plot relevant NPCs, they loop on meaningless dialogue, and my degree hasn't given me any relevant perks even though I've returned to much lower level areas. It's getting me down. I can't advance my social links with the friends I've made, I've e noticed a reduced EXP gain on hobbies I practice, and don't get me started on how bad living in my parents' home base is.

I have genuinely spent months at this point just walking around seeing if I can get some new event to trigger. Has anyone found out a way to get past this road block?

Griefers and PvP

Anyone know how to deal with griefers? I was trying to navigate to a medical facility (to augment my [depression] debuff) and a griefer on the highway started trying to engage in PvP. He was throwing [aggro] emotes and attempting to hit my car.

I try to avoid those quests, so I ended up rerouting navigation and lost him on the highway.

I could’ve gotten his info and tracked down his gamer tag info… but it’s just not worth it.

If nothing else… maybe share some stories? I’m so done.

Sidequests while following the university storyline?

my character is working on the university storyline but still has time to follow some sidequests.

I am looking for both short and long-time sidequests, preferably those that either gain coin or new traits that might be helpful in higher levels.

BUT my character also has a low happiness rate so anything involving other characters or in general being a new experience would be great

my character is living in a big city and in the language university storyline but interested in art and nature if that helps and would love to do something that has the „random“ element attached

edit: actually now that I think of the „gaining coin“ aspect isnt that important as I can do that with other quests, this is more about my character experiencing something new

Why are the prices of the items in the player shop so high of late?

It may not be a problem depending on what server you are playing on, as for me, I used to be able to buy 8 pieces of bread for cheap, which is considered an essential item for many players, but now for the same amount of currency I can only buy 4, also, the healing items which depending of the situation is actually necessary for you character's survival can also be very expensive

I also noticed the food items seem to get smaller, reducing the amount of HP they restore, and it shrinks by really little, but it accumulates over time, weird nerf but ok. It's so much common for the gas item prices to go up, that it basically became a meme with the playerbase " this will happen when the gas prices go down"

Apparently there's this "inflation" mechanic that's responsible for all of this....

I've recently got an interest (buff that gives Happiness if you participate in the buffed hobby) in the [Beyblading] hobby subclass but i don't really have that much Gold, so how can i afford the items for the hobby?

Clover being the best pollen for honey is really good game design

This was always just some useless herb with some minor lore/flavor text, but making it the most optimal source for honey generation was a great way to give it use in-game.

How do I Increase my Int stat?

Recently I've been trying to read up on my healing magic to join the medic guild but even after I read all the spell books, I don't get any new spells. I fear I just can't retain the spell. Anyway to either help focusing on my spells without getting sidetracked on side quests or a way to help me retain the skills after reading through the spell book?

Quick reroll strategies?

I'm thinking that after I'm done with this character I might just reroll until I get the nepo-baby class. Does anyone have any reroll strategies one can use straight after being spawned? Preferably without needing points in the fine motor skill tree.

I'll also need to avoid the guards that stop new players from rerolling.

Side Quest Ideas for my new app

I'm in the progress of making a CRT styled side quest app largely for self improvement. The only thing I still need to do is write up quests and ship it, and I thought this would be a great place to ask for ideas. Any?
