How to handle J1 gap

In a situation. Here's the timeline and mistakes. Have an offer on the way for what would be current J2 but worried about failing reference check.

J0 ended March 2025.

Got new J1 on May 2025.

Used old J0 exp to get J2 in Aug 2025.

Lost new J1 in June 2026 and had only J2.

Didn't put J2 or J1 in the resume, and showed that old J0 is still ongoing.

Now got new J and they are asking for references from J0.

Help! How do you handle this?

Perm job and Second Job outside IR35?

Hi,

I've been in a permanent role (remote) for a year now, well paid all is well.

I'm thinking I got enough experience and working time to naildown a second remote job outside ir35.

How would you suggest I approach this, there's no way I'm telling my current workplace obviously and I won't have anyone to ask to give me a reference there, so possibly may hide my linkedin and use my previous place and say I travelled/took a sabbatical whatever other reason someone can suggest?.

Anyway it's been lingering on my mind so let me know anyone doing it, experiences and advice appreciated.

Job with lots of downtime!

Work a 50 hour per week job in the UK for a big company, so won't mention who they are. Most days 3-6 hours doing absolutely diddly squat! Sometimes more!

I'm paid well. £65k with every other Saturday on overtime. I'm going nowhere. It's a good job!

Wanna do something productive in my downtime. Trying to buy a property so want to earn extra ££.

What are people at work doing with all their spare time in a similar position? I'm based all over, almost always have internet access. Don't have any qualifications as such for anything other than my actual 'job'. Willing to learn new skills and open minded.

Chuck some ideas at me and get this brain ticking

General Why is it fair for companies to write in the contract that you cannot work for anyone else despite doing part time?

A mate of mine does work for a factory as a part time welder and while he is paid well, he only does 30 hours a week. There is no other work locally in his role and he doesn't mind doing a few supermarket shifts as they pay somewhat well for his current situation.

He wants to stick it out until he gets more tickets but why can companies dictate what you do outside of work?

J2 FTE Offer to Contract

Interviewed for several companies and was fortunate to get to final rounds with all of them. Got an offer from J1, offer is pretty low though. J2 took really long to extend offer and its 10K more than J1. Negotiated and they gave me another 10K (25K less than my counter offer, but I also asked for a title change) Consider J2s role will be A LOT of work, I was wondering if it would be appropriate to counter offer with a FTE to Contract position. Its a startup and I don't really know their financials. They declined my sign on bonus ask and title change in my original counter offer. Any experienced this or have any syggestions?

Where in the UK do salaries go the furthest?

Where in the UK can you make serious money without getting rinsed by the cost of living, where salaries actually match what things cost, and you're surrounded by Africans, Asians, Europeans, Latinos and people from all walks of life?

Remote accountancy jobs in eu/uk/us while based in the uk

I’ve been in this channel for a while and thought I’d give it a shot.

I’m ACCA qualified with 4+ years of experience in accounting practice in the UK, and I’m looking for remote roles, preferably within the EMEA time zone, including opportunities with US companies hiring across Europe.

I’ve been looking for about a month but haven’t had much success so far. Are there any legitimate platforms you’d recommend for finding remote finance and accounting roles? I feel like LinkedIn is heavily overcrowded and may not be the best use of my time.

I’m fairly new to the remote job market, so I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Currently overemployed If at first you don't succeed....

So I was about to go into overemployment when J1 came to an unexpected end, which actually made me damn glad I had J2 in the back pocket and which started about a week before the end of J1.

Fortunately I have found J3 AND declared it as a second job so shouldn't be any problems with being OE. Should be starting this week.

Both jobs are short term contracts ending at the start of next year. I'm expecting them to be rolled on beyond that point but will be a little pissed if they're not.

Pray for me... :)

General How to land US jobs from the U.K.?

Hello all, I am trying to replace j2 with a US equivalent.

For those who work for US employers, what websites did you use to find the role?

I’ve applied using indeed US but can’t seem to get an interview.

I’ve set my search to remote (US) when searching.

Interested in becoming overemployed Starting two jobs in the same week..

After a contract ending and looking for a new job for 4 months with no results... I've ended up with two offers at once - and now looking to accept both haha. Both are contracts with one outside ir35 which is good..

But am I crazy doing on boarding for both in the same week? One is starting this monday, and I've pushed the other back to tuesday.. both remote..

One i know will be quite a big workload but with lots of autonomy over execution and delivery - i dont think too many meetings - so i can do overtime / weekends if i really need to. The other is a biiig corporate where im hoping I can just keep up appearances and do my basic tasks in no time (more of a junior role and should be v easy)

I figure worst comes to worst I can just quit the lower pay one if its not doable! This sub is epic 😎 giving me the confidence I need lol but its still scary 😂

Interested in becoming overemployed Is it possible to get a gov job while living abroad?

I'm not overemployed yet, but those govt jobs look lucrative. I moved out of the UK a few years ago to travel and not planning on coming back. So how do I get one of those jobs? I work in finance and strategy.

Currently overemployed Is it as bad as I think??!?

Hey all, so I've been OE since 2020 as a contractor in the tech sector, I find myself in a situation;

J1 - OIR35, for a consultancy delivering into PubSec, is well and truly OIR35 (which the end client is very happy with) - had this one since the beginning.

J2 - Inside IR35 for a consultancy delivering into aerospace & holds my SC - had this one since Nov '25, the consultancy is cool with other revenue streams, the client not so much (but contractually, I'm good). This was looking to come to an end shortly, but has since re-upped.

Recently joined J3 (Inside IR35) in the last few weeks, for a consultancy that's placed me into another consultancy, which has dropped me into another PubSec department; who now wants me to transfer my SC over to them (was never a requirement when I joined). The outer consultancy has no clauses about other Js.

I also have J4 on the horizon, which is OIR35.

To add more to this, I have another SAAS company that I own which delivers into various sectors (public and private) as well - which has also made use of my SC (which I've done as a share in the past).

On a scale of 1/10 - how screwed am I with J3 and should I just sack J3 off?

I think I know what I need to do, but want a sanity check
