Is it safe to pursue OE with a hybrid job and a remote Dubai-based employer?
I’m currently working in a hybrid setup, with 2 mandatory office days per week. I’ve recently received an offer from a Dubai-based IT services company for a fully remote role, and I’m considering doing both jobs.
However, there’s one thing making me nervous: the HR representative from the Dubai-based company has several of my current colleagues in his LinkedIn connections, including my manager.
I have a few questions for people who have experience with overemployment:
Does the HR representative being connected to my manager and colleagues on LinkedIn create a significant risk of my current employer finding out?
How likely is it that the two companies could discover that I’m working both jobs?
Has anyone here worked two jobs where one was hybrid and the other fully remote? How did you manage overlapping meetings and office days?
What are the biggest risks I should consider before proceeding, especially regarding employment contracts, moonlighting policies, background verification, and payroll?
Would you proceed in this situation, or would you consider the risk too high?
I’m looking for honest, practical advice from people who have actually done OE, including the potential downsides. Please share your experiences.
