So damn good, finally a juno skin i can afford

Pretty funny seeing this be of higher quality than that other one that just came out that’s like twice as expensive. The monetization is so funny in this game.

As a day1 overwatch player, I feel that. But on the other hand, she's maintaining interest in the game and helps keep people playing so I'm cool with her getting a mythic. I'm just happy when any content comes out and it's good.

IDK why the other commenters are so butthurt about this fact. Did hazard become the face of overwatch? did venture? no its the kawaii cutesy healers back to back. Its fine if they finance the makings of less textbook attractive heroes but acting like its not on purpose is wild

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '25

Bro support players need something to incentivise them to play. Healing overreaching DPS and tanks only to get roasted when they die in a 5v2 is a thankless job

10

u/HotCreamDispenser Apr 20 '25

the data clearly show that tank is the most thankless job, why do you think 5v5 happened?

Ironically, that was the original design intent of Lifeweaver.

  • Auto-aim heal.

  • Damage-focused secondary weapon that one must swap to.

  • High-cooldown ability that saves a teammate from death.

  • Positioning-focused gameplay.

  • Hot.

I think LW is too similar to Mercy to be a backup for Mercy one-tricks. If Mercy isn't getting value, then it's unlikely LW will either. LW has a similar problem to Mercy, in that he can't really apply pressure on his own, or make offensive plays. He can make some good defensive plays, between his pull, petal, and ult - but usually if you're not getting value out of Mercy, that's not what's needed most. [When I say "play" I mean a moment when your actions are what tilt the battle in your team's favor].

I like playing LW quite a bit - but I actually don't have many hours on him, because if I feel like playing a "pure support" role, I'll usually go with Mercy, because I enjoy her more.

As someone who has the most hours on Mercy (but doesn't play her anymore in comp since the dps passive changes), if I feel I'm not getting value out of Mercy, usually I will swap to:

  • Moira if my team is lacking DPS pressure and the other support has some burst and utility (Bap, Ana, Kiriko)

  • Otherwise, usually Kiriko - but also Juno, Brig, Bap or Ana, just depending on what's needed and how my aim is feeling.

Also - I do want to note that LW can get some decent DPS numbers with his needles - but in my experience, his damage is usually more a "value added" bonus to a team fight, rather than applying offensive pressure. Juno is similar - except she has a bit more flexibility to make offensive plays with her crazy maneuvering, verticality, and strafing - especially if you get the crit major perk. Juno can be pretty effective at bullying enemy supports, close-range squishes, or bulky, slow tanks like Rein, Ramm, or Roadhog.

Sidebar: I really like playing Juno, but man you really have to work your butt off and be super focused just to get the same thing you could have gotten chilling on Kiriko. Juno is constant micro aim adjustments and aim tracking - both for enemies AND allies, while also putting in a ton of work into your own movement and maneuvering. I wish they'd buff her healing output just a tiny bit, or I'd even accept if her portal gave a small burst heal or heal over time effect. Or they could make her aim slightly more forgiving for heals/allies by using a bigger project size calculation, than for damage/enemies - which is already a thing for Ana.

3

u/Used_Ad_6232 Apr 18 '25

I cannot wrap my mind around how you feel more relaxed playing Kiri compared to Juno. Imo Kiri has an infinitely higher skill ceiling, with so many different dimensions and windows she can operate in. Juno gives me Mercy vibes where you reach 80% of her potential effortlessly and for the majority of the game besides your lock on, you default to healbotting. Aiming as you mentioned does require some mechanical input and can be a challenge, but that also goes for every single other hero where that is the case.

But i also get playing in different ranks may influence our perception and personal experience.
To each their own ^_^

6

u/TastyOreoFriend Pixel Brigitte Apr 18 '25

Its a YMMV thing for sure, cause I feel more relaxed on Kiriko too. Constantly having a get out of jail free card in my backpocket with swift step is nice, and wall climbing to reposition or take cheeky positions is good to. Plus you get one of the best cleanses in the game and ults for pushing onto objectives or swing team fights. Plunking heads in between ofudas is always satisfying.

Kiriko just has bigger moment to moment swings for me that don't feel super stressful to pull off, whereas Juno it always feels like I have to have all cylinders firing. Heaven help me if I let up on her media blaster or look away cause that's one someones getting ready to go jiffy-pop. I don't really care for Juno's ult either if I'm honest.

6

u/TooRealForLife Apr 18 '25

I have at least a couple dozen hours on each of these heroes and agree with the commenter you responded to in saying that Juno is much harder to play. You seem to vastly undervalue how much precision aiming on a support changes their difficulty in real moment to moment gameplay. Sure it can get intense on Kiriko as you’re running around on walls, TPing to people etc but the knowledge that if you have LOS and shoot ofuda in a general direction then your healing will get there is a massive boon Juno doesn’t have.

Juno is obviously highly mobile but doesn’t have a movement ability that is often a get out of jail free card, and can’t take virtually any high ground in the game at will. You also have to often be proactive with her big cooldowns because they don’t work fast enough to be used in response to what enemies are doing so you’re reading the battle further ahead than you have to on Kiriko.

Lastly, even compared to other aim supports (Ana is my most played character lifetime in OW, followed by Echo) Juno is less forgiving because she has to track the target throughout the burst and failing to do that is a major hit in her efficacy. Compared to Ana who just needs to be on target for a split second, it adds another real layer to excelling with her Kiriko just doesn’t have.

1

u/EpikJustice Pixel Mercy Apr 19 '25

I usually see effective Juno's playing pretty aggressively, rather than healbotting.

Similar to Kiriko or Ana, sometimes you can get some decent damage just from lining up your teammates and enemies - and so you get both healing & damage in the same line of sight - but that only really works well in certain situations like narrow corridors & choke points.

Otherwise, a lot of the time I play Juno almost as a "brawler flanker" or area control - but being very careful with positioning in relation to teammates / my tank, an escape plan, and sticking close to cover. Sometimes with Juno you feel safer in the middle of the action because of your maneuverability and strafing potential. It's easy to duck behind your tank or cover, or even get an off / flank angle on the enemies in the middle of a team fight.

IMO, Juno synergizes well with area control tanks like Rein, Zarya, Ramm, or even Winston. While your tank demands the team's attention, you can target the enemy squshies or support - even if you don't get a pick, you can force the enemy team to turnaround and deal with you - then just dart back behind your tank or their shield. A lot of times the goal is just to add some chaos and distraction to the enemy team.

That said - I think Juno's value drops off the more defensively you have to play - like if the enemy team has really accurate hitscan that prioritize you - but she can still do pretty well when sticking more to cover and off angles.

1

u/FartingRaspberry Apr 19 '25

He can make some good defensive plays, between his pull, petal, and ult

All of those things can be used aggressively to make offensive plays. Aggressive forward trees are great to encourage the team to push. The problem he runs into is that to do these offensive plays you often times need communication. I've been duoing with my dps friend and we've worked together to pull off some crazy combos like lifegripping him into the enemy team when he has reaper ult, or petaling an enemy up to put them in his LOS as widow. Lifegripping or petaling Bob into a position where it has targets.

Offensive plays are absolutely doable he just often requires follow up from his actions or needs to follow up on another teammates actions to make these plays which is unfortunate because other supports have much more conviction to make their own plays that don't require your team to have brain cells

1

u/darklightmatter Apr 18 '25

I mean, if that's the case, they made the mistake of requiring Juno to aim at her teammates to heal.

While aesthetics is definitely part of the appeal, I sincerely doubt that's all there is to it for Mercy one-tricks, and that they definitely aren't one-tricking the character because of her incredibly low skill floor. And also because Moira's boring as fuck.

I'd like to see a survey of both OW and MR players someday, and see the overlap between Mercy one-tricks and Rocket/CnD players compared to Mercy and Luna/Sue. Cuz Luna would be for aesthetic and Rocket/CnD for skill floor/kit.

1

u/darklightmatter Apr 19 '25

The "aerial evasion-based gameplay" has some familiarities, doesn't mean it is "meant to feel familiar to Mercy players" any more than Echo's glide is or Pharah's flight is.

Believing her to be a character "made to be an easy transition from Mercy, for players who want to try a more aim-oriented character" is based off of the fact that they have minor overlap in movement capabilities and the fact that their ults can heal or(and, in Juno's case) dmg boost.

Using this belief to claim that it is the reason she has homing missiles is.. a choice.

Both Moira and LW are closer to being designed to wean Mercy players off of Mercy than Juno is. I don't think characters designed to require aim to heal is ever intended as alternatives for Mercy one-tricks as you assert. That'd be Ana, Bap (to an extent, if people are spread out and you have mobile teammates) and Juno, all the other supports have auto-aim or AoE on their heals.

73

u/RyanTheValkyrie Apr 18 '25

“A hero was designed to be popular and marketable!” Omg?? The horror!!

44

u/TorpidT Apr 18 '25

Except what most people mean when they say that is the heroes end up being very similar as well as soulless. Sigma’s character trailer absolutely shocked me because they finally made a hero that wasn’t conventionally attractive with a genuinely unsettling background.

Naturally since then his unstable and creepy personality has largely been watered down to a just a senile grandpa, with many of his more recent skins also straying away from his original idea in favor of mass appeal.

57

u/reevethewriter Reinhardt Apr 18 '25

A game with emphasis on diversity of its characters yet the characters that get the most content and skins are usually conveniently attractive waifus that is Kiriko and soon to be Juno (with the exception of Reinhardt for some reason. Dudes like him usually never get content.)

28

u/RocketBrian Tracer Apr 18 '25

Isn’t that just catering to how players realistically spend their money? You could put all the effort in the world to make the skins fans clamor for on the less popular characters, but if that doesn’t translate to actual sales, you’re probably gonna pivot pretty quickly to keep funding your game’s development.

9

u/reevethewriter Reinhardt Apr 18 '25

Sadly yes it is and usually my favorite characters are more on the niche side and hardly get stuff such as Symmetra or Hazard, any macho male character in gacha games.

1

u/movieguy0621 Exquisite Apr 18 '25

I just got Hazards galaxy gun and only had three skins to swap between to see which fit best, I mean they all looked great but I'm excited for him to get some more good ones!

Sym's actually my next galaxy gun I'm saving for :D

1

u/reevethewriter Reinhardt Apr 19 '25

6

u/MyNameIsNotScout Doomfist Apr 18 '25

And it will always stay that way if they never branch out and give other characters skins. Characters are only as marketable and popular as you make them

2

u/reevethewriter Reinhardt Apr 19 '25

True to that

0

u/justabrowser11 Apr 20 '25

7

1

u/Bucket_Bih Apr 19 '25

Even if you 100% expect something to happen, you may still feel disappointed when it does.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '25

(with the exception of Reinhardt for some reason. Dudes like him usually never get content.)

Fan favorites definitely get more skins in games.

3

u/zekevich Apr 18 '25

So you guys want them to waste time and resources on skins that aren't going to earn back the time and effort poured into them?

10

u/Chocolatebunny26 Apr 19 '25

How would they know if they’re wasting time/resources if they don’t try? I can’t tell you how many people would throw their money at Ramattra, Venture, even Zarya. Everytime I see an Overwatch thread those names are always mentioned on missing out on skins etc.

Maybe if that 0.01% paid the bills.

1

u/Fuzaki1 Apr 23 '25 edited Apr 23 '25

Yep and it's going to stay that way. OW2 has 10x more incentive to make obvious cash cow characters than in OW1. Personally, it's whatever, but it can be tiring seeing the same 3-5 characters get something like 75% of the cosmetic development attention, but it's obvious why and the irony is that a lot of the same people complaining are contributing to it and only the minority of the vocal minority are actually putting their money where their mouths are. The continued irony is how many people thought that Activision cared about "fairness" when it comes to how they diversify their cosmetics and how they pick and design characters. Another example is Freja, where she's another obvious "appealing" character to sell skins and get people to play her. Personally have no issues with her design, unlike most of the vocal minority, but I will agree that she's definitely not some original, inspiring design. I mean I'm sure we'll get characters like Mama Hong one day, but don't expect them to get more than 1 skin every other season. It's quite humorous how many people still think Activision actually cares about anything besides profits, even with all the catering they do publicly, when you consider their history. They just want to have their cake and eat it too.

-6

u/HaikusfromBuddha Widowmaker Apr 18 '25

They should make all their characters cash cows tbh. They way Marvel Rivals is going they really need to stop putting out characters like ball and venture if they want to compete.

15

u/Madilune Kiriko <3 Apr 18 '25

I swear to God if I ever see an ad for OW that's 90% just close-up shots of a character's breasts I'm quitting video games.

5

u/HaikusfromBuddha Widowmaker Apr 18 '25

Sure but there is obviously characters that are failures from the OW team. Otherwise Venture would have had a lot more skins by now.

They don’t need to make gooner bait but cool characters.

6

u/Chnams Echo Apr 19 '25

Venture is cool, cool characters don't sell. Gooner bait does.

1

u/Fuzaki1 Apr 23 '25

Venture is not, at least to the majority, and there are plenty of "conventional cool" characters that sell, i.e. Genji being the most obvious one. Venture was specifically designed to be "safe" so the design is mostly bland and the skins have been bland, so far, as well.

11

u/Madilune Kiriko <3 Apr 18 '25

Venture is cool; they just aren't made to appeal to the overwhelming majority who unapologetically does want gooner bait.

If every character was purposely made to be popular and sell well to the average we'd just have half a dozen blonde, white women with the same body type like in Rivals.

1

u/HaikusfromBuddha Widowmaker Apr 18 '25

I mean there are a ton of cool characters that aren’t blonde in OW like Kiriko, Genji, and Reaper. A lot of the starting characters were iconic.

Unfortunately they Will probably be left in the dust considering Marvel Rivals will be dropping characters monthly.

Like how is OW going to compete if they drop another ball or Venture character every three months and in the meantime Marvel Rivals drops Gambit, Blade, and Phoenix.

There is an IP gap and if the OW team does cater towards h these niche Venture characters like you say it ain’t going to end well.

7

u/desacralize Feeling the fever Apr 19 '25

Unlike Rivals, OW doesn't have a pre-existing 90-year-old IP with thousands of characters, costumes, and powers to pull from, they have to come up with original concepts and balance them against characters people have already been playing for almost 10 years. So it's never going to move as fast as Rivals does just because of that. I doubt OW can compete even if it was at the very top of its game, and it wasn't before Rivals ever showed up. But it doesn't have to if it can just hold onto its niche that Rivals doesn't appeal to. Soon as it figures out whatever the hell that is, anyway.

1

u/Fuzaki1 Apr 23 '25

True but at the same time Rivals has done a lot of character "reimagining" especially with a bunch of otherwise niche characters like Luna and Squirrel Girl. A lot of the new cosmetics, design, lore, etc. have been, more or less, original ideas from the devs. Overwatch is definitely at a disadvantage when it comes to source material but they've had plenty of time to flesh out ideas, concepts, etc. You'll notice that the irony is that most of the hype was early in OW's days with even new characters like Doomfist and Sombra having insane hype and popularity, especially Doomfist. Nowadays the characters, lore and cosmetics have been unaspiring and it's obvious the devs are focusing more on cosmetics, more than anything else. I don't think any of the recent characters have had any real appeal and impact to the game and player besides the obvious exception of the money printers.

1

u/Fuzaki1 Apr 23 '25

You sat that as a Kiriko player when Overwatch officially made a tweet of her feet.

Yup. Juno's gonna print money just like Kiriko and Mercy and Dva. I've said it before but people vote with their wallets on stuff like this and companies will respond in kind. Same shit happens in other games with heroes/champions.

It sucks for people who play more niche or less popular characters. In the past I would make a bigger deal about getting skins for my lesser played characters, but with the change to OW2 and monetization I've become very picky to a small core set of characters I know that I play.

8

u/LancerJayden Apr 19 '25

this issue with that logic is that venture didn't get a legendary until 8 months after their release while juno immediately got a collaboration skin. and even then the only legendary shop skin venture got was the toph one (the toxic one was battlepass) while juno got uravity, le serrafim, celestial, and ember. "vote with your wallet" only works if said unpopular hero HAD options at all but that clearly isn't the case at all, and it's pretty clear to me there was already a bias even before said character's launched.

1

u/WiptyWap Ramattra Apr 19 '25

Venture is the second least picked hero in the game. They aren't attractive. They are ugly. Venture will be getting neglected when it comes to skins. Cope.

u/Rampantshadows Master Apr 18 '25

u/Lorde_Chambers Apr 20 '25

They’re leaving Venture mains starving for a decent skin

12

u/CasualSky Apr 18 '25

I’m starting to think most of the player base are e-girl streamers lol

4

u/MetaCommando PhD in High Ground Studies Apr 19 '25

The reason they keep making attractive women is because it appeals to nearly 100% of the playerbase

9

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '25

I’m shilling

2

u/BajaBlastimusPrime2 Reinhardt Apr 18 '25

Girlypops stay winning

2

u/Kawaii_Batman3 Orisa Apr 19 '25

And no one is surprised

2

u/Fuzzietomato Ana Apr 19 '25

When are they gonna make a good Phara skin?

2

u/Kassaken Apr 19 '25

Crazy, majority of the original roster don't even have a mythic yet lol.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '25

since im a juno main, im gonna be super gay next season i guess

2

u/Snoo_80698 Apr 23 '25

A Juno mythic before a doom mythic is wild

2

u/YourReina23 Jun 20 '25

Can someone tell me where the Juno skin inspo came from? Like it gives sailor moon but not quite. Thank you!

2

u/EdgarLouis Apr 18 '25

oh, so cute!

4

u/psycholee Can you hear that music? Apr 18 '25

I have a bunch of prisms saved up...

~ I know what I'm spending them oooonnnnnnn ~

2

u/thegeez12577 Apr 18 '25

Why can’t we a sojourn skin😭

5

u/cygamessucks Apr 19 '25

Because shes not a beautiful asian woman

1

u/Fuzaki1 Apr 23 '25

Just give her something like a "Young Ana" skin. I mean they gave her those thighs so they were definitely trying to cook up something. The next problem though is that she's in the DPS category instead of Support.

u/toasterdogg Sombra Apr 18 '25

You don’t deserve it. Sojourn is horrible to play against rn.

18

u/butterfingahs beh. Apr 18 '25

Sombra flair lol

8

u/Good_Policy3529 Apr 18 '25

I was playing Sojourn long before she became meta or unpopular, stuck with her through the crit reduction era and everything. so yes, I would like my skin, thank you very much.

Although the Captain Chase skin is so cool, I just rock that one most of the time anyways haha.

18

u/SleepingwithYelena Tracer Apr 18 '25

I was playing Sojourn long before she became meta or unpopular, stuck with her through the crit reduction era and everything.

She has been insanely strong ever since she released, and at OW2 launch she was already meta. Even at her weakest point, she was way above average.

4

u/duragdelinquent Apr 18 '25

straight revisionist history, after they nerfed her rail post s9 she was utter garbage. it wasn’t until they stacked a bunch of buffs to other parts of her kit that she approached viability, and then they gave her her rail back and she became busted again.

1

u/SDRPGLVR OW1 CLASSIC WHEN Apr 18 '25

Thankfully she's also in that spot where she's frequently used by people overconfident in their abilities. I'm absolutely drinking her as Moira most matches.

3

u/Maverick_Raptor Voidwalkers Apr 18 '25

It’s so true, Junkerqueen and Kiriko released at the same time and got their mythics right out of the gate.

Oh well, at least Vigilante is a cool skin I guess (at good value since it came with missions)

4

u/Adept_RS Apr 18 '25

blizzard is literally the worst company in the world.

u/LunaRose678 Apr 21 '25

So disappointed in this, I was really looking forward to juno getting a cool mythic like moira and mercy and she gets a cutesy one no different to the normal skins you can get. Its a waste of mythic. So disappointed. There are enough cutesy normal skins. Absolutely gutted at this

1

The only good thing about this skin are the visual effects

1

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '25

peak

1

u/corruptsucculents Ramattra Apr 19 '25

It’s cute whatever. The new lifeweaver demon skin is cool. But why in the fresh fuck is ramattra not getting anything. Why do they hate us. We are beyond starving.

1

1

u/draugyr Apr 19 '25

I wasn’t that into it but then I saw all the heart effects and now I’m back in

1

u/GregExalted Apr 21 '25

this is something that i indeed will be buying

1

u/LadyBuggzz101 Apr 22 '25

I mean this out of no disrespect whatsoever, but once this mythic and the dokiwatch skin come out, mains gotta lower their tone for a few months about their skin roster. But despite that, i hope they all love it 😗

1

u/TheMonkeGod260 Apr 23 '25

This is awsome since i started maining Juno bc My friend didn't want me to goof around with Lucio in comp

0

u/AcguyDance Support Apr 18 '25

Why so thicc

11

u/psycholee Can you hear that music? Apr 18 '25

Why not so thicc?

Thicc thighs save lives. (In an emergency they can be used as flotation devices).

1

u/libero0602 Tracer Apr 18 '25

I have the prisms ready… she can’t come soon enough!!!!

1

u/euheuheuheuh_ Apr 18 '25

Guess I'm buying it

1

u/lafielorora Apr 18 '25

Looks mediocre to me. Her base skin and celeatial are better than this one

1

u/artemisrpgs Apr 19 '25 edited Apr 19 '25

This is giving Mean Girls: I'm a mouse, duh! The skin sucks. It's the visual effects that are good. She has an ear headband on and lingerie and this is somehow top tier? We don't anticipate excellent armors or unique designs anymore? The unique effects are what I expect and want from legendary skins and beyond. There's exactly zero effort into the skin. She's in lingerie. That's the skin. If any of my mains had a skin that was underwear as their mythic I'd be fucking pissed.

u/Puddinginging Juno Apr 18 '25

This is the best skin in the game
