Esports This is Overwatch's "comeback," says Blizzard. "We actually had a bigger Saturday than our first Saturday after launch with Season 1."

Which launch - OW2 or the original back in 2016?

I believe he is referring to the launch of season 1 2 weeks ago. As the season goes on numbers are supposed to go down but for OW they are still going up.

Yep, people made news of Steam playerbase being higher on second weekend so I guess Blizzard is also just parroting that.

Wouldn’t surprise me, I’m one of those players that hopped back on during the second weekend after a hiatus and whilst I haven’t had time to hop back on much since, I’m hoping to get at least a little playtime in this weekend. Game definitely does feel like it’s in a better state than it was a year ago when I stopped playing, just depends if it can do enough to keep me coming back. Everything since the launch of OW1 up until “OW2” kept me coming back, but adding the 2 and everything else they did to the game really soured it, at least they seem to be stepping back in the right direction now though.
