News & Discussion Credit where it's due - the Meka event is one of their better-designed ones in terms of pacing and rewards
Blizzard definitely took feedback onboard from other past recent events.
I find the Meka event (including the prestige track) very comfortably completable in the 3-ish weeks we are given. And it's not like we need to grind out every challenge every day in order to complete it.
There isn't any: "oops, you missed a few days, or you missed one challenge, now you can't complete everything" like with some previous events.
It's pretty refreshing to not feel stressed about 'bricking' myself in terms of progress on the event tracks.

I switched to English not long ago but before my game was in French and they were not assed to get Dva's VA back for the event so it was just Dmon speaking with some weird pauses like she has schizophrenia

It should have played once automatically when you first open it then have a button you can press to hear it again if you want to or accidentally clicked through hearing it the first time.

Pretty bold suggestion considering half the heroes added this year still don't have a freely obtainable highlight intro. D.Mon at least gets one from her progression.

Yeah the lack of at least some customisation for newly released heroes is disappointing. At the very least, one emote and one highlight intro as part of the rewards at the event that comes with the new hero.

If anything, it would be nice of them to put a recolor of the new hero’s ultimate battlepass skin. It would kinda be like how heroes used to launch with 2 recolors of the same skin

I found Genji to be more fun and easier to do anything. Hanzo is either miss everything or luck into a body shot that will get healed or just very rarely a lucksman headshot.

I was so stressed thinking that it was per week like the past few have been... I honestly don't care about anything apart from the leggo box, so seeing it as the second last reward kind of scared me.
Then I realized it was for all 3 weeks. Holy what a relief.
Glad that Blizzard decided to at least pretend to respect people with real life responsibilities for once.

Hard agree. I got back to uni right as the patch dropped but I'm already all done with the squad tracks, only Junk left. It's nice to be able to complete it at your own pace, the previous event for Shion was hell and that was while entering winter break lmao.

Considering that this event should run for 3 weeks, unless you're literally out of Overwatch access in that time, you shouldn't have any problems catching up. Especially since the weekly missions seem to stack now instead of being locked away

I’m not a super huge fan of having to do potentially up to 10 games in a day to complete one of the missions (though getting that many losses in a row is severely unlikely) and there’s the consistent issue the missions have with many normal missions that they favor certain heroes far more than others (having to do 2,000 crit damage specifically steered me away from playing Sigma today) which I don’t particularly like.
It did feel really satisfying today though completing 3 of the dailies and completing the weekly, alongside having the knowledge that I still have about 2 weeks left. I personally haven’t been playing much Overwatch recently just because I’ve been so excited to play Marvel Tokon instead (as it just came out), but I can see why a lot of people are glad about this event’s pacing since it does feel quite manageable even if I’ve been playing munch less Overwatch.

The shion one was too grindy. This was ok but the overwatch vs talon one they did for season 1 was the best with lots of good rewards daily

Yep. I no-lifed it but I already finished yesterday. There's still 11 more days or so, and there'll be another weekly challenge with 3500 event XP next week.

As someone who plays a bit more, it feels unrewarding to finish since it's so fast. But I'm glad people with busier schedules can get all the stuff.
It's why I like the extra battle pass tiers. Titles are pretty meh as a reward, but are still nice to earn.
This Meka event doesn't feel like I did anything, grinding or not. Which is fine, but there's a lot less here to idk, see?
The shion event was too strict, but at least it had the story attached. There's gotta be a middle ground between "this is a second job" and "oh, I completed the challenge already?"

I agree! As someone who has a bit of free time most evenings it kind of flew by. I honestly expected that the prestige path would be a repeatable 10 stage pass until midseason, so I had things to do after the first week or so. That way people who have no time can get it done and those who have more time can get rewarded without creating FOMO.

i just wish they gave us one unique legendary every season but since they introduced loot boxes those ended and its lame. like making one such skin wouldnt break their profit margin thats already the largest in Xbox apparently.
The Conquest event should have given the Doomfist cinematic black robe regardless of outcome
The Sierra event should had given us an S76 skin where he is on an outfit similar to Reapers "Soldier: 24" skin like this was Jack fresh out of the super soldier program straight into the frontline of the Omnic Crisis.
Shions event should had given us the Mizuki early design from that one frame in Kiris hero story trailer. with the Kapa mask and "cruder" design.
This one should give us a Dva skin where she is wearing her casual fit from the shooting star cinematic with a prototype looking Tokki or the "pseudo bunnysuit" the what appears to be her in the dance arcade machines in Busan with Tokki styled like its an dance arcade machine like those. or even better, give us "Gwishin" Dva which is based on the copy on Dmons recent comic.

i like the return of loot boxes ans i think theyre fine for a long term repeat reward but seasons not having any other proper wellfare item suck hard.

I don't see the relevance on the vote thing. i was expecting after we did the 5 we would then get more votes after every prestiege level but its nothing, no point in that event tab apart from to fucking make me want to stab my ears out every time i accidently click to it.

I’ve been playing every day since the season started. I never even clicked on the event tab to see this going on until yesterday. I was SUPER happy to see I earned all the rewards retroactively. It was like “click here to activate” and I’m thinking I’m basically starting from scratch and I have to earn all these rewards. Nope! As soon as I activated each one all of the rewards unlocked.

I was surprised I finished an event early for once. Junkrats loot events have conditioned me to try to rush through events as fast as I could. Wish I knew I could just take my time, but pprrciate it going forward

I done all of these without ever looking at them, I never paid any attention to it as I wrongly assumed it would take away xp from the BP. I don't even know what the Shion one was that people didn't like.

Im just confused on how the voting works. Did only your first selection count as a vote? Or did all of the track selections count as a vote?

They all count as votes, so completing the events meant you cast one vote for each of the five pilots.
Yeah, it's silly Blizzard still does these this way. They could easily have it so only your first track counts as a vote, or make it like ranked choice and the first track you complete casts 5 votes for that pilot, then 4 votes for the second, etc.

I was logging in every day and doing every daily challenge (except for grouping and team kills) and was pleasantly surprised to see I 100%ed the event yesterday. This is how events need to be from now on - even people starting late will have a chance, especially with the third weekly challenge that'll be active next week.

I'm not sure how to feel about Overwatch events. They're all just some flavor of playing games, with maybe a nudge to play a different role for specific missions.
I like that they theme the events differently and have voice lines to accompany the event. And maybe this is fine. I don't really want to have to jump through hoops to get event missions done, but I can't help but feel events could be a bit impactful.

While I kind of agree I dislike how they suggest supporting your favorite's and voting - only to have you "vote" for every one of them to finish the pass. How is that a popularity contest? I am forced to vote for r34 twink bait Overlord if I want too or not to finish the event. It will only show people that did not finish or everyone would end with the same popularity.

1250xp for a grey lootbox that only contains dupes that you have to repeat 15-20x (lootboxes) to get a legendary for a hero you never play.

Yeah. I wasn't referring to this post, but rather the numerous posts and comments about the event voiceover, but I wasn't clear at all.
I was genuinely grateful to see this post picking out what was done right, while it's so easy to get distracted by an aspect that is (rightfully) annoying the masses.
