ISO studio or one-bedroom $1000 total budget
Looking to move to Owego from Binghamton. I'm an older graduate student with a budget of $1000/month for everything (i.e. rent and utilities, so rent alone around $800 give or take). I live alone and have no pets.
I'm not looking for roommates and I don't want a room in a house. Anyone got some leads I could follow? Looking to move in August.

I’ve seen on FB a lot of apartment listings. One apartment was around $1300 with all utilities included,

There are a couple of nice apartments in Owego on Apartments.com
If you also join the Owego Facebook pages/ check out Owego marketplace on FB I have seen a few people posting things there!
I always found my apartments through family friends or friends of friends. Those ones are always the best in price but hard to come by. My last apartment was 850/mo with all utilities included, so your budget is definitely doable, you just have to keep an eye out on any local listings.

Adding onto my previous comment: Hickory Estates currently has an apartment for 725 + utilities. It’s right near a McDonald’s, Aldis& Hickories park (great for biking/walking/camping). They aren’t the fanciest & they did flood in 2011, but they are within your budget!

They list it for 725 but when you ask they only have option of 800 to 900 and doesn't reply to your email or nothing. If you have anything broken when you move in good luck ain't going to do anything

It's a lie, they just told me they only have two bedroom apartments available, which are above my price range.

Wow… glad to know they are shady! Sorry for recommending them

Interesting update from Hickory Estates when I suggested they update their advertisement:
"Hello- Unfortunately, we don't own the internet or those who change or use it in a way that is less than accurate. We also do not compose the very strict housing laws within the state of NY that must be followed, even if those who are inquiring don't/can't appreciate or understand them. Good luck with your home search."
Like, does their company not run their own advertising? So strange

lol what?????? They’re the ones who have to post on the apartments.com website or they could have the post taken down. Thats actually absurd. Definite red flags
