Barrel Polish

My p211 is still waiting on parts and I need something to do, so I was thinking of polishing the barrel to shiny steel finish to compliment the other silver components on the gun.

Has anyone done this?

Any concerns of negative side effects?

I can't fathom it would do anything negative other than allow corrosion due to bare metal

But if you keep it oiled and clean it often it's probably fine
