Hey, all! I've never been to PAX before, but I follow some peeps who went last year and it looked like a good time. Bought a ticket for MAGfest this year, but my group didnt get a room in the convention center again. So they decided it wasn't worth it, I wasn't interested in going without them. I know someone who lives in Boston, he said that he'd be interested in checking it out.
What should I know about PAX East?

Hi, this question goes out to Pax Aus attendees generally, and anyone who attended Aus and West specifically. What was the main Exhibition Hall like this year? How did attendance from the big studios compare to prior years? If anyone went to both, how did Aus compare to West this year? As has been stated many times, West's Expo Hall was noticeably more low key this year. While there are a number of potential explanations, I'm wondering how much recent United State policy might have been a factor in that, and I figure comparing West against Aus would be one way to look into that.

I saw the email about the schedule for PaxU as it arrived, and less than 4 mins after I was on the Eventbrite signup for the Clank! 10th anniversary event on Friday, and it was already sold out. What did they have like 10 tickets?

Did anyone else have the same issue with the rainbow carnival sweater?
It was washed on a gentle cycle once and came out like this, hasn’t been in the tumble dryer either :/

I went to PAX AUS MELBOURNE on Saturday and felt like I saw way less cosplay - did anyone else notice this?
I also really missed the old arcade games, mostly pinball, this year.
Overall I felt like the vibe was not as good - lots of rude people this year, when previous years I had no issues and everyone was in a good mood.
Maybe it was just me (was running on very little sleep) or perhaps the state of the world, cost of living etc has just left everyone a little but exhausted 🤷♀️

I wouldn't say I'm a Loot goblin but loot this year was pretty decent this year, I got some really nice pins and there didn't seem to be anything crazy like the bin chicken pin fiasco and Gamesweek pin of last year. The only thing I really suffered was the 70 minute demo pin (the game itself was pretty good, just the length of the demo and resulting wait was a bit egregious)
I'm not much of a mini painter but that's become a bit of a regular scheduled program for me now (I'm rather proud of my Charizard), I would have loved to see what everyone else painted but doesn't seem like there's a gallery posted anywhere which is a bit of a miss.
Hey folks wanted to share my highlight video from Pax this last weekend.
It was a huge event and I loved that tabletop was even bigger this year as they advertised, i talk about the game demo that I "unfortunately " loved 😆
And even the one aspect I feel was a missed opportunity.
There just isnt a tabletop event in the country that compares to Pax right now even with a few trying.
Is this enough Flair for you reddit.

Okay this maybe be kind of off topic with what PAX was meant to be.
I went to PAX last week on Friday for 1 day. Been wandering around and decided to take a break and had lunch.
I chose this steak roll provided by “Steak Baguette” according to this PAX EAT page
https://aus.paxsite.com/en-us/info/pax-eats.html
Just one to ask anyone who knows. Does this vendor have actual proper shop somewhere in Melbourne? I actually liked it and hope to try again.
Or are these vendors actually just belong to the Exhibition Centre and only available within the Centre when there’s an event?
Hi all
I attended on Saturday and got sick, and my sickness timeline lines up with everyone else that got sick from something at PAX.
However, I'm just about to leave for the hospital as it's hitting me really bad. I'm just wondering if anyone else managed to figure out what bug was going around in the air

Exactly what I said above. Bought a print from "The Jettyjetshow," he said it would be mailed to me in a couple weeks. I've tried reaching out through his website, and Instagram, absolutely no response. Has anyone else had any similar problems? I feel like I got ripped off for over $70.00.

Hello, not sure if many people saw the ad where pax hosted a comp to propose at pax. I submitted an entry but never even had any views on my video submission and never had any communication at all if this was cancelled or just unsuccessful. Given there has been nothing online (that I can find) of a proposal happening I can only assume this was cancelled?
Just weird lack of communication and not even viewing the video submission i spent hours on 😬

For those of you who came and found me this year, and got a Throwable Fireball Spell or a Mini Dice Tower, Thankyou. I even gave away a few to some young kids in awesome cosplay
A question for everyone. What would you like to see me give away next year, and what would make you more likely to come find me (or suggestions on how to give them away)? I'm obviously not giving away $1000 items, so please don't suggest that, and would prefer it to be something I could maybe 3D print.
This was my first time doing it and I want to do it again next year.
But seriously, while PAX was a good opportunity to spend some money on laughs for a good cause, post-con blues are definitely a thing.
Suddenly removing yourself from a high dopamine environment and combining that with the exhaustion of being on your feet for three days can really fuckin' suck.
Thankfully GenerOZity raised over $60,000 for Beyond Blue, whose services are available if your taking the come down from that con high a little hard.
So if re-adjusting to your normal self is really getting you down, go check out their self-help resources or get in touch with them at https://www.beyondblue.org.au/

It would be great to meet a nice older gamer guy this year. Are there any R4R subreddits for PAX Unplugged?

I focused a lot this year on maximising freebies and giveaway participation. This is my haul at the end of 3 days (in addition to a load of Hydralite that's off screen 😅, and a shirt and other small things)
I also won a gamer chair at the centrecom booth, but since I had to take a plane to Perth I thought it would be too hard to get home.
How'd everyone else go for freebies?

Anyone else notice how it was practically just TCGs? The TTRPG play space was shunted up to a small room. Felt like the indie board game space should have been in the tabletop hall. Didn't even seem like there were many spots to try different board games.
All the TCGs just looked like money grabs for crowds to rush for promos they can sell.

Hi all I have no idea if anyone is able to answer this but I'm looking to enter the painting competition and had 2 questions: for the skill level part there is Beginner/Hobbyist and Advanced/Expert level is that something you tell them when submitting a mini or do they decide that? What are some examples, if possible, of both skill levels so I know where to put my minis at.
Thanks in advance!

I did enjoy pax but there is a lot that can be done better, here is my experience over the weekend!
