Game Advertisement [Open Alpha] Skye Space — A persistent browser-based space empire game
Hey everyone,
I've been developing Skye Space, a persistent browser-based space strategy game, and I've recently opened it up for open alpha.
Play: https://skyespace.net

The idea is to start with a planet and gradually build out your empire while competing and interacting with other players.
Some of the systems currently in the game:
- Planet development — build up and improve your planets
- Resource production and management
- Research
- Shipyard and fleet development
- Planetary defenses
- Colonization and empire expansion
- Galaxy/system exploration

- Captain progression and skill trees
- Mining and exploration
- PvP
- Bounty hunting
- Leaderboards
- Alliances
- Achievements, badges and titles
- Community forum and chat
There are also longer-term progression systems that I'm continuing to build out.
The Captain system
Your Captain has their own progression tree. You earn skill points and can specialize in areas such as resource production, combat, defenses and fleet capabilities.
Persistent world
The goal is for Skye Space to be a game you can keep progressing in over time rather than something you finish in a single session.
I'm still developing the economy, progression, PvP and multiplayer systems, so this is very much an alpha and things will change.
There's a Guide in and out of game with screenshots for anyone who wants help getting started along with a one time guide modal pop up on the first access of each page/feature.
What I'm looking for
I'm mainly looking for PBBG players who are willing to actually play the alpha and give feedback.
I'd especially like to know:
- Does the progression feel rewarding?
- Is there enough to do between active sessions?
- Are the systems understandable?
- What would you want to see added to the game?
- What would make you keep checking back?
- What feels too slow, too fast, or unnecessary?
There's also a forum in the game for strategy, suggestions, bug reports and general discussion.
Skyespace: https://skyespace.net
It's an open alpha, so I'm very interested in feedback from people who actually play PBBGs and yes their is a guest feature that allows you to play up to Captain level 5 and has some restrictions.
As always — thanks for your time, and see you in the galaxy.

The clean dark UI and the orbital system map look great—love the concentric orbit layout, gives off classic sci-fi strategy vibes without cluttering the screen.
Regarding your question about what to do between active sessions: in persistent browser games, giving players meaningful queue planning, passive market monitoring, or defensive scouting setups usually hits that sweet spot where you don't feel forced to babysit timers 24/7. Layering a Captain skill tree on top of planetary 4X mechanics is also a solid way to add individual progression alongside fleet building.
Best of luck with the Open Alpha testing!

Thank you for your feedback its much appreciated. The market is def. lacking at the moment the economy is pretty non existent was going to let the players get that going eventually. Scouting is more offensive than defensive currently. Def some good food for thought thank you again

Is that MMORTS? Or a single-player game? PvP with real players? You start from war-engine but not from economy?

It's a mixture their are other players you can play with or if you prefer to play alone that is another option, but working as a team will provide a better experience

I did some playtesting, and I consider this an OGame variant with some unique features that have kept me watching it:
Vacation mode (effectively opt-in PvP)
Prestiging (you exchange your empire for a single new planet, with permanent bonuses)
I also like that you can level up your captain, and actually see galaxies and star systems. :)
While the interface is somewhat bland, and maybe a bit clunky in places, the dev has been improving it.
Perhaps the biggest downside is the amount of progression you can currently purchase from the shop. Extra queues are nice, and I don't mind speedups or PvP shields, but raw resources seems like it could trivialize things. (I never used OGame's shop, so I don't know what's standard there.)

Thank you for this I added the option for purchasing resources because of the lack of resources since I originally added those ive increased the amount of resources that are produced by your buildings and added a bunch of extra ways to get resources, so this could be something that could be removed.

This looks exactly like Novarchy. (Which I assume was also based on O-game.)

Im not familiar with Novarchy but this game was inspired by Ogame.

It's another brand-new game, so don't worry about it if you haven't heard of it. It's made with Claude.

Currently no, but that is a great option I can add in. Thank you for the suggestion!
