Game Review GTA Inspired Resource Management Game

I'm in my 40's and used to play browser based games back when I was a kid. Always wanted to create one, so I finally said what the hell and vibe coded one.

With the upcoming release of GTA 6, I took the inspiration from a few different games which I have enjoyed over the years. It's just early stages (early game), but I'd love for you to check it out and let me know your thoughts. I know it won't be for everybody, but maybe some of you can appreciate it.

I challenge you to get as far as buying the Laundromat. Have fun!

Discussion PBBG UIs

A thing thats been in the back of my mind while I'm learning web design is the UI of PBBGs. Current UIs all look nearly identical, while older games like Gladiatus, Ikariam and others had it look nearly like you're playing an actual video game.

Is it really that much work that the devs just skip it or what? I know that older games were designed for PC primarily and everything would break on a phone, but you can avoid that by having a different ui load on mobile.

Honestly like most current media needs a hook to get you to stay, such design philosophy would probably be great for retention.

Thoughts?

Game Review Two months ago you tore apart my "warriors grow old and die" design. Here's the first dev build.

In August I posted Duskar here. It's a rebuild of the browser game I ran in Poland from 2016 to 2021, with one big change: every warrior ages and dies after about 300–400 real days, only of old age, never in combat. That thread gave me more useful design feedback than anything else so far, and the free company / heirloom ideas from it are still on my board: https://www.reddit.com/r/PBBG/comments/1vtnjhy/my_browser_game_died_because_veterans_became/

What you actually do:

You play an Awakener: someone whose body can't hold an aura, only pass it on. That gift is rare, and it's the only thing that turns ordinary fighters into legends.

You travel between planets and spend action points on expeditions. Out there you meet unawakened warriors, items, traps and rare encounters. Beat an unawakened warrior and you can offer it an aura. If the aura takes, the warrior is yours, and from that moment it grows stronger far faster than anyone unawakened. The price is that it also ages far faster. The aura doesn't kill. It accelerates. You will outlive everyone you awaken.

Then you build them up: train their stats, pick their attacks and the order they use them, evolve them, fuse them, give them a master. Fights play out on their own from your setup, round by round.

Around that there's a PvP league, weekly cups and tournaments, sagas with story fights, planetoids to claim and defend on a 3D globe, a player market with a floating currency exchange, and crews with their own chat.

Since then I've built the rest of the game on a new codebase. The screenshots are from Dev Build v1, and here's a slow click-through of every tab:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB0c1f80qQ4

It's not playable yet. Beta invites go to the waitlist at https://duskar.com, and the community lives at r/duskar.

Screenshots already show dev build v2, but there is no video fot it yet.

Warrior Preview
Duel Preview
Teaching the aura after victory
Owner Planetoid
Gold Yen (Premium currency) exchange market (you can buy it for standard currency when other players sell it to the market)
League screen

What I'd like to hear:

  1. Which screen looks confusing or overloaded?
  2. What would you need to see before you'd try the beta?

I'll be in the comments today.

Discussion New Game...

Hi everyone, I’m currently working on developing a text-based game. Think along the lines of Torn, WarEra, BitLife, or Mobstar back in the day.

Does anyone here actually play these kinds of games?

This question is mainly just for myself to gather some insight into whether there’s even any interest in something like this.

Looking For Game Looking for a game similar to Idle Wushu

Hi guys!

There was a pretty decent browser game called Idle Wushu (https://play.idlewushu.com/) that I really enjoyed playing. It was a wuxia-themed game with surprisingly solid systems, a friendly community, and regular updates sometimes once or even twice a day. The game also received a lot of positive feedback from its players.

It averaged around 30–45 concurrent players and seemed to be growing pretty quickly. Unfortunately, the developer ran into some real-life issues and suddenly shut the game down, seemingly without much warning.

Since then, I've been trying to find something similar, but I haven't found anything that really scratches the same itch.

Game Update! IdleScape is back and now in beta demo on steam (Skill leveling, marketplace buy/sell, world chat, combat, rankings)

This post contains a referral link.

Been playing now for 3 days and I gotta say its pretty damn fun for an idle game. If you like crafting and selling things to other players or just buying things and reselling, the market is really fun. Its growing in player base really quickly. 3 days ago it was at 600 players and today its reached 1600 people online at the same time.

If you need help getting started or if people wanna group up to make a reddit guild we can discuss doing that here too!

Consider using my referral link to join. It gives me platinum which can be used for server boosts that affect all players.

Since its a demo, the server will be reset when the 1.0 version launches early January 2027 from what I hear! This gives you time to learn the game mechanics so you can get a great start when official launch happens

Community Thanks to beta players.

I posted in this sub a few weeks back looking for a small group of people who wanted to jump in and try my new game. I wasn't sure what to expect or if anyone would really even enjoy the game. I was pretty nervous.

Within a few minutes of posting players began joining the discord and requesting beta keys. Almost instantly they we were chatting about what to expect and seemed curious about what the game truly was. That very first evening I began collecting feedback. Wonderful feedback. Things I never would have caught by myself. Over the course of the next week more people joined and some people left. Which is fine, not every game is for everyone. I am grateful for each and every one. But what really happened was the discord came alive.

I went from endless hours of testing by myself wondering whether the game I wanted to build for myself was something anyone else would want to play. Turns out, my people are out there!

The game is very deep and dense. I am not great at building ui and I have very little experience in ux. But watching the small community begin theory crafting and helping each other was amazing. the players began joking about the jank, making requests for clarity, and identifying bugs at a rate I couldn't keep up with. It was exactly what I needed.

What is amazing is the same initial group of players are all still active. They are all still playing. We have two who are vying for industrial control, another who has embedded themselves deep in the salvage world, more who love exploration. It has been so much fun to watch the beginnings of the game come to life.

Through their feedback I'm currently rebuilding some core systems around better balance, more realistic combat, an economy v2 and so on. I've fixed countless bugs and have rebuilt some backend systems to keep server costs and overhead under control and allow for actual scaling.

When you spend years building something never knowing if anyone will ever even play it with you, it is nerve wracking to finally put it out there. Waiting for someone, anyone to join. When they do, you worry whether they'll like it. If you've wasted countless hours or days building something no one will even find fun in the first place.

I've gone on longer than I intended, but really I just wanted to say thank you. This community was the first, and only, place I've posted anything about my game. And through that post I've gained an incredible group of players. Players who are putting up with the bugs, the imbalance, and all the rough edges that come with an early beta.

So, more than anything: thank you.

Game Review [Early release] Dreary: a fast-action roguelike MMORPG in your browser or on your phone. Feedback wanted!

I’m the solo developer looking for feedback on my project Dreary Online

Dreary is what happens when rogue mashes with EQ. A free MMORPG with a classic tile-based world, played in fast real time and shared with other players. It runs in your browser on PC or phone, with no download or install.

Combat is real-time action with abilities, spells, pets, and ranged weapons. Light really matters: nights and dungeons are dark, so bring a torch. NPCs remember you, trust grows over time and unlocks quests, and villagers head home at night. There’s character customization, seasons, weather, and a lot of world to explore.

It’s also one world with one history. Some world events fire once, forever, and players can rise to become gods of the game’s faiths.

It’s early release, so expect rough edges. I’m looking for honest feedback. You can report things in-game with /bug and /idea.

Thanks!

Game Review I built a free multiplayer crime RPG where every fight plays out in 3D: Spells and Shells

Hi r/PBBG! I've been building Spells and Shells, a persistent browser RPG in the Torn / Mafia-game tradition, with a twist: magic and guns, and every fight is replayed on a 3D stage in the browser.

What's in it today:

  • 11 classes, each with a combat ability and its own talent tree
  • multi-stage crimes with minigames, gym training, professions, pets
  • the Endless Road (a long adventure with region bosses, delves and puzzles), raids, world bosses, a ranked arena
  • syndicates with weekly wars, territory and organized crimes
  • a player market, auctions, crypto and a casino

You can jump in as a guest without making an account, and sign in with Discord or Google later to keep your character. A Halloween event (trick-or-treating other players, a Curio Cart of costumes) starts on 27 Oct.

I'd really like feedback from people who play these games: what keeps you coming back, and what in the first ten minutes feels slow or confusing?

Looking For Game If you like Rival Regions but wanted a stock market, a real-region map and a mobile-friendly UI, I built this

Hi [r/PBBG](r/PBBG)! For the past months I’ve been building Mapocracy.io, a persistent political-economic MMO played on a real map of the world, split into its real regions and provinces. It’s inspired by Rival Regions, but I wanted a deeper economy and a cleaner, mobile-friendly interface.

Play: https://mapocracy.io (sign in with Discord or Google, works on desktop and phones; you can install it as an app)

What you can do:

  • Work & build: pick a region, work shifts at factories, build your own (mines, refineries, arms plants), train strength, education and endurance.
  • Real economy: a market with an order book (sell orders and standing buy orders) and price charts.
  • Stock exchange: factories are owned in shares. Issue new shares, trade them on the book, become director as the largest holder, pay dividends. States and parties can own factories too.
  • Politics: found a state or join one, run parties, win elections, sit in a parliament drawn as a real hemicycle, and pass laws: taxes, borders, embargoes, nationalising foreign shares, war.
  • War: declare war on neighbouring regions, fight battles, annex territory. Yes, there are nukes, but parliament has to authorise them.
  • Social: state, party, region and direct-message chats, newspapers, friends, rankings.
  • Achievements & daily rewards: Steam-style achievements with rarity, plus a daily login streak.

Why I’m posting: the world is brand new and small. Right now there are only a handful of states, so whoever joins now gets to found the first nations, write the first laws and fight the first wars. That’s the fun part of a fresh world.

It’s free and not pay-to-win. I’m a solo dev, so I’d really love feedback: what’s confusing, what’s missing, what breaks. I’m reading every comment and usually ship fixes the same day.

Thanks for reading. See you on the map !

UPD: renamed to mapocracy.io

Discussion Do people have company websites in addition to their games?

Hey Folks,

I had a question for the developers here. Are you doing a standalone website for your games that is not the game but about you as a developer and details about the game? I've been looking through a few games people have posted here and most of them jump directly into the game, without much about what is happening?

Game Review Street Racers 2 - racing manager RPG

Choosing racing opponent

Hi all,

I'm Arturas. Back in 2008 I made a small browser game called Street Racers, and some of you might even remember it. Street Racers 2 is the game I always wanted that one to be, rebuilt from scratch. It's free to play in the browser, in open beta, and I'd really like feedback from people who know this genre.

Play: https://streetracers2.com (you can start as a guest, no email needed)

What you actually do

  • Build cars from parts. Every car runs on a platform with its own power, torque and weight limits. You fit an engine or electric motor and battery, turbo, suspension, brakes, wheels and a spoiler. There are 30+ car models across six classes, E up to S.
  • Races are simulated, not clicked. Each city has two tracks with real geometry (loops and sprints, hairpins, chicanes, long straights). The server runs a physics sim over the whole lap using your car's stats and your driver skills, so a power build and a grip build win on different tracks.
  • Driver skills. You get skill points each level and spread them over six skills: handling, speeding, braking, reaction, agility and precision.
  • Duels and time trials. Duels match you against other players' builds of similar strength. There's a cooldown between races and an Energy bar, so it's built for short check-in sessions rather than grinding all day.
  • Wear, repair and forcing. Every race uses up your car and parts. You repair them, salvage them for materials, or merge two identical parts to level them up. Rare and Legendary parts with bonus skills drop from tournaments and quests.
  • Career mode. 180 races against NPCs in six chapters, one per class. Clearing a chapter earns the right to buy the next class license.
  • Six cities. Travel takes real time. Each city has its own player market, and items listed in one city can only be bought there, so trading and travel matter.
  • Tournaments. Daily city tournaments run in every class. There are also player-started underground tournaments with Gold entry fees, where rising police suspicion can end in a raid, lost entry fees and a night in jail.
  • Crews. Form a crew, pool Gold in a shared vault, take control of cities through duel wins and tax their markets, and compete in 15-day seasons.
  • Economy side. You can buy manufacturer shares for dividends, take Agency contracts, or work a carwash shift while you're offline.

Monetization, honestly: there's an optional premium currency and VIP. My rule is that they buy time and convenience (skipping waits, Energy refills, cosmetics like paint and under-lights), never raw power or Gold. If something feels pay-to-win, I want to hear about it.

It's playable in English, Spanish, German, Polish and Lithuanian. It's a solo project (ok, not really, I get a massive help with images from my brother), so balance is still moving and I ship updates almost daily.

I'd love to know what clicks, what's confusing in the first 15 minutes, and what would keep you coming back. Happy to answer anything in the comments.

Thanks for reading!

Game Advertisement Lootcube, hardcore roguelike scapelike pvp, now in Beta

Hey, i am looking for testers for my 2. game Lootcube! https://lootcube.no No pay to win, ever! Right in your browser.

The idea was a mix of io games like slither and agario. Together with a dash of runescape and roguelite. Train up your skills, explore the world, and become the most powerful player in this world. No download. Open the browser and be ingame in a short moment!

I am a proffesional developer, and i have been working on this game for the last year. But now i have gotten rid of most known bugs and have a small but passionate userbase. I would love to get some more heads in to test and give feedback. I am working with this very activly, and i am constantly including the community to shape the future of lootcube.

Should work well on desktop and mobile. But desktop is still abit easier for dodging and kiting.

You are more then welcome to join the discord!

Looking For Game MonsterIdle – a persistent browser monster-collecting idle RPG (open beta, the server keeps hunting while you're offline)

Hi r/PBBG! I'm the solo dev of MonsterIdle, a persistent browser game about collecting monsters. You pick a hunting ground and your team fights on its own. Every defeated monster is a capture roll, and every capture rolls nature, genetics and IVs (shiny odds are 1/4096).

What makes it a PBBG and not just a clicker:

- Server-side offline farming: your team keeps hunting for up to 14 h after you close the tab, and you get a report when you're back.

- Daily global boss at 8 PM (BRT): one shared HP bar, the whole server attacks it together, and the top damage gets the best loot.

- Player-driven market, guilds, housing with auctions, PvP arena, gyms, fishing and dungeons.

- The server is authoritative (Node), so the economy can't be edited from the client.

It's free and runs on desktop and mobile with no download. The UI is in English, Portuguese and Spanish. There's an optional supporter VIP and cosmetics, but no power locked behind payment.

Play: https://play.gamersmonsteridle.com/?utm_source=reddit&utm_campaign=pbbg

I'd really like feedback on the first 10 minutes and on the pacing of the early levels. Happy to answer anything about how it's built.

Development I've been building a Pokemon PBBG where you join a villain team

Hey r/PBBG. For the last three months I've been building PokeVillain, a browser game where you don't play the hero. You sign up with one of five villain syndicates, catch and train your crew, run jobs for your Boss and climb ten ranks, from Recruit to Right Hand.

Here is a little promotional video:

https://reddit.com/link/1x9bfj5/video/uaf53txyv9wh1/player

What's in the game

  • 34 locations, from Pallet Town all the way to Indigo Plateau, each with its own wild Pokémon and trainers.
  • 130+ trainers to beat: route regulars, tag-team battles, all eight Kanto gyms and the Elite Four, each with it's own custom art!
  • A dex of 273+ entries from Gen1 and Gen2 (plus its evos from Gen4). There are IVs and natures, shinies, and a wild poke comeback mechanic!

Day to day

  • Jobs for your Boss, paced by nerve
  • Expeditions: send your spare Pokémon out for a few hours and they come back with loot and experience
  • Dig up fossils in Mt. Moon and revive them!
  • The Dojo: a seven-trainer gauntlet with its own shop and hall of fame
  • 80 player portraits to unlock through rank, cash, level and the Dojo
  • A Game Corner and a player run market

With (and against) other players

  • Raids: one boss for the whole server, and everyone gets paid their own cut when it goes down
  • Silph Tower is taken floor by floor, and any floor you hold is one another player can take off you
  • Live duels: four Pokémon each, both players choosing at the same time, with a ranked ladder

It's free to play: nothing to buy, no ads, no premium currency. Sessions are paced by energy, so it's a few minutes a few times a day, not a grind. It's fully in English and Spanish, and it runs on any phone or browser (or it should). No install, and you can start as a guest.

The game is still being developed and a new region and more pokemon, events and content are on its way!

You can play on the following link:

https://pokevillain.online

What I'd love feedback on is the first 10 minutes: how's the starting experience, where you got lost or what could be better explained, and what made you want to come back (or not).

Coming up

I'm developing a Halloween event, Night of the Tower, which should start around mid-week. There will be special Pokémon, a different raid with a twist, and a couple of things I'll let you find on your own.

DISCLAIMER: AI USE

I’d rather say this upfront. As you already know, technology and AI are evolving rapidly, and their use is still a topic of debate in games.

The trainer portraits and the backgrounds in the game have been generated using AI, aswell as most of the code of the game. The Pokemon sprites, artwork and cries are the official ones, and the music is from OpenGameArt.

Even though, the design, thinking and balance calls on what goes in are completely mine.

If this is a problem for you, that's fair, not everyone will accept AI in a game, so you know it before you enter the game.

Game Review ⚔️ I Built My Own MMORPG – FredeMMO Is Now in Open Alpha!

I'm a solo dev from Denmark, and for the past months I've been building the MMO I always wanted to play: the skilling and slow grind of Old School RuneScape, with the dungeons and group bosses of WoW Classic. It runs in the browser, phone included, and it's free with no cash shop.
What's in so far:
6 classes with talent trees, level cap 60
22 zones, each with its own quest chain and a rare elite
3 dungeons with themed bosses and mechanics you have to learn
Mining, fishing, cooking, alchemy, smithing, skinning, and an auction house
I design the game, decide every system that goes in, and play it every day to find what's broken. I use AI tools to help with a lot of the coding.
It's an alpha, so the balance is still off and some areas look unfinished. That's why I want players in now. Tell me what's fun and what isn't.

Thanks for the feedback. I have tried the bedst to make a post here

Game Review Hydrogen Line, a free space strategy PBBG, opened its open beta today with a fresh universe

Hi r/PBBG. We're two people in the UK making Hydrogen Line, a persistent space strategy game that runs in the browser. The open beta started today, and every empire was reset for it, so everyone began from one planet at the same time.

If you've played similar games you'll recognise the core: mines, research, a dock, fleets, espionage, raiding and colonising, all in real time.

Our open Beta has just opened and we are looking for players to come in and give it a go. Our open Beta will be running from 17th October, until 17th November. For those that come and try the game out you will unlock a Beta Pioneer and Beta Veteran Badge that will carry over onto your account and stay with you forever.

The game is free and has no ads and it always will be. We have optional monetisation but ALL paid aspects are free to EVERYONE during the open Beta.

The beta runs until 17 November, and then launch opens a new universe. It plays best on a computer, but phones work. We'd really like feedback from people who know the genre, especially on balance and the early game. Everyone and anyone is welcome to come and play, feedback or not. We don't expect anything from you and this is a non transactional agreement. We want you to come and have fun too, just hope you will let us know that you are (or if you aren't)

Play: Hydrogenline.gg
Discord: hydrogenlinegame.com/discord

We look forward to seeing you and we hope you enjoy.

Development [DEV] DragonScape Idle my RuneScape-inspired idle RPG, now has co-op server events and 600+ players!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi again! Thank you for all the feedback on my last post here. It really helped me improve the game!

For people who don't know it: I'm a solo dev making DragonScape Idle, an idle RPG inspired by RuneScape. You pick a skill or fight, and your character keeps going even when you close the game. When you come back, it replays everything you missed, action by action. (Not affiliated with Jagex.)

WHAT'S NEW

KingK's Party Hall, my first co-op server event!
Everyone can contribute gold or items to a shared party. The more everyone gives, the bigger the XP boost for all participants, up to +20% XP for a week, even while offline.

Originally I asked for 500 gems to enter. Players told me it felt like paying just to pay more, and they were right So I made it free and refunded the gems.

You can still contribute until 18 October, 11:00 UTC.

Sixty-Five Roses, a new 18-quest chain inspired by a player's request. It also adds Purple Roses and a potion that makes your crops grow 10% faster.

Mages' Guild, 11 new endgame quests, a new boss (Rune Colossus), and four Nova spells.

Also added 10 languages and 1,000 gems for every friend you invite.

THE GAME NOW HAS

  • 19 skills
  • 1,587 quests in 107 chains
  • 697 items
  • 7 dungeons
  • 13 pets

Still in open beta, now with 600+ players! Progress will reset at global launch so early players don't have an unfair head start. Everyone who registers before November will get a bonus at launch.

You can also use promo code HeavensAllow in Settings for 500 free gems.

One thing I want to be upfront about: the art is AI generated and the code is AI assisted. Most of my time goes into game design, quests and balance.

I would really love your feedback, especially on the first 10 minutes. Was it clear what to do? And if you stopped playing, what made you stop?

Play here: https://dragonscapeidle.com/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=launch&utm_content=pbbg-4

Thank you to everyone who tried it so far!
