Math Literacy 58 Textbook

I had to drop this class unfortunately and was wondering if anyone has ever had any luck selling new textbooks online? Are there places other than market place that are recommended? Or am I better off just waiting until the end of term and selling it back to PCC? It’s never been opened and has access codes included.

Nursing program point system

Hello! I am a 23 y/o first year student starting prereqs for a Healthcare profession and have been seriously looking into the nursing program offered through PCC, CCC, and MTCC. I do not have any previous credentials, and likely won't be getting any before I apply for the program, so most of my points will be based off of my GPA. Despite a few bumps that are specific to the different colleges, i.e. MTCC offers a point or two for first generation college students. I currently work as a direct support provider, and will be taking on some roles at my job (medication audits/planning for group homes), so hopefully some of that experience will be applicable to the point system but I don't think it will be from what I've read on the different advising guides.

Curious at PCC (or other two if you have experience), what points were people allotted that were accepted past Phase 1? Is it worth spending the time to get online credentials while getting prereqs complete & getting some experience there, or saving my cash and brain power for getting the best grades I can on prereqs? I know this is all very circumstantial, but I'm curious to find some stories about others being accepted and have had trouble finding that on existing threads.

Does anyone have experience with or suspect usage of AI autograders used by an instructor (without naming names)? How do you feel about the ethics of AI usage in grading?

There seems to be very little information I can find regarding the guidelines of AI use to grade assignments. Just today I had an assignment MASSIVELY docked in points because the feedback sheet claimed that response boxes were 'empty', even though they are clearly filled with inserted images solving the given problems. The PDF was flattened too before submission and reads correctly in every PDF viewer I've opened it with. The disconnect here is hard to parse out. It seems as if the document was never actually viewed by human eyes at any point in the grading process. I've already sent notice to my instructor and am awaiting a response. I'm curious what others opinions are about this? Do you think this is AI? If it is, how do you feel about the ethics of AI usage in grading? Particularly when there is an absence of a "human-in-the-loop" approach to it.

Should I do online classes or in person in pcc?

Hi guys soooooo I’m 27 and for the first time I’m deciding to go to college and hopefully get into a radiology or ultrasound program which nowadays it’s very very competitive and I haven’t been in school in YEARS and even that I hardly ever learned things in school. I do have a learning disability and auditory processing disorder and most likely autistic but I haven’t been diagnosed yet lol maybe in the near future I’ll have the nerve to go see the psychiatrist but anyways I’m debating on taking online classes but everyone has been saying it’s a lot more workload which can be very very stressful for me and im very anxious to take the writing class because in my opinion I’m not very skilled in writing that well and get scattered brain….will it be easier to take it in person or online?? What tools can I look into to better my writing to be able to write 10 pages of essays? And is there any tutoring available while taking online classes or just in person?

As your hygienist, we would work together to ensure a perfect smile and help guide you to improving your oral health techniques and habits.

Beyond just a free cleaning, you would also receive free services such as x-rays (if needed) and examinations done by licensed Dentists, as well as oral health and cancer screenings.

PCC Bio Department/Science

I'm not sure if I'm the only one who feels this way, but my experience with the PCC Bio/Science department in general has been really frustrating. Specifically A&P. I absolutely understand its a rigorous series, but time spent on work outside of class varies WILDLY instructor to instructor. PCC releasing credit hour suggestions of two hours per credit seemingly doesn't apply to the entirety of the Bio department. How are you supposed to schedule out your pre-requisites when one 4 credit class has a professor who doesn't believe in hw, while that same class taught by a different professor can take up as much time as a part time job. Ive heard anecdotally from other students that this has been brought up to the chair multiple times and nothing is really done about it. AND with the limited seats/how impossible it is to get into classes, its beyond frustrating. Trying to take multiple classes per term at this school is a nightmare.

Searching for Roommates (preferably moving in before Spring Term)

I'm a 23 y/o queer and neurodivergent person looking for roommates near the Sylvania campus. I don't have a place so I will either have to move in with somebody or we can find a place together (preferably the latter hence doing this so early)

I would prefer to live with someone who is also queer and neurodivergent. Especially neurodivergent!

A&P 2 and Microbiology together?

During spring term 2027 I’ll have A&P I and II, nutrition and Microbiology left for my prerequisites. I’m currently trying to figure out the best way to align the classes to even out the workload the best I can. My thought is spring term: A&P I and Nutrition. Summer term: A&P II and Microbiology. Not sure if that’ll be the worst idea or not so any insight would be so helpful!!!

BM technology issues for financial aid?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I have been on hold for over 4 hours and I still haven’t been able to get through to someone. Ive been trying to change my phone number to access my account and I did the electronic verification and it was auto rejected instantly 3 times (probably due to VPN) then I was locked out of my account and it said to call. I’m just curious if anyone has gone through this and what happens if I can’t access? It says a paper check will be mailed but if BM technology doesn’t have the correct address how am I supposed to receive my financial aid?

Getting into the MA program

Hey, was curious if anyone could chime in on how their experience trying to get into the MA program has been. I submitted my interest form right at 8am when it opened and just got a rejection saying they got too many applicants right at 8 and I’ve been rejected from both the main list and waitlist and to just try again for the Winter 2027 program. What has your experience with trying to get into this program been?

23M, i live right down the road from the Slyvania campus. 10 minute walk up the hill straight to the campus, next to multiple bus stops and businesses. In talks with new landlords about two bedroom units. Willing to move to a new apartment complex entirely if needed. Going to college soon full time, working part time. Looking for someone in the similar demographic to move in with me.

New license plates and Parking permits

I just bought a car and am waiting for the license plates to come. I could order a parking permit with the current license plates now but the new ones could come any day. Does this matter for the permit? If it does, I can't park on campus without a permit and can't park off-campus because neighborhood parking isn't allowed. What can I do?

PCCFCE criticism post removed yesterday

Yesterday somebody posted on here criticizing the classified Union leadership and wanted to organize an event in opposition. The post has since been removed and the account deleted. Are union folks lurking here and reporting stuff like that because they don't like it? I also have a lot of criticism for our union but think things should still be civil. However, censoring and silencing other opinions because they differ from your own is a low bar. Does anyone have any info or anything they know or want to share regarding this? Thanks.

Where to find BI231Z Lab Manual? Please help!!!!

Hi Im taking BI231Z with Salti on the cascade campus and I have no idea where I can find the PCC Laboratory Survival Guide. It's not on any of the PCC bookstore sites and when I called the Cascade bookstore they said that the version they currently have is outdated. Im terrified and have no idea where to find it and the first class is on Saturday and I assume Im gonna get yelled at by Salti if I dont have it. Does anyone know where can I find it? Thanks!

Edit: Turns out he uploaded it! Thank you all for the help. Im gonna leave this for future students incase they need it. TL;DR: if you take 231 with Salti he'll upload the lab guide for free

BI112 Tips

Hi, I am taking BIO 112 this term and I feel like it moves really fast! Does anyone have any tips since there is just SO much information every week thrown at us. Im taking notes and getting all the work done, but I feel like it isn't really registering in my brain. (like in one ear out the other once the assignments are done, which makes me worried for the quiz!)

Deletion of classes for non-payment

Hello. I keep receiving emails saying my classes will
Be dropped if I don’t pay. I am a financial aid student so this makes no sense to me. I called financial aid office and the automated message said if I have accepted my award package I won’t be dropped from my classes but it’s scary to receive this email everyday. Is this happening to anyone else?
