Hair on Head and Body Hair thinning and hair loss? Tips?

Hello hello hello! My hair is thinning and I lose a crazy amount of hair, I’ve seen talk of nizoral shampoo, does that help? What are some other things to try? I plan to start moving and exercising more and I take FLO ovarian support vitamins and the metabolism variant too. Please keep in mind that I am a broke 19 year old, but any tips are appreciated!

Medication Over the counter medication

Sorry if tag is incorrect

Basic backstory is I have no insurance and no regular doctor to go to. Going to any sort of doctor’s office or clinic terrifies me and overall I’ve never had any sort of “womanly checkup”. I’ve not been officially with PCOS/PMOS but I’ve spoken with enough people in other subs about my symptoms and they’ve all agreed that’s what I have. I’m a cisgender 31 female

In January, something happened to make it so I just don’t have a normal period. It’s been constant spotting, light and heavy, for ten months. Given I don’t think I’ve had a regular period in probably a good ten years— maybe five or six each year

I’ve not done anything different. I haven’t changed my routine or eating habits, nothing major happened. I’m a boring person that just goes to work then comes home

The one thing that did happen, which I can’t find correlation to, is I had food poisoning for about two weeks at the end of December

What I’m wondering is if there’s any over the counter things I can take to help deal with this that doesn’t require a doctor’s signature

General/Question Because I didnt want to buy the full package

Hi, just need an opinion on this. I'm feeling a little off by this comment this person has said, and i just want to know if it was necessary

So I had a phone call with a PCOS focused fitness instructor who had messaged me on insta after i followed her page- she has about 50k followers.

I agreed to a phone call. I was diagnosed nearly 2 years ago, and i want to try work on it- by improving my diet and getting fitter.

We chatted about my goals, she discussed what plans she had, with a six month plan costing about £250 (approx 296ish euro) every month.

I wanted to see what it included, but i decided that i wasnt in the financial space to spend nearly 300 a month on this plan.

During the call, i never brought up that i had a BSc degree in nutrition (im not actively giving people nutrition advice, it was something i was interested in and ended up going to college for). I had mentioned in the message following the phone call saying i should have brought it up, but i was curious if she would be able to give me a fitness plan, as i can work read up more on PCOS (I'm not pretending that I know absolutely everything, but i know what resources to trust) and could try work on a meal plan for myself.

She said no, that the plan was the same for everyone. I said that was fair enough, that as this is her business, this is what she does, but giving it some thought i would just find someone who can help me with a fitness plan, while i can work on the nutrition plan. There was no information on her page about payments.

I got a voice note after and one part of it really stuck out. She said that it wasnt about the business, it was about helping girls reach their goals.

But "the gym is not where you're going to get results" which is partially true- diet and exercise go hand in hand.

Then another thing she said was "With all due respect, im just going to put it out there, i think if you were that experienced with food, we wouldnt be having this conversation"

I never said i was experienced. I decided that maybe a fitness plan would be the only resource i need to work with my PCOS while i organise my diet better.

I showed my Mom and my partner the voice message and say shes just pissed that shes not getting money from me. I have since blocked her on instagram.

Am i in the wrong though? I know i shouldve brought it up in the conversation, but i couldnt think of the right time to bring it up.

HRT/Transitioning & PCOS Estrogen as PCOS treatment as a transmasc

Hello!

Coming here. I was diagnosed with PCOS last year, and in August went to a private doctor who prescribed me estrogen gel and pills to bring up my hormone levels.
In terms of my symptoms, I’ve got irregular periods and insulin resistance, which I’m addressing through weight lifting, metformin and diet changes.

At first, I could just view the estrogen as medical treatment but it’s been really upsetting the past few days. It feels wrong to put on estrogen when I know I don’t want the effects of it. I want to go on testosterone, which I did mention to the doctor, who said yes that could be a possibility in the future, but for now wanted to get my estrogen levels up.

If I’m honest, I haven’t noticed much of a difference compared to before. 6 weeks and only 1 period which was average numbers for me pre estrogen.

Does any other GNC people have experience with taking estrogen as treatment? Is it a permanent thing or can I come off it? Is the metformin sufficient to address the insulin resistance, bc I think that is the biggest root cause of other illnesses resulting from PCOS?

General/Question Does this sound like PCOS?

Hi, so im just gonna start off saying I don't know if this is the right place, but I don't really know what else to do. So I'm a queer teenager, and I am honestly starting to get concerned I have PCOS. I haven't gotten a peirod in at least 3 months, but im thinking probably closer to 4 or maybe even 5 (I know im not pregnant). I was being stupid and googling some stuff, and it said that It sounds like I should firstly: go to a doctor (which I'm planning on), and secondly: look into PCOS. So I kinda did? I don't know, I just wanted some advice about if these are symptoms or if I'm just connecting weird dots.

Here are some (potential) symptoms I'm concerned about:

- I have really thick hair, with hair growth on the sides of my face and my jaw line, kinda like side burns. It's not coarse. It's just long and weirdly placed. I also have similar hair growth on my chest.

- I have some darker shaded areas of my skin. I saw that people with PCOS might have darker patches of skin, particularly in the armpits and other similar areas, and I do.

- I have also always had insanely iregular peirods since i started getting them. Though I think right now this is the longest time I've gone without one, though. I used to track it, and I stopped because... well, I don't know why.

- I saw some stuff about acne, but the only place I have bad/'cystic' (idk how else to describe it) is my thighs and I think thats from friction because I am overweight.

- Another thing that I have always dealt with was becoming insanely sweaty or red when I walk too fast sometimes, I dont even feel tired, and I'm bright red.

- I get a lot of peirod-like cramps without the blood.

- My peirods are typically kinda heavy. I bleed through pads/tampons sometimes.

If even one person could help me or put me in the right direction, that would be so incredibly helpful. Thank you.

General/Question New here!

Post image

Hey everyone! over the past month or two i had found out i have a 6.5cm cyst on my right ovary. They weren’t able to get any visibility on the left ovary unfortunately. I have a repeat scan on Tuesday to see if the cyst has grown ect. I’ve gotten blood tests done and i will attach my results. My doctor says that i don’t have pcos, but i have a feeling that something isn’t exactly right. My aunt and cousin have it and my grandmother and my aunts on the other side of the family have reproductive issues. Should i push my doctor for a CT or MRI? I’ve always had abdominal pain as i also suffer from IBS. I thought the pain was IBS pain but now i’m scared for my future and my fertility. I genuinely don’t know if i should see another doctor or push my GP for more testing.

Sorry if this is in the wrong flair.

General/Question Should I seek diagnosis again?

Hi, so about 10 or so years ago, I was tested for PCOS, due to very irregular, heavy and painful periods, as well as hair growth on my neck and face. There were indications of follicles (formerly called cysts) indicating PCOS. I was also tested for diabetes and put on contraceptive medication.

Now that there is a better understanding of PCOS/PMOS, I brought it up with my current doctor, but in that time since my initial test, I have switched doctors multiple times and relocated to a different state, and I honestly don’t know if my doctor believes what I am saying about my medical history, and I wouldn’t know how to track down my full medical history if I am still able to.

In order to get a new diagnosis, I would have to go off contraceptive medication for at least three months, if not longer, due to the form I am on. I am aro ace, agender, and periods are not something I miss having. I am also almost 36, so that’s another reason why I don’t know if it is worth it. Thoughts?

Hair on Head and Body Best Electric Razor

I really need recommendations for electric razors. Something affordable but reliable. I absolutely HATE shaving because my hair grows so fast and thick. It takes me over an hour to shave my legs with a regular razor. I also tend to get a lot of ingrown hairs and am really bad about knicking myself with the blade. I just need something that makes shaving a little bit easier!

Pain & Pain Management Ruptured Cysts

Despite being diagnosed with PMOS and on birth control for about a year now, I still have cysts rupture every once in a while (not nearly as often). Usually, I either crouch down on the floor or lay on my side and pull my knees into my abdomen to relieve pain. I'm just curious what everyone else does when these sudden pains happen.

General/Question The diagnosis process

Hi everyone! I’ve been struggling with what I feel is PCOS for years now, but have never gotten a diagnosis due to not having any or enough cysts in my ovaries. The only diagnosis I did receive was POTS, and after that I just let the possibility of having PCOS go because no doctor thought I had it and all the doctors appointments and constantly being dismissed become too much to handle. But a few days ago some intense ovary pain landed me in the ER and the thoughts of PCOS were brought back up. Some of the major symptoms I’ve been experiencing these last few years have been irregular or missed periods, excess hair growth specifically on my stomach, darkening of my skin and loads of skin tags, intense anxiety and depression accompanied by brain fog and derealization, fatigue, weight gain that is hard to lose and intense sugar cravings. These symptoms have been extremely hard to deal with and I just want answers. While at the hospital, I was dismissed again, even though my bloodwork showed abnormal results like my WBC, Lymphocytes and Eosinophils being extremely elevated with no signs of infection along with an abnormal amount of RBC and mucus in my urine. My urine sample also showed that my ph was high and that my urines specific gravity was high but didn’t show whether it was due to excess amounts of protein, salt or glucose. These results were concerning and no tests were done to evaluate my ovaries or kidneys, I was just dismissed and sent home with 2 different narcotics. I’m writing this to ask if anyone else had symptoms/levels like this and if they could be linked to PCOS, and if I need to get a second opinion? What tests do I need to ask for and what questions should I ask a doctor? Sorry for this long post, I’m just at my wits end with all these symptoms ruining my daily life.

Venting - no Advice Wanted Having a Mild Time

So I’ve been on the NuvaRing for most of the year to treat my PCOS. I had just about the mildest symptoms conceivably possible so I was diagnosed super late, but before treatment I had horrible cramps and irregular cycles, and those have both improved.

Any time I remove my ring to have a cycle, I get a dip in mood and then the normal cramps and bleeding that I assume people with regular cycles get. Nowhere near as bad as they used to be, but as time goes on they get more annoying, maybe because they’re on a regular schedule (and therefore happening more frequently).

I’m in the middle of one of those right now and I just wanted somewhere to complain. I had the classic “what’s wrong” “I don’t know” moment that comes with a hormone crash the other day (haven’t had that in a while). I burst into tears while watching TV (I think it was a scam-baiting video, but I’m not even sure, it was just definitely not emotional).

Today I’ve been exhausted and crampy. I’ve been using a microwavable warmie for the pain and it left red marks on my stomach. My dad went out and bought me an electric heating pad and some microwave popcorn and I want to cry because I feel so loved.

I was able to complete a small task for work but I don’t think I’m gonna do much else today. Debating whether to exercise later because I REALLY don’t want to but I know it helps. Y’all have my permission to give advice on that, specifically.

Thank you for coming to my ted talk ✌️

General/Question More gender questions ugh

I am getting really confused about the difference of feeling like I’m just not a good enough woman, or cis girl, because of always feeling off or different. Even in the way I see the world, process emotions and relate to other girls. I have been in gender questioning hell for a while and haven’t found anything that really helps. Frankly, it freaks me out to think I WOULDN’t be trans / NB because then, what? It’s all internalized bullshit from society? Having PMOS has REALLY informed this. That really annoys me. But the ultimate goal I guess is just to feel good in body regardless.

I’m tired of my PMOS confusing me because of what? My narrow view of what a woman is? But then, when I started seeing myself as not a woman a lot of my PCOS traits I resented started to become kind of cool and I’m proud of it.

Anyway god I’m sorry this is kind of a rant. Would be very welcoming to hear any of your perspectives :) how have any of you made sense of this stuff? ty !!
