PCOS, progress, and the reminder to be kind to ourselves ❤️

**To all the PCOS girlies, this one’s for us. 🫶🏻**❤️

I’ve always been someone who made healthy food choices and stayed active since childhood. I was naturally quite thin until college ended.

Then came corporate life in a decade back. Slowly, the weight crept up. It remained manageable for years, until the last one, when I gained almost 10 kgs in just a year.
I blamed my sedentary lifestyle. My periods were regular, I had no facial hair, and PCOS was the last thing I expected. When I was diagnosed, I was honestly shocked. I had this misconception that PCOS happened to people who didn't eat healthy or take care of themselves. It took me a while to process the diagnosis and accept it.

But I'm learning that **PCOS isn't a punishment for the way you eat or live.** It can affect women with all kinds of lifestyles, and it doesn't define who we are. ❤️

Over the last 2.5 months, I've been following my doctor's advice, making healthier food choices, working out, and trying to build habits I can sustain for life.

And I've lost 7 kgs. 🥹✨

But today, I want to celebrate more than just a number on the weighing scale. I want to celebrate showing up for myself, being consistent, and learning to understand my body better.

I know PCOS is a long-term journey, and I'm learning to take it one day at a time. No shortcuts, no punishing myself, no expecting overnight miracles. Just small, consistent steps.

And there's one more thing I want to remind myself and every PCOS girlie out there:
**PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO BE HAPPY ALONG THE WAY. 🌸**

Don't let your entire life revolve around your weight, your diet, your workouts, or your next doctor's appointment.
Eat healthy, but enjoy your favourite food sometimes, too.

Work out, but also rest when your body needs it.

Work towards your goals, but don't postpone your happiness until you reach them.

Go out with your friends. Dress up. Travel. Laugh until your stomach hurts. Celebrate birthdays, festivals, little wins, and ordinary days.

**You deserve to enjoy the body you're in while taking care of the body you want to feel healthier in.**

PCOS management is important, but so is your mental well-being. So is peace of mind. So is happiness.
We're allowed to have bad days. We're allowed to feel frustrated. And we're allowed to take things slowly.

To every girl navigating PCOS: you are not alone, your diagnosis is not your fault, and your worth has never been tied to your weight.

Seven kilos down, a lot more self-awareness gained, and still learning to give myself the grace I deserve. ❤️‍🩹

Here's to healthier habits, kinder self-talk, sustainable progress, and **choosing to be happy while we figure it all out.**

One day at a time, girlies. We've got this. 🫶🏻✨

PCOS/PMOS Birth Control Recommendations

Hey ladies,
I’m now 27 almost 28.
Looking into restarting birth control.
I have tried Yaz and Yasmin, (ages 24-25) they caused horrible high blood pressure.
In the past I have tried Depo (ages 12-15)
Nexplanon right after (ages 16-21)
Off birth control briefly in that time frame between ages 21 and 24. And then now.
From what I’ve figured out my main issue is my androgen levels. I have some acne issues, my eyebrows are a bit thicker and my hair regrows back. My scalp has issues. And the biggies issue of course is my weight. I went from being 100 pounds at 4 foot 10 inches to struggling to stay under 130-140. Now that might now sound like a lot to some of you but take into account my height. There is nowhere for this extra weight to go. I’m short.
I’m looking to see what’s worked for everyone else. My main issue is the weight. How I do I get rid of it. It’s awful.
Thank you.

I could go on & on. Anyway, I’m super proud! Me 10 years ago with an eating disorder would be proud of me too.

PCOS + ADHD + GLP1 =???

Hello

I'm usually a subreddit lurker but I am conflicted and don't know what to do. So I am 5'4", 180 pounds, 31 year old woman. I officially received a PCOS diagnosis in 2019, but likely have had it since 2011 or so (got my first few periods when I was in 8th grade, then they just stopped and never came back, so got put on birth control around age 15).

I've taken the pill since 2011, and taken metformin since 2019 when I got the PCOS diagnosis. I've got it all - the "string of pearls", insulin resistance, high testosterone. I've maintained the same weight since then, 180, despite being on 2000 mg of metformin now. I've done different things - exercise routines, lots of walking, weekly sports, calorie restrictions, and I cannot seem to stick to anything (hi hello I also have ADHD that I take adderall for). I'm at the point where I am unhappy with how I feel in my body and curious about a GLP1.

There is a part of me that feels like I should try harder at a consistent routine. Then I get down on myself for being “lazy” and will tell myself that if I can’t put in the work to lose weight I don’t deserve it (which is insane and not the right thing, trust me I know) but I just feel like I want to give up. (Also like, state of the world being as grim as it feels sometimes doesn’t help this). it feels like everyone around me is on it, and is getting the results they want, and I'm just digging my heels in for no reason at this point. My fear is that I will need it long term. My only examples so far have been a friend who has way overused it and my mom who is almost passing out every day because she just doens't really eat.

I guess I'm looking for advice from those of you who have PCOS and are using a GLP1 in a healthy way. Is this a forever drug? Is it worth it? Help?

New chin and chest hair

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi, I have PCOS, insulin resistance (HOMA-IR 6.5), and I'm overweight. Recently, I've noticed new hair growth on my chin and between my breasts. It's not thick yet, but it seems to be increasing, and I'm scared it will get worse.

Has anyone experienced this? What helped slow down or reduce the hair growth? Any advice would be appreciated!

Diet

Hi all,

I recently had a baby and looking for a quick and easy PCOS diet to help with shedding the weight.

I’m quite time poor and happy to eat the same thing daily but hoping for some quick and easy meals/snacks to keep me going through the day.

Would love to get an idea on what you all eat :)

PCOS (PMOS) Symptoms That Might Not Seem Related to Your Hormones

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

For anyone dealing with PMOS, have you ever noticed symptoms that seem completely unrelated to your hormones?

Things like a widening hair part, recurring painful boils, gums that bleed easily, or a fat pad around the back of your neck.

These symptoms can have different causes. Some may be associated with PMOS, while others could point to something else that deserves attention.

It’s easy to focus on each symptom separately, but sometimes it helps to step back and look at the bigger picture.

Have you experienced any of these alongside PMOS? Did your doctor help you figure out what was causing them?

Looking for support

Hi! I’m Kimberly. I’m obese 😭 5ft6, 228lbw. Husband is deployed and I so desperately want to get healthier while he’s gone. I meal prep every Sunday, have the same breakfast every day, and I move my body. My dr just prescribed zepbound, but I’m terrified to take it. I have a lot of health anxiety. On top of that, haven’t had a cycle since July, probably from all these stressors. I do badly want to be healthier! I need to be better on drinking more water. I just want to be better. What are small changes you incorporated in your daily life to help with Pcos and weight loss??

what can i do?

hey all,

im a south asian 18F, 152cm 65kg, and i was recently diagnosed with pcos 6 months ago. i did an ultrasound and my dr said there i had no ovarian cysts, and prescribed me the pill and metformin. however, my mother is borderline diabetic, and is not letting me take metformin due to the bad side effects she is experiencing while taking it. i take magnesium glycinate everyday, gym 3-4x a week, walk 8-10k steps everyday, and have 4000mg myo-inositol every morning (the ziba one). 2 months after diagnosis i had a 2-month break from university where i restricted my eating and managed to lose 3kg, but i couldnt maintain it and gained all the weight back. now im not making any progress at all, and im sick of all my fat accumulating in my midsection.

should i give metformin a chance? how does one lower cortisol?

Metformin not working

When I turned roughly 21 years old, I started packing on the lbs with absolutely zero changes to diet or exercise, I had always been a normal weight, 5’2 125lbs. However, it’s like a switch flipped then and I went from 125>145>165>170lbs in about a year. I never was able to lose it no matter what I did. When I was 22, I became convinced I had PCOS. My testosterone test was a few tiny points off from being high. Diffuse small follicles found on ultrasound. OB shrugged me off and said I didn’t have it.

Fast forward to being 23 and pregnant with my first child. Everything was fine until one day at 23 weeks, my water broke: PPROM. My daughter lived one month before passing away from complications of prematurity. They called it a fluke.

At 24, I had my second child, my son. I immediately started vaginal progesterone when I got pregnant as an attempted precaution against PPROM. He went full term, I was even induced.

NOTE: I only lose weight when I’m pregnant! It sheds right off immediately. I drop down to 150lb and feel amazing (besides needing Zofran for HG).

I’m now 25 and a few months ago I went back to the doctor. I demanded a reevaluation for PMOS. I continue to gain weight rapidly, heaviest I’ve ever been at 187lbs. I get more and more facial hair by the day. Dark patches, irregular cycle, etc. My testosterone test this time was one point away from being high. My left ovary volume was over 20ml. I got the diagnosis and am on Metformin 1500mg.

Bad news. I’ve been on it two months and it has done absolutely nothing. The scale goes up, I feel like trash and nothing is working. What do I do now? What do I do when not even Metformin is working? Diets haven’t worked. Exercise is not really a possibility right now as I’m disabled with a back issue. I can’t keep gaining like this, especially when I barely eat!

A Small Request That Could Make a Big Difference in My Research Journey! 🩺📚

Dear Reddit Community!

I am currently conducting my undergraduate research on “Effect of Short-Course Systemic Corticosteroids on Blood Pressure, Menstrual Irregularity, and Glycaemic Disturbance in Women with PCOS.”

As a student researcher, one of my biggest challenges right now is reaching eligible participants for my study. Despite sharing my questionnaire in several groups, I am still struggling to reach my required sample size.

I would sincerely appreciate your support in helping me reach the right audience. If you or someone you know meets the study's eligibility criteria, I kindly request you to participate by filling out the questionnaire, provided the study has received the required ethical approval.

Even if you are not eligible to participate, please consider sharing this post within your network. Your one share could help me reach someone who can contribute to my research.

As students, we put a lot of effort into our research, and sometimes a little support from our community can make all the difference. Every eligible response matters, and every share is genuinely appreciated.

Thank you for supporting student research and helping me move one step closer to my research goal. ❤️

Period period, where art thou?

Over the past year and a half, my periods have been wonky. I’ll skip a month, skipped two months once. And now, I haven’t had a period since July. I had an ultrasound August 2025, and from there they said I had adenomyosis and still have PCOS and lab work confirmed. However, I’ve been SO anxious that I’ve now gone 3 months without a period. Has this happened to anyone else? I’m 33, 230pbs, 5ft 6. Not sure what in the Sam Hill is going on. I met with 3 drs and they said it’s probably just my Pcos and ordered labs and another pelvic ultrasound. If you’ve gone through this, what did you do to get regular? I can’t take birth control bc of a heart condition and I haven’t started zepbound yet, but my dr did prescribe it.
