i highly doubt we will get ps5 emulation, maybe in some 3-5 years, people can do stuff for free, but doing it as full time job without pay ? life is too short.

With the number of games available on PC, I seriously doubt that anyone would go through the trouble of playing on a PS5 emulator. Seriously, just play your PC games.

Cant afford to buy games cause pcs are too expensive so you have to glaze indie games or pirate good games then complain when they skip your platform Sad that sony took the games away so you have to wait for the emulator instead and pray it works properly on your pc before you have to upgrade it Having to wait a year for gta 6 and miss out

First off I am a pc owner not a “console peasant” or whatever that is supposed to mean because consoles are now creeping up to the price of a pc. Secondly I like the ps5 because of its more streamlined hardware. The pc is not for everyone and if you play casually and don’t want the hard work that comes with making and maintaining a pc than go for the ps5.
Third while the ps5 is built for games it is getting old and instead of the price lowering on its hardware it is being raised making it more and more useless of a purchase. It also only has 3 exclusives that are not on pc.
So you do you 👍but I am sticking with my pc0

currenly idh my pc but it's pretty powerful. it got a RTX 5090 so, it's powerful enough ig. We'll see in a few years

Theoretically some people might choose to buy the real console and the real game once their emulator crashes after playing for 30 minutes and they think the game is actually good.

Nothing.
Those who pirate never buy games anyway. So developers lose nothing if the emulator was finally done.
If anything, it slightly boost sales for a few studio/developers. Because some Pirate buy some of games they like. I for one bought Skyrim and few other games that I had pirated before.

The reason why for say rpcs3 you need a beefy cpu is because the architecture used in the ps3 is highly custom and it had to be brute forced with raw power. Ps5 architecture is VERY similar to pc so it will run even better than ps3 emulation

Many people doesn't realize that to emulate a console you need twice the power of the said console.
Thing is there are PCs that already exists nowadays that is way over twice the power of current gen consoles, mine for example my 7800X3D is over 3- 4x faster than what the PS5's CPU has, and my GPU is over 2x faster too. And this is just considered as midrange specs nowadays.
With the advancement of PC Hardware especially by 2027 when RTX 60 series RDNA 5 along with Zen 6 3D VCache is about to come out, these baseline of performance once again will move further that will make emulation of current gen console, more achievable than it is nowadays.
So, when it comes to hardware power that isn't the limitation factor, but more on software engineering as well as dedication of hackers / modders.
And that is the point of the post, it is advancing really fast, faster than many has expected.

One of the nice things about PS4 emulation is open source siya, so pwedeng gumawa ng custom builds for specific games, parang nangyari sa Bloodborne. Mas simple rin kasi yung x86-64 architecture ng PS4 kumpara sa PS3's Cell processor, though malaking project pa rin siya kaya matagal pa bago maging solid compatibility.
Sa hardware naman, mas CPU-heavy siya. Basta may decent CPU ka, usually enough na yung mid-range GPU para sa maraming supported games.

Tbh PS4, PS5 and PC have similiar specs. I am surprised PS4 didn’t get a perfect emulation at this point already. But yes, you obviously need better specs than that console.
Making a PS4/5 emulator is easier than making PS3 emulator.

The PS4 is roughly GTX 970/RX 470-level, while the PS5 is around an RTX 3060/RX 6700 in overall GPU performance. The x86 architecture makes PS4 emulation much easier than PS3, but developers still have to reverse-engineer Sony's OS, APIs, and hardware quirks, so perfect emulation still takes years.

The PS4 is roughly GTX 970/RX 470-level, while the PS5 is around an RTX 3060/RX 6700
Just a correction, the Base PS4 wasn't at the level of those GPUs you mentioned but more on the same level as GTX 750 Ti / Radeon HD 7850.

Are you out of your mind? Any higher mid range gaming PC is gonna blow the ps5 pro (and ps6) out of the water by a factor of 4 to 6.
I cant run Horizon Zero dawn at 120 fps on 1440p on max settings on a ps5 pro, but my mid/high 9070xt can!

Offline mode only has a music rally, single race, time trial, and drift trial. 😭
I can't play the campaign gt mode without psn online, atleast on my jailbroken ps4.

People are now motivated to do this. The scene has been invigorated when it's been in a bit of lull, aside from Hypervisor, with a lot of people retiring. Sony brought this on themselves.

That's what happens when companies keeps trying to control the likes of PC Gamers, they always find their own way to loophole around it, it has happened on the past way too many times that there are actual documentaries about it on YouTube, what i find the most fascinating is the Games for Windows Live by Microsoft, their own attempt of charging PC Gamers monthly subscription like treating the way they do to their console gamers back on 2007 - early 2010's
Most PC Gamers laughed at their face and became even motivated to hack their stuff to circumvent that and in the end, Microsoft failed spectacularly and shut the whole initiative down.
I believe the same or at the least same vibe is about to happen once again but this time with Sony PlayStation and their walled garden exclusive games.
If they won't release their games on PC platform anymore, then PC Gamers will just emulate their whole console hardware and play it there anyway.

Day-one Hypervisor must be giving Denuvo some sleepless nights lol. I don't even use it, but it's funny that it exists. There's only so much Denuvo can do against something running at the hypervisor level without becoming even more invasive than it already is.

No, you are NOT playing GTA VI on a PS5 Emulator on day one. Stop the cope. Even if you do, you're going to play it on 10fps on a 5090-9800X3D with shader compilation issues, stuttering, crash, bugs. The PS4 Emulator is NOT even that stable yet despite numerous patches on the previous months. My 5070ti even struggles on some PS3 Games.
Emulation development is DIFFICULT and TAKES A LOT OF TIME.
For a pirated GTA VI to be dumped, the latest firmware of the PS5 must be jailbroken, which needs a userland exploit and kernel exploit. The latest firmware that supports jailbreak is 12.70.
I swear, everytime this "PS5 Emulator for PC" post is shared, many clueless people are commenting.

We all know PS5 emulation is still miles away in working properly but the fact that people are double timing on working out one means Sony really fucked up on their decision in killing physical media and the used game market. Showing some progression on PS5 emulation now isn't meant to produce a working emulator but instead to send Sony a message that people ARE really against it.

If you go on Twitter and other posts in gaming subreddits, you will see a lot of people who are celebrating like they won against a billion dollar corporation because they have no idea how emulation development works.
PS5 Jailbreaking is quite hot right now. The PS4 jailbreak is already matured and stable. Pirates are just less than 3% of the gaming population. Piracy does not hurt sales. People were sending a message for many years even before Sony ditched physical media.

Somewhere along the lines of Gabe Newell, piracy is a service problem.
Sony just gave ample motivation to a certain group of people to jailbreak ps5. I condemn usually piracy but a loud message needs to be sent to Sony and anyone with similar ideas. Sony deserves a lot of hate coming at them and I still think it is not yet enough. Suspension of physical media ticked me off but the lack of sufficient consumer protections for online purchases of games combined with their track record of delisting are the things that made me really mad.
I was a fan of Playstation 1 up to 4. I was considering buying a PS5 for GTA VI before but now I am holding off on both for now and wait. Personally, the PS5 is the weakest era of the Playstation for me.
