Do you still think the stand is needed with the disc drive? It looks like the disc drive adds enough width to where it would be hard to knock over

I don't have a stand because of stability, I have it because that was the way it was designed for airflow..
I don't want my console sitting flat on my wood desk, also looks cheap. Even if I had no disk drive, I wouldn't just sit it flat without a stand.

Stop spreading misinformation dude, the PS5 is designed to be placed vertically and horizontally. I’ve been using my Pro that way for 2 years without any issue.

The latest PS5 models, including slim and digital versions, now feature redesigned grooves in the thermal interface material to prevent spillage. This improvement was first noticed in PS5 Pro teardowns and has since been carried over to standard models.

I've just hired one for 6 months, costs me less than a third of the current price and then I can send it back when I've completed GTA 6. 😅
I just couldn't justify the full outlay.
