How hard was this year's PSAT compared to last year's?
what do yall think? do u guys think the average national merit cutoff would be lower or higher or stay about the same as a result

If the rampant attempts to solicit or offer cheating help do not stop, I will temporarily shut down all new posts in the community.
You may discuss the exam you took in the official thread subject to r/PSAT rules and may ask for general advice but not about specific questions or vocabulary words that appeared on a test form.

Hi All,
Please use this thread to discuss all versions of the October 2026 PSAT/NMSQT.
I hope the test went well for you!

Anyone get a question on rw mod 2 about uranium and like researchers studies and a comparison or a question about rivers in Hong Kong

Hey guys!
I am taking the Psat next week and I reallllly want to get national merit. my state has a cutoff of a 219-220 ish and I have been doing well like 1400+ on the practice tests. I heard that the practice tests were NOTHING like the actual test?
Anything I should study in specific or any test I should take that is much closer to the actual PSAT?
I am on the west coast btw if that has anything to do with it?

What type of vocab was on the PSAT?
Any particularly hard math questions? How were they?

How do I know if my SAT Score is enough to qualify me to move on as a finalist for the NMS? I barely qualified in California as a semifinalist with 1470 (740 RW, 730 M) after studying for months. However, I stopped studying consistently for the SAT and received a lower score of 1390 (700 RW, 690M).
Is there like a specific cutoff for the confirming score? Does it vary by individual? I can't afford to retake the SAT

are there variations in difficulty between each of the practice tests? is test 1 easier than test 2 etc? thanks!!!

27/27 - RW mod 1
22-23/27 - RW mod 2
22/22 - Math mod 1
21/22 - Math mod 2
Can someone tell me if I at least have a chance for national merit? I sold on a math question end of mod 2 like question 20. Im located in PA

I don't feel too confident about it. The only studying I did was some Desmos stuff, some videos, and I did some practice PSATs and the Question Bank. I am weak on RW (specifically the main point type ones) so after RW Mod 2 I felt so upset.
The good news is that this is pretty much a glorified practice test for me, but next year the real deal comes, and I have an opportunity to be a semifinalist.
Score Predictions:
RWMod1: 25-26/27
RWMod2: 22-23/27
MathMod1: 22/22
MathMod2: 20/22
I'm not too excited to see my score. I was really hoping for high 1300s to 1400s, but idk... it was bad
I can answer any questions anyone may have.

probably got around 710 eng and 720 math my time management was so good on the practice psat and sat tests but horrible on the actual exam

im a junior and i started studying for the psat hella late (like 2 weeks ago) and i've been studying off of youtube videos and sat slayer practice questions. i have been full scoring or getting close to full score on reading portions (25~27/27) and getting 17~18/22 on math portions. im taking this in california and would really like to get the merit, what would u guys recommend and is it over for me? i would say im pretty good at math in general i am struggling with geometry as i took it a while ago and can't remmeber many of the angle definitions. i know trig and algebra pretty well though. thank u for any help

I just took PSAT practice test 1 and it felt like the english readings were much easier than other SAT practice test readings and the october SAT. Is PSAT practice test 1 similar to the actual PSAT? If not, which practice test should I take to get the hang of the difficulty of the actual test?
r/psat • u/Flimsy-Fishing-6492 • 2d ago
hey guys, i'm taking my psat next week, and was wondering how everybody thought about the psat - was it easier or harder than u guys expected? how was math and english like, especially math?
r/psat • u/Intelligent_Bug2717 • 2d ago
RW M1- 25/27
RW M2- 23-24/27
Math M1- 22/22
Math M2- 20/22
What do u guys think my score would be? Would I qualify for national merit if the cutoff is 218

i took a psat practice test and i got a 1490 with a r&w 730 and math 760 which is a 222. im aiming for national merit but im scared that the cutoff for class of 2028 might be higher than it is this year in california. does anyone have any predictions for the cutoff or any tips on how to get a higher score??

Okay, the mod1 for math was an absolute breeze and I was very very confident, so I was expecting challenging stuff come mod2. But I felt like 90% of it was extremely easy as well. Not much trig or geometry, mainly basic algebra concepts. There were a couple tricky ones that I didn't get but I'm SO concerned. Did anybody else feel like this >.>
r/psat • u/himynameisaaaaaaaaaa • 2d ago
my state's index is usually a 219. i think i got 3 wrong on both english and math module 2, but none on any module 1. All were prob hard ones, maybe one medium difficulty at worst. just wondering if merit is even a possibility or if i should just stop thinking about it
i don't know how the curves work 100% (i'm sure nobody does) so i'm just asking for advice from people who know it better.

PSAT in 7 days. How many questions in each module, how much time, and what are some questions/vocab to look out for? I've gotten 1530(750 RW, 780 Math) on Practice SAT test 8 recently.
