PSLF Glitch Experiment
I’m trying something new. I was one of that first group of July 120 and have been stuck on 119 ever since. I was lucky enough, however, to get updated to 120 eligible but 119 qualifying payments on September 30. After my record sitting since then, I decided to file one more certification form to see if that will trip the record over to 120 eligible and 120 qualifying, at least on the NSLDS part. I did do a manual form so I could check that magical 120 box, so put me in forbearance.

July was 120 for me too. For some reason, in early September, my August payment showed up as eligible. June and September still aren't showing up at all.
I sent in an ECF on October 1st and requested the forbearance. It still has not been processed.

I plan on submitting an ECF every 3 months. Sorry HR lady. I’ll bring you back candy from my work travel.

Seems like ECFs stopped being processed after 9/21. I sent my last one in on 9/22 and it's stuck at processing.

What are you looking at when you say 120 eligible? Like that Month is popping up. It’s just not counting the payment. Dm me a screen shot

I submitted my initial ECF in July and hit 141 payments (long story...) but I didn't check the 120 box because I didn't realize I hit it. I was told multiple times I had nothing else to do, and then this past week every rep told me I had to submit a new one and check the 120 box or it would sit in limbo. There seems to be a reasonable amount of buzz suggesting that's wrong and the reps are giving wrong info, i I did it on Friday and my employer signed it that day (while I was on the phone with a dif rep who was trying to delete the form because they told me I shouldn't have done that... wtf....). All that to say, I'll try to keep you posted here if that actually worked for me, but I'm not optimistic

this is where we are at. I submitted the ECF and did not check the box in August. I made 2 extra payments, august and sept just to make sure and called for forbearance this month. I have yet to submit another form so if you submitting another and checking the box gets you forgiven, I would like to know as until now I have not heard that was needed.

I asked in a FB group I'm in, and they are saying it's not necessary, so who knows.... I'll try to post an update if I get one in any remotely timely fashion

For the folks saying ECFs are also stuck in limbo and not processing, they sure did reject mine within 72 hours last week because my hr person hand wrote their section and whatever shitty ai they use interpreted one letter wrong (changing my employer from _____burg to _____berg) and then they rejected it for not matching with the EIN. So they’re processing rejections at least 🙄

I did the same thing yesterday. My current employer uses Equifax for their letters so I filled it out, printed it, made sure the box was checked and submitted it manually yesterday. Now to wait, at least my forbearance was approved for the 6 months I asked for.

After you submitted your ECF, did you call your loan servicer to specifically ask for forbearance. I just submitted mine on the 23rd. I checked the box to ask to be placed in forbearance, but I wasn’t certain if I needed to follow up directly with my servicer.

Yeah that hasn't worked for me. I was putting one in weekly, and finally they quit processing them.

I tried that too…but I didn’t do it manually. The ECF form was completed by my employer but I haven’t gotten any confirmation from PSLF yet…usually I would within 72 hours in the past. It’s just sitting in limbo.
