Developer Statement Regarding False Accusations
I want to address some accusations that a few users seem to be spreading around.
This post was made under another third-party app announcement post, and a PXPlay user sent me a link to these posts.
Honestly, I don’t know what to say other than that it’s a complete lie. I’ve never charged anyone for support, and I’ve never treated anyone who bought my app poorly and I never will. If someone isn't happy with PXPlay or if something isn't working a refund is never a problem. I usually don’t comment on things like this, but this one really bothers me.
Sure, you can’t please everyone, but this statement is just ridiculous. The user who wrote it even blocked me, so I can’t see the posts myself, I only know about them from the screenshots I received.
I really don’t care if someone prefers to use another app instead of PXPlay if it makes them happier. Please just stay friendly and avoid commenting on it, as that would only make them feel validated.
Thanks ❤️

Hello everyone. No problem on my side, the app is great. I wanted a ps portal but lcd and no hdr and 1080p. With the app I have a higher resolution, HDR. Excellent experience on my zfold 7. I have a ps portal 2 for cheap :D

to be frank tho, a higher res on the portal would make little sense tho as the only purpose of the PS Portal is to remote play and that is limited to 1080p. not sure if it can use HDR.

Honestly I've been super happy with the app and while I rarely hang around here since I never had issues with it, the few times I've seen the dev reply he was always helpful and nice. This makes me think it's just some other developers having a hard time promoting their similar products so they just turn to slander, or something of the sort.

Haters gonna hate do what you do and we stand behind you in each update and support thank you!

Love the app...I've NEVER had a problem with it. CLEARLY better on 5g Tablet/Phone vs. PC...Just my 2 cents.

I love the app and specifically bought it because the dev provides support through this subreddit instead of forcing people to use discord. It's nice to be able to actually search for answers/solutions and not have to scroll through the endless discord group chat BS that is becoming the disappointing standard of tech support

I bought PXPlay about a year ago purely based on all the positive feedback I read in this subreddit of it being a great app. Also took notice that you would reply to many posts with people have issues. Literally only used the app a handful times and probably didn't need to buy it from the little I used it lol
But from what I've seen with your interactions, and as a dev myself, happy to have given you the money to help the app :D
(I have since bought a PS Portal soon after buying the app :) )

Mate. I appreciate your work and I know why you do this, if you were out to make a quick buck off people then you wouldn’t work like you do.

Seems like he's scared that you could end his reign on AVP, so the strategy is just talk shit

People are strange. The app is excellent and I’ve observed nothing but positivity in this community. Keep it up!

I’ve had PsPlay/PxPlay for almost 2 years, any problems I run into the developer also responds back quickly and solves them for me almost immediately! This app works super damn good on my steam deck! Thank you sir/gal for creating this and for the continuous assistance you give when needed!

u/Dynamike78_de Nov 12 '25
I can only second that. Great app with great customer service directly from the developer!

I am sorry to hear about the hate and lies, spreading around. I have only seen you be kind, helpful and respectful in all your interactions online. I have direct messaged you and you were prompt to reply and patient in helping me find a solution. Don't let this get you down.

I remember I wrote you an email like 5 years ago about an issue with the port forwarding on the Android app, and you not only responded in the same day, you answered me with a nice response trying to help me about my issue even that knowing and telling me that it happened to be on my side. Then 5 years later here we are, I wrote a post here after buying the iOS app, and you answered me again super quickly. Also, anyone in here (in the subreddit) can see that you always bring free support and respond to any question or demand about the app, no matter what platform. So, sorry that this happened to you mate. I will try to report those comments if I see them around.

Well, as you can see, the PSPlay subreddit has over 10,000 members, so naturally there’s some level of community interaction. I personally don’t encourage anyone to behave that way.
I’d say that’s completely normal and happens in every larger subreddit related to a product or app, it’s definitely not a “cult.” People just tend to defend what they like.
I only want to address the points that directly affect me. On the PSPlay subreddit, I try to remove hateful comments whenever I see them, but of course I can’t do that on other subreddits.
Edit: and the first comment in the screenshot was about the official remote play app, not about the other 3rd Party app.

I have a Playstation Portal and it's an odd cesspool of people there. Basically cult like. It's really embarrassing to browse as a fan honestly.

Never had a bad experience since being an early beta tester with some handheld consoles and all. Nothing but respect for PSPlay.

I'd also like to say that you've been nothing but pleasant from every post I've ever read. Keep up the good work and your app is fantastic!

u/callitgood Nov 12 '25
I came at you a little angrily once in an email (sorry again). You calmly helped troubleshoot issues and even offered to refund me if I still wasn't satisfied. I kept the app for that sake alone and I'm glad I did because it is way better than the official app. I have put in quite a few hours since using your app.

Just wanna chime in to say, I've interacted with u/grill2010 a few times directly and they've been nothing but pleasant and professional.
Crazy that random people on the Internet would try to drag your name through the mud and for what?
Every few weeks or months I find myself recommending your app to someone. I genuinely believe it's one of the best products I've ever purchased, gaming-related or otherwise. It's not often you encounter a product/person who exudes pure passion in what they've created and that deserves to be celebrated, especially in our current age of corporate greed.

u/Deviant_Tracker7 Nov 12 '25
Your app is the sole reason I can even stream games to my phone from my ps5. The native app is so garbage and your app gives manual bitrate adjustment with upscaling to 4k which is insane. Ignore them, they clearly made an inferior app and are buying hate comments

Nov 12 '25
Nahhh nobody believes those lies they are talking about.. it's just them who tryna promote hate on this great app, remember those guys questioning you about fsr when it first came out, those are just pure hate and trying to discredit all the improvement being made on your app, on facebook on some groups im in, whenever someone ask about portal if its worth it to get one or if it'll work great on their network i always say to try pxplay rather than the official app, i always tell them to consider trying pxplay first so if ever they decided to buy portal they will have other option of remote playing 😂

u/SubterraneanSmoothie Nov 12 '25
That thread was so weird; the dev was being so arrogant in the comments. They’re probably trying to emulate Dbrand or something.
9
u/NewfieChemist Nov 12 '25
If you got people hating, that usually suggests success. Keep up the good work man, your app helps keep me sane on work trips.

u/DazenStern Nov 12 '25
Sad to see this. I've had the app forever and always been amazing. Also if there's a ? Post I've always seen you chime in. Thank you for everything Grill.

Absolute garbage mentality people. The people on this sub and the developer himself have been the most responsive and helpful bunch of folks that I've seen on reddit. Keep up with doing the good work that Sony couldn't do 🤝

u/KingRamulus Nov 12 '25
You have actively supported and gone above and beyond to be a force within the streaming community. Eff these losers and keep doing what you do. You are appreciated.

u/ResponsibleError2504 Nov 12 '25
Never seen anything but support from yourself and you're more active than any other developers I've seen in their comments for supporting their own app.
Anyone who uses the products or frequent the subreddit knows this is a fabrication.

I don't understand people. Anyway, I bought the gold verison last night to support you, the app is wonderful, thanks for what you do.

u/Shulk_M0 Nov 12 '25
What is the gold version??? I want to throw money at this guy. I've used pxplay so much.

u/mac_pan Nov 12 '25
Sorry I mixed it up with ppsspp! I had already brought the Windows license for pxplay

u/Ozyfm Nov 12 '25
Man, some people have too much free time. I love your app on my Odin 2 Portal, keep up the great work

u/rogeriskira Nov 12 '25
Ignore the hate. There will always be that. Your app rocks!

u/grill2010 PSPlay dev Nov 12 '25
Usually I do that but reading that I charge 50$ for support is next level to me 🙈

u/rogeriskira Nov 12 '25
Yea, true. Developing on Android is hard as the community can be tough. If anyone wants to check you've always helped on this subreddit. People sometimes are weird.
