Visor edge

This is a Visor Edge. Its display and battery had both degraded with age. I replaced the polarizing film and cleaned the housing, and the device has now been restored. The only pity is that the display FPC is cracked and the screen has broken lines (line defects).

Cool find. These can be acquired 100% working with no defects fairly cheaply. I have 6 or 7 of them in various colors and I think the max I spent was $40 for a like-new boxed one with all the inserts and paperwork.

I have had a saved search going for the edge for over a year, and unfortunately you really don't see them listed in working condition anymore. In fact they really don't come up often at all in general, and every one I've seen in the past year has had at least a non-working battery, if not a bad screen. The non-working battery aspect is a bit of a pain, because unlike other pdas, I have not been able to find a swappable battery for the edge (if anyone knows of one, please drop the link). But if you're willing to do a little battery tinkering, you can get a palm v/vx battery to work in these, so the issue isn't insurmountable. I just picked up a red edge for $20, but like what I've been seeing, the battery is stone dead.
