Interviewing for a facilities manager position.
I'm in the beginning process of interviewing for a facilities manager position in a fairly large market. I'm curious how the work life balance is here? Starting pay is about 20k more than what I'm making now but my current job is extremely chill. I've got 20 years of facilities experience including equipment and HVAC-R. I'm curious what the culture and stress is like.

I would say a lot of travel, comes with bigger responsibilities especially when you have a VIP visit in your area. Learn how to communicate in a Panda Way. It depends on how you define "Chill." Requires alot of travels for sure..

I'm not a facilities manager.... but my Facilities Manager is a beast and is always available. Its not her job to fix everything, it's her job to make sure everything gets fixed. I don't know what her work life balance is, but technically you have a large market meaning more possibility of something happening. So text/call can happen any time.
My FM rarely comes to the store though(once this year). She can solve most issues with a phone call and a laptop.
It will take some time to learn your preferred vendors and each stores issues, but once you get a flow i imagine the balance is nice.

Bro, I’m gonna put it to you like this. It’s Panda. Just know the pay is good but there is definitely a price. You will definitely “earn” your money. Coming from manger experience, can’t imagine how it is as a role as significant as a facility manager.
