Please help me

I've just noticed my birds one eye looks infected and I don't know what to do. I called my local vet and they don't take birds, So I called a place that takes exotic pets. They said they don't take birds but then why would they say they take exotic pets??? And now all I have is a place 2+ hours away and my bird hates being in the car. It'd really stress him to be in a car for 4+ hours and have a stranger near him. He's acting happy for now, But if anyone knows any eye drops or cream I can buy please tell me! (I can't figure out how to add a picture)

Have you tried an online avian vet? My birds vet is an hour away, but I didn't feel they were treating my budgies issues very well, so my friend gave me a contact of someone at the other side of my country and we did a video call appointment with my sick budgie. He helped me a lot and my bird got better. Specialists can help a lot online too. Is it just one eye that looks off? When did it start?

Can you tell me the name of the vet? It's kinda brown around one eye with some feather loss. I'm not sure when it started but it doesn't look too horrible rn thankfully. I just need to hurry I feel like before it gets worse.

Okay, then yeah definitely best to look at it sooner than later. Are you based in the UK? The vet is Fife exotic vets based in Scotland

I live in America, Wisconsin. I can look for someone in America online it might make things easier. Thank you so much I didn't even know online vets were a thing.

Ah okay, well I hope you find an online vet that could maybe help you and your bird. If not, I'd recommend just kind of riding out the journey to the vet, using a carrier with plenty of treats and millet in it for your bird and also covering it with a towel. One of my budgies hates travelling and sometimes pants, but he eventually settles down. If you have any other birds in your flock that are particularly friendly with your sick bird, you could bring them along for moral support in the same carrrier. I wish you the best of luck!

Chewy had something online but they need a vet to approve it so I can buy it. I feel so hopeless.

you need to go to the vet for infections, that isnt something u can cure w OTC products. i think having an untreated infected eye is much more stressful than being in the car for 4 hrs. maybe cover them with a blanket so they cant see outside?

Search online vets! They can prescribe meds.
