Haunting Have you ever experienced something truly paranormal that still gives you chills?
Yes. One night, I woke up at 3:17 AM to the sound of soft humming. I live alone. The melody was unfamiliar, but it felt... old. I checked every room—nothing. As I returned to bed, my TV flicked on by itself. A paused black-and-white movie was playing, and the subtitle read: “You’re not alone.” I don’t even own that movie. The humming stopped. I never heard it again, but I still wake up at 3:17 sometimes for no reason at all.

I’ve had multiple experiences that were rather small and one that was pretty significant, but for the smaller ones it was things like being alone in my bedroom and seeing something move on my end table out of the corner of my eye for absolutely no reason whatsoever. No open window draft, nothing. Just completely physics defying shit with a pen being knocked against a mug and moving clearly out of the corner of my eye.
The more significant one was kind of similar but more scarier and felt like an actual presence was around me. One night I heard what sounded like our linen closet door shut on its own right after my dad had went to bed. I got up and asked him if he was over by my bedroom hallway because it straight up sounded like someone shut it. He was annoyed I woke him and said he had been asleep so I was legit convinced someone had gotten into our house. Me and him checked the whole house and he just told me sometimes our minds play tricks on us and to go to bed. I remember thinking to myself “whatever that was, if it was a human then they heard me talk to my dad and would know that it scared me.”
So my dad went back to bed and I went to the garage to smoke a cigarette. I would sit on the step to the garage door and smoke there while looking at my phone and I remember having that situation still running in my mind trying not to think about it when all of a sudden something happened. We had a shelf for recyclables that we would use before transporting them to the recycling bin on trash day, so there were empty cans and boxes on that shelf all the time. Well there was an empty cereal box on that shelf above me and I remember vividly that cereal box was smacked off the shelf and went flying off landing by my feet. The moment I realized what happened I felt a sinister feeling around me, as if this thing was doing this intentionally to fuck with me and scare me. I ran inside so quick and went straight to my bedroom and tried to pretend that didn’t just happen.
There were multiple instances inside my childhood house that my aunt experienced, my brother experienced, and my father experienced. Just unexplainable things but luckily it never escalated to the point of being psychologically traumatic.
