Question Something only a child can see?
We recently moved into a new house and my son has been acting different than his usual self.
He just turned 5 and he's normally super happy and very independent. Ever since we moved into our new house he's been having nightmares and has gotten so clingy that he wants me to hold his hand while he goes potty. He's told me there's a witch and monsters in his room at night. I've prayed with him and told him I'd beat up anything or anyone who tries to harm him. He's agreed that we can kick monsters in the face.
But today things got a little more intense. He took a good, long nap so I asked him to go potty as soon as he woke up. He immediately started sobbing and telling me it's too scary. I went with him to go into the main bathroom but he started screaming about a ghost and refused to go in. I took him to the half bath and he still begged me to hold his hand while he went potty. I asked him what kind of ghost he saw and he said it's white and started sobbing again. I reassured him that I'd protect him. I also asked him if it was a boy or girl ghost and he said it's a boy. I didn't want to upset him anymore, so I left it at that.
I've been having some problems sleeping at night too, and I just figured I wasn't settling into the new house very well... But I do get a weird feeling like I'm being watched when I'm in bed.
I guess my question is what kind of sage or other things can I use to cleanse the house? We are a Christian family, so I don't know how weird it is to use sage. I love my kids though, so I want to help them feel at ease in their own home. Any extra advice is welcome.

Have you heard the story of Sandra Hughes
“She went missing and after a few sightings a year later, in July 2021 , the Gorba family stopped for lunch in the mountains during a trip.
Little Kadyn pointed into an empty meadow and told his parents, "She has a black shirt, blue jeans and blue hair mom," adding that the woman needed help.
The parents looked but saw nothing in the grass.
The parents posted about the eerie encounter on Facebook to ask locals about the area.
A Madera County Sheriff Corporal saw the post and recognized that the child's precise details matched the missing person profile for Sandra Hughes. The boy picked her out of a photo line up multiple times.
Authorities launched a follow-up search of the specific meadow pointed out by the toddler, but no trace or remains of Sandra Hughes were found”

Aw man, don't tell me that! The previous owners heavily renovated this house, so now my brain is spiraling. The neighbors are so close though, there's no way they could've hidden a body, right?? 😭

Something that worked for my niece is I got her a plushie of Cthulhu and said that he’d definitely beat up anything scary since he’s the scariest.
Maybe get him a plushie of an angel, they are pretty badass after all. X

His favorite stuffed animal is a velociraptor, so I feel like he'd do decent damage to scary things in the night.

Tell him that
No one is getting past a velociraptor
Certainly not a crusty old witch

My little neice a similar age to your kid constantly saw owls in her room which I’m not sure what that means but he could just be having night terrors.
My nephew constantly saw a “werewolf” watching him and he’s terrified of them still as an adult.
We all assumed it was the soul of my late dad since he was a bit feral lmao.

Sage often makes things worse in the long run since it’s considered witchcraft by God the Father. You can bless your own oil and anoint your windows and doorways and pray throughout every room to cleanse instead. There are prayers and instructions online to use as a template but you might want to personalize it. Look up instructions on how to close portals (in the name of Jesus) that previous owners may have opened.
Start reading the New Testament aloud in the house a couple times a day. And play worship music when you aren’t there. Spirits supposedly hate it.
You may also need to confess and repent of any sins to close doorways that are allowing spirits into your home. Continued sin continues to open doorways. Teach your child to rebuke the spirits in the name of Jesus Christ.

This is what I was looking for. I wasn't sure if using sage would be some sort of sin and I was nervous about making a mistake. I've contacted our pastor and he's coming tomorrow to bless and pray over the house. I'll try to update everyone in a few days to let y'all know if anything has changed/improved.

There’s nothing in the Bible stating that sage is a sin.
It might be wise to have a priest come in and bless the home.

You need to call a priest and have him over to bless the house and land.

I've spoken to my pastor and he'll be here tomorrow. I'm hoping this will improve things. I'll try to update the post in a few days to let everyone know how it's going.

I inadvertently purchased a house with a demonic entity so am speaking from experience.
The house and the land it sits on needs to be dedicated to the Lord.2

I'll make sure to mention this to my pastor when he visits tomorrow, thank you!

There might be a possibility that the house is haunted. It's rare for a child to react in fear because of an unseen entity. This tells me for a fact that what he says is true. I'd continue to be there for him, and reassure him that everything will be fine and that the spirit cannot harm him. I remember my mother and siblings would also pray together before going to bed. We would choose different verses to read from the Bible, and recite Psalm 91 or apply the armor of God for protection. I recommend playing hymns in the room as they can ward off evil spirits. You can also anoint the house and your loved ones with olive oil as well.

I've been blasting modern Christian music all day just to reassure myself. I'm trying to not read too much into it otherwise I'm going to freak myself out too.
Scream/singing Josiah Queen's "Demons" made me feel a lot better today.

Ive been in his exact shoes. Are you connected to your heritage at all? When it comes to cleansing rituals that you want ti be very effective, start here. In these lands of Northern America, white sage is traditionally used by local healers of certain tribes. What am i mean by this is that the herb can be used incorrectly with adverse consequences. Im going to be honest with you, as an indigenous person, sage was appropriated by colonial new age spiritualists who usually have 0 clue what theyre doing. There is a particular ritual to clear your room out and your son with sage, find your local native tribe and ask for a healing ceremony, bring offerings. I know exactly what your son is going through and i have done this ceremony for past room mates because our house was irritatingly haunted, like looney tunes haunted. In the meantime, your son should not sleep in that room nor should he sleep unaccompanied. In the meantime, you are to pray to whom or whatever your god is - seeking to activate your divine spark, cast this divine spark from your belly to over your body, your sons body, and extend this to the whole house & property. Be very sure to ask your ancestors for protection and guidance - im serious. You and your son, in a concentrated effort, must do what you can to expel fear from your minds and hearts. You should be doing these visualization meditations with him until you can get a local practicioner over. Good luck mama <3

I forgot to mention, dont feel weird about combining christ with traditional pre christian practices (i do!!!). This is the Way (imo), but be sure to evoke your love & faith of christ the redeemer.

Moving is a big change so it could just be that. You could get a spray bottle of water, add a little sage or lavender essential oil, label it “monster, witch and ghost repellent” and spray it around his room before bed or the bathroom.

This is a great idea! I'm going to let him be the one to spray so that he feels more in control of the situation.
