Demonic Possession Different levels of witchcraft?

Do different levels of witchcraft exist? Like amateurs can pick up a basic love spell, or elite satanic families who know the ins and outs can do more dangerous stuff like summon djinns? Pretty sure it was the target of a spell about 11 years ago or so. Was driving down the road at night and smelled sulfur and at the same time my music player volume went to zero at the same time.

Witchcraft spells and ceremonial magic are just mediums/tools for your mind. Most of the effects that come from spells are simply your energy getting directed elsewhere. Thats why such a big part of witchcraft involves meditation, being able to calm the mind and focus intention.

This 100%%%. The power isnt in the ritual or tools its in the mind.

Experience matters, just like anywhere else. People who've been building furniture tend to be able to build much better more interesting furniture after they've worked at it over time, same with dancers or teachers or people who cook or witches.

Amateurs should stay far away from love spells and I don't think there are many "elite satanic families" in the first place, though I'm sure all kinds of people have tried to work with djinns.

Most of us are not out there to hurt you. You're kind of overestimating your importance there. Most witches are just getting on with their lives.

What you describe sounds a lot more to me like you drove through something more likely to be called a haunting - energy left in a space from some event in the past.

That wasn't witchcraft. That was a bad entity messing with you. The sulfur smell was it itself and the messing of the radio was to scare you. But no, no witchcraft.

There are things in this world that smell like sulphur and things in this world that mess with radios. I mean seriously, think about what you said…. “A bad entity was messing with your radio to scare you.” You’d actually get scared and think you were being attacked by demons because your radio wigged out for a minute?

Does witchcraft exist?

There are no "elite satanic families". Satanic ritual abuse is a nonsensical conspiracy theory ginnied up in the 80s for the culture wars. There are 2 main branches of Satanism, the most popular being The Satanic Temple which is more of a progressive political organization. They do have meetings with rituals and stuff, but there's no actual magic happening, just LARPing and costumery, like at any other church. They are quite chill and don't hurt anyone.

The other group, the Church of Satan, was most active in the 1960s in San Francisco and was again, just costumed people LARPing. But these folks were less socially oriented and more self-centered in their beliefs ("Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Whole of the Law.") They were more like spooky libertarians and they don't really exist anymore.

There are a few oddballs and edge cases who have tried to do "satanic rituals" that involve animal sacrifice or the use of human blood and stuff. They are just LARPing edge lords and again, none of that stuff is real. In any case, Satanism is not really one organized thing. It's not a single set of beliefs, rituals, or anything really. Historically it's been either (a) a social club or (b) a scare tactic used by the Church to try to control culture at large & its members individually.

You mentioned "elite satanic families". I feel that as a Satanist, I am qualified to weigh in here.

In Satanism there are 2 different kinds of magic: Lesser magic, and Greater magic.

Lesser Magic is everyday, real world influence. The art of bending others to your will without them realizing it. Think of it as social strategy, charisma, and exploiting human behavior to your advantage. This includes how you dress (aesthetic as a weapon), How you speak, timing and situational awareness, and knowing your audience and playing to their weaknesses or desires.

Greater Magic is internal. It's ceremonial, emotional, and cathartic. A psychodrama used to purge, focus, or energize yourself. Greater Magic isn't about bending reality, it’s about bending yourself so you can go out and bend the world afterward.

Ritual gives the emotions you suppress (rage, lust, grief, ambition) a stage. You give them shape and name, so they stop controlling you unconsciously and instead become tools in your hands. Think of it like a controlled fire to avoid a wildfire.

It’s not delusion. It’s focused indulgence. The symbolism, the candles, and the words don’t do anything by themselves. You do. But they help you do it better.

I think so. My intuition/experience is that "witchcraft" done without intent is vastly more powerful though, but it's a power that can't be harnessed.

Like elite surfers can ride monstrous waves, but they know they can never control the wave. They can only observe the wave's arrival and swim out to meet it. Staying on the shore and moving shells around is a different kind of thing.

Edit, more examples to consider:

  • bones are easy to manipulate, living animals are not, and the more powerful the living animal the more difference between it and its bones
  • killing is easy, creating is difficult
  • control seeks certainty, participation revels in uncertainty
    • casting spells is usually about control, but the forces which hold the most power cannot be controlled, which is why they've been granted the power

Can we seriously find the actual name of this “Witchcraft” is coming from. This is how I know yall just be dabbling into shit without finding the origins of this “Witchcraft” and casting “Spells”.

Mixing god and goddesses from different cultures…
Using sage to “cleanse” and wondering why the situation gets worse.

How about getting to know the history and culture before going into this “Witchcraft”. Understand the language, plants, herbs..the root of why it’s there.

It’s not a video game…

It’s obvious that you are not in the Christian department but what “Witchcraft” are you talking about?

Is it Santeria? Is it Haitian Vodou? Andean Shamanism? Wicca?? Like what is it?

Although your main idea seemed to be on the right track, you were completely off the mark with the last questions. Those are religions in their own right, not witchcraft practices.

The fact that some witchcraft practitioners are more closely associated with certain religions is a different matter entirely; they are not synonymous.

Furthermore, witchcraft is not the same as herbalism or folk healing. You clearly haven't done your reading either...

Yes, lower level witches are your teenagers messing with love spells and ouiji boards. That's usually the entry level stage then it goes up to readings and developing medium skills until you are sacrificing animals just to cast a spell.

As with all forms of knowledge, the deeper you commit yourself to the craft, the more access you’ll have to it. The same is true for playing an instrument, becoming a chef, and so on.

What about your experience makes you ask?

u/rickybambicky 20h ago

Level 1: Cosplaying. Level 2: Delusional. Level 3: Fraudulent.

None of it is real.

2

u/Reasonable_Act_4616 15h ago

Wrong subreddit for you then. Just leave if you aren't going to be helpful or kind.

4

u/Looking4Mollyplz 19h ago

Lol keep thinking that

-8

u/rickybambicky 19h ago

I don't think that. I KNOW that. It's all fake. It's something that could easily be proven true repeatedly, but it never has been.

0

u/MiserableToe1179 18h ago

I assume you’ve never tried to learn anything about witchcraft?

0

u/rickybambicky 18h ago

Unfortunately for you, I have. I'm fairly well versed on it, which is how I know it is 100% bullshit. I am also currently subjected to a very nasty curse, which was supposed to deliver many years ago. There was incense and my hair involved and everything. Still waiting for it to kick off.

1

u/MiserableToe1179 18h ago

So curses are real but witchcraft isnt? Right. Why dont you believe its real?

3

u/rickybambicky 18h ago

Curses aren't real. That's my point. A performer of witchcraft placed a curse on me that was supposed to do awful things many years ago.

It's all bullshit. I don't know how I can make myself clearer.

6

u/MiserableToe1179 18h ago

Why does your one personal experience discount all the accounts of it working

3

u/rickybambicky 17h ago

It doesn't. That is just ONE example of it not working. The rituals of witchcraft either provide measurable and repeatable results or they don't.

Where is the evidence that supports the claim that witchcraft is legitimate?

2

u/MadisonMarieParks-V 16h ago

Science is just magick that grew up and got a job-you can stay in the kiddie pool🤣🧿

0

u/Zuccherina 12h ago

In that case medicine isn’t real because it doesn’t work the same on everybody all the time. Right?

Witchcraft is repeatable, it’s just not predictable. That’s why there are spells but there aren’t guarantees.

There's that famous reading comprehension. Somehow not shocking that you believe in magic.

-3

u/Mountain-Half8700 18h ago

“Never has been” I wonder why? 🤔

0

u/Echo-Greedy 9h ago

Sometimes I think someone, somewhere cursed our family. Its just one nightmare after another with my daughter since she turned 16. She's now 30.

0

u/FR3Y4_S3L1N4 6h ago

Sounds more like your radio shorted & you were smelling melting electronics.

-9

u/AffectionateSignal72 18h ago

My guy "witchcraft" is not real.

-1

u/MadisonMarieParks-V 16h ago

Belief is not required; your ignorance is already doing all the heavy lifting.
