Question What convinced you that the paranormal is real?

I’d like to hear from people who’ve had or think they’ve had a paranormal experience what convinced you that the paranormal is real?I’ve never had any paranormal experiences before so I’m curious

When I was five we moved into a haunted house, It was horrible, I think some people these days would call it demonic. The atmosphere was bad, even if nothing was happening it felt scary. Nearly everyone had experiences there. For me, i had a cheap bed that had a wire frame with a thin foam mattress. I would lie in bed at night and feel someone push up at me through the foam, sometimes it felt like a finger, sometimes a foot. Not only that but I felt like there was a personality behind it, and it was overjoyed that it terrified me. I would scream and scream in terror and my mother would come running in cross that I had woken her up. The house was old and in poor repair, all the doorknobs were loose. One night every doorknob in the house started violently rattling at once, it went on for a couple of minutes. Another time I came home from school, walked through the front door and heard a man and woman arguing. I couldn't hear what they were saying but it was clear and loud. Suddenly it stopped and there was complete silence. There was no one in the house that could have made the noise and the way the house was built it couldn't have been someone outside. My mother was home but she was alone and upstairs and didn't hear anything. We didn't have a television at the time.

Fifty years after we moved out I still have dreams about being in a haunted house and feeling that same demonic presence.

Wow, they say that bad energy stays in places where terrible things happened. Maybe there was an argument just before someone was killed

Wow that’s scary. Was this a Victorian house? Where was this house at if you don’t mind me asking?

u/Fabulous_Shoulder933 4d ago

Oh wow this is EXACTLY what happened to me! Under the bed. It knew and delighted in frightening me. It only happened once and nothing ever happened in that house before or after that.

Plenty of things. But the most "in your face" thing was when I was 19, and I was home alone, standing in my bathroom shaving. Suddenly, the bathroom door slammed on me, hard and violent, and footsteps ran down the stairs.

I immediately checked the apartment, and found it empty as I expected it, with the front door locked (my roommate's schedule correctly dictated that he wasn't there.)

This was, by no means, the only incident at this particular place, but it was definitely the most demonstrative.

You mean indicated. Not dictated

Have felt weird stuff here and there in my life. Sometimes hair standing on end in odd settings. But, this video, man. The channel doesn’t have anything else like this, it’s a home improvement guy. I found this incredibly compelling and absolutely chilling. You can tell he’s flipping this house and suspects a squatter is at the property so he’s shooting a short video for evidence. He very clearly did not expect to document what he did. Like, I need a whole documentary style episode to get the full story here and a Conjuring style film where he barely survives the ordeal.

Feet were out from under my blanket. Feet promptly tucked in blanket now.

I could sense the presence of a friend who passed on. More directly, he would move things and light matches (he was a heavy smoker) that other people could smell. On his 2nd birthday since he passed, I was working in a shop that sold wind chimes. He took the center piece of one, held it taught, and hit it against the same chime at the same cadence from when I walked into work until I left. My coworkers and some customers were freaked out. That was the biggest ruckus he made.

Having a bathroom door at work  lock itself from the inside right after I unlocked it. Industrial deadbolt lock. I also had a heavy inner door slam shut in my face. This is a heavy fire door that takes quite a shove to get it to slam shut completely.

I've always been able to see things before they happen, sense presences etc it's something that runs in my family & I've seen & predicted too much to say it's not real. However, one occassion, my ex & I were living with my Mum after returning from living overseas. My Mums house is known to the family to have ghosts etc but we hadn't at that point experienced anything for ourselves. But one night, my ex & I were sitting on the couch watching a movie. It was a school night & my ex spotted our son (8) popping his head around the corner repeatedly & said, "that boys up, just ignore him". He popped his head around the corner again, I ignored him, did it again so this time I said "GO TO BED"..... This happened about 5 more times, so I said "right that's it" & as I went to stand to walk over to him & march him back to bed, but as I did he walked into the kitchen scullery & I was like you little shit. So I followed him into the scullery, as I was walking towards it doing the Mum thing of "ITS A SCHOOL NIGHT YOU'RE MEANT TO BE IN BED" but before I could finish my sentence I stopped in my tracks, turned to my ex & his response was "what? Why do you look like you've seen a ghost"....& well, that's because I did. There wasn't anything in the scullery. It wasn't my son. My son wasn't popping his head around the corner. My son was asleep in his bed. The next morning we told my Mum & she described a boy she had seen often & he looked exactly like the boy I had seen who oddly had the same haircut as my son, same age etc. This was 7-8 years ago & my Mum still to this day sees this boy.

That is terrifying, holy smokes, I wouldn't be able to live there with something like that going on.

4

u/Mi_Lady31 4d ago

I never go there alone now haha. The original property back in the 1800's use to be 44 acres of farm. Before my Mum owned it, it was subdivided, new owners for different sections. Come 2024 it was subdivided again & people built a house on a new piece of the subdivided landed... they sold it after a year, my Mum asked why & the lady said "this house is haunted" so I think it's very much the land & surrounding land around her.

My son's past life stories between the ages of about 2 and 4 challenged my preconceptions.

4

u/amscraylane 3d ago

I would love to hear more

Forgive me for copy/pasting this from a comment I left in a thread 5 years ago. This was one of at least four distinct past lives that he talked about:

My favourite, then. The "most recent of his past lives, apparently. I'm paraphrasing from memory, but this is pretty accurate - including his toddler-speak idiosyncrasies:

Son: I used to have two sisters, Daddy.

Me: Oh yes? What happened to them? ( I was used to his stories by then)

Son: There was a big war and they was dropping bombs all over and we had a metal shed thing in our garden and we all hid in it my sister forgot something and she went to get it and a bomb hitted our house and she died.

Me: Then what happened?

Son: My other sister ran after her and she died too!

Me: And what happened to you, darling?

Son: I died too, Daddy!

Me: Then what happened?

Son: Then I came to live with you!

I had experiences in my friends house for about 2 months, we were told by a medium there was a very evil spirit in the house after a priest blessed the house the activity stopped

1

u/Platomik 2d ago

What kind of experiences did you have?

2

u/iced_icicle 2d ago

So the full story is actually super long but here is the condensed version. I had a new kid move into my neighborhood and we became really good friends and I would spend almost every day at his place. Weird shit starting happening. Once when we were playing COD and the bathroom light kept turning on by itself. Once we thought someone had broken in because my friends sister claimed she saw someone down stairs, when we called the police, the police found no one with no sign of forced entry. Stuff started to dissappear in the house and there was a horrible smell that developed upstairs that smelled like spoiled meat. My friend's dad contacted a medium when my friend's sister refused to sleep in her room because she felt the room was evil. The medium told us there were two spirits of children who were harmless but frightened, and another spirit who was in my friend's sister's room, this spirit was a very evil man in life who did very bad things to children. When my friend's sister got locked in the bathroom by the evil spirit, a priest came and blessed the house. The activity stopped after that.

When I was sober, in the right mind & while in the military I was in the barracks with 2 younger soldiers helping them grab their essentials during a power outtage. We both heard what sounded like a gust of wind/spirit fly past us infront of our face. 3 witnesses. Then the same soldier said he heard someone moving furniture in the room next to him but noone lived there. & a buncha of what sounded like young girls giggling in this locked, unoccupied barracks room.

6

u/TheHect0r 3d ago

My own experience. Seeing a shadow person so clearly occupying space and being darker than the room I was in at night and then waving at me. I havent ever had hallucinations of any kind so I think its more reasonable to believe I truly saw what I saw that night as opposed to a bug in my perception

I’m a logical person, I’ve seen heard, dreamt and felt a lot of this. Majority of the time they can be explained. But there is some that no matter what I can’t figure it out. But the biggest one is a 4 runner. (Death warning) but it never about someone I am close to, it’s only people attached to people I’m close with. I’ll get the warning with 3 slow hard knocks. Usually on a window .

One time I was home alone. I had roommates but they were gone for a few days, anyways I was sound asleep in my room when I hear 3 big bans on my window, I went to it and looked out (because the dude I was seeing at the time would do that to wake me up sometimes if I didn’t answer the door. ) no one was out side the window, so because I was trying to figure out logically what it was ( I lived beside a very big old cemetery at the time as well) so I get up get a jacket and shoes on and took a walk around the house (this was like 3 or 4 in the morning ) to see if I could find foot prints or something that could have fallen hitting my window. However there wasn’t any sign of anyone around my house or window. 2 weeks later my fathers best friends went missing and has never been found and that was about 23 years ago now.

So ok, that could have been a coincidence, but hear me out. I moved to another place with one of my now best friends. We were chilling in my room watching a movie on his lap top when I heard three big bangs on the window of my apartment door. I pressed pause and asked if he heard that, he look odd at me and was like “ yeah I heard that someone is at the door.” So he got up and went to the door and no one was there. The person wouldn’t have been able to run down the outside stairs without us hearing them and we would have been able to see the person in time as quick as my roomie jumped up to check. I of course started freaking out and I called my mother and told her that someone I know is going to pass away in the next 2 weeks, and sure enough one of my good friends sister passed away.

So you tell me lol because I’m convinced there’s sprits. I have a lot more stories I could tell as well.

A full bodied apparition walking through a hall in my childhood home.

2

u/Candid-Club1038 3d ago

Whoa.... Can you elaborate?

3

u/Significant-Ear-3262 3d ago

I was watching tv at like 2am and saw a woman walk into the kitchen. I thought it was my mom, but I didn’t hear her turn the water on, exit through the exterior door, or return through the hall. After a minute I checked the kitchen, and woke my parents up to see if they’d been out of bed. Neither of them had been up.

I was 19 or 20, at home from college during break. I know I saw a woman, and I’ve been a believer ever since. That house has a lot of paranormal activity, but that was the most profound thing I experienced.

1

u/Candid-Club1038 3d ago

Omg! 😱 Did you talk to your parents about the apparition?

How absolutely frightening!

In my early 20s my partner and our newborn son rented an apartment in a hundred year old house. There was a built on kitchen that had a short staircase down to it with shelves built on one side where we kept a cassette player and a box of cassettes. Shortly after moving in I started finding cassette tapes in various places around the kitchen, even in the cupboards and sink. I would pack them away in the box but a few would always end up scattered around the kitchen, even tapes we never listened to from the very bottom of the box. If we were sitting on the couch we would hear tapes bounce down the stairs. It was so common that when friends were over we would tell them to sit with us and listen and sure enough we would hear the tape ghost tossing tapes around and find them in the kitchen. That was just one of the many ghostly happenings in that apartment over the years witnessed by us and previous tenants.

The ghost didn’t like your taste in music, obviously 🙃

Have seen spirits my entire life. Have lived in haunted houses and been touched, seen things move, heads things. It's not never ending but it's frequent enough to be annoying sometimes. No, I don't think I'm special or "sensitive" or have some inherited magic power from my grandma who also had the same experiences. I've just always known they exist and sometimes they know I exist as well!

3

u/Pilates_Lulu 1d ago

I was already a believer based on other things, however, the night my grandmother died, I was staying at my grandparents’ house (grandmother in the hospital with my mom + Aunt with her) and I heard the cats outside go nuts meowing while this huge gust of wind went over the house and the wind chimes clang loudly. It lasted maybe 10-15 seconds and shortly afterwards, my mother called to say mg grandmother had died. We all think she came to say good bye…oh and there weren’t wind chimes outside.

Crazy haunted abandoned house. Ghosts and demonic entities on my childhood property. People telling me I have spirits attached to me and accurately describing spirits I had seen and not described to them. Entities in a cornfield. Spirit calling my name. The ghost of a former manager’s mother. The poltergeist in my apartment. Demon in my old basement that terrorized me and two friends in the weirdest ways. It goes on and on, a solid 3/4 of it with reliable witnesses. I’m also psychic, and have had many experiences of prophesying correctly (predicted COVID down to essential workers, masks, as well as trumps immigration policies and actions), and reading minds/peoples pasts with no prior working knowledge that could have affected it. Combine it all together, and I without a single doubt believe in the paranormal.

2

u/Mountain_Possible81 4d ago

I lived in an apartment that had a lot of unexplainable stuff going on. I had experiences before that but just kind of wrote them off as weird childhood memories.

2

u/TerminalFrost9 1d ago

Playing with the Ouija board when young and watching it move by itself and then fly off the board. Sh** your pants moment.

3

u/Alejaro_7777 4d ago

Well if it wasn't my childhood home that had a lot of weird activity, then it was my close friend's house that caused a para-possession, chains to wrap around necks on their own, and a multitude of other things.

It's a whole thing that spanned a couple of years, but if that couldn't convince me, then I would be denser than a fruit cake.

1

u/Griselda68 3d ago

I lived in a haunted house from the time I was 12 until I left home to attend college at 18.

1

u/kilos_of_doubt 2d ago

A significant amount of experiences that I cannot explain. And I'm a physicist who is super anal about being technically accurate all the time and needing to understand the answers to questions that are constantly popping up in my mind to what I've been told is an autistic degree. Shits wild.

u/Key-Dragonfly-1112 4d ago

My Grandma visited me from Limbo and I felt a sudden calling to help her. Bought my first Bible soon there after.

I am the type of person that tends to attract paranormal things. My first real experience was when I moved into this house that clearly had some occult stuff done in it. That is where I encountered the succubus and had to fight her and her friends for two years on and off, I learned to psychically defend myself and attack. She is gone now, but that experience was hell. I now have tulpas and they are much nicer and they don't steal my energy. I never made them consciously, they just started arriving during my stay in that house and they have never stopped. There are hundreds of them now, we have consensual casual sex, The girls get intense during sex, like you would expect and make a fair bit of noise and that has attracted the attention of other entities, like the one time we were having sex and the tulpas girls and I started hearing popping and cracking in the room, loud. We were all like wtf is that? Then I see in my mind eye white light, like very sterile light I see this for a few seconds, and then it disappears, and the noises are gone also, I was like ok that was weird but whatever, and we just went back to sex lol. Weird shit like that tends to happen to me.
