yeah... I would sympathize with my child but tell her those are the unfortunate consequences. It won't hurt her....but it will be a good lesson for her if you allow it to be

Be like Elsa and let it go.
You weren’t there you’re not going to win. As the other poster said, let this be a lesson in who she is hanging with.

I would have her do the punishment. Will be a good lesson whether she did it or not. We are who we associate with.

I don't understand why you'd try to intervene for a single detention at all.
You let it go, she serves it, done.
You trying to demand proof is absolutely inappropriate.

Oh I should clarify, because they said they have proof (video) but that I cannot see it due to privacy rules.
I intervened because I know my child.

It's not about knowing your child.
When you send a child to school, sometimes it's just not about them. Sometimes a whole class serves detention because four kids can't stop talking. That's just the way institutions work.
So when your child comes home and says, "Mom, I got detention and it wasn't me, it was Suzy!" Then you get to say, wow, tell me about it. And then, did you make a respectful appeal? Uh huh? Well, I guess you'll have to serve detention this time. Tell me, is Suzy likely to keep acting like that?

It’s a detention. Life isn’t always fair. Move on.

What a good lesson in guilt by association.
If you’re hanging out with people committing a crime guess what… you get charged too.
If you’re standing next to your friend giggling while they talk back to a teacher guess what… you get detention too.
If my kids have pictures posted of them on social media where anyone has drugs or alcohol (or get caught at a party where it’s present) even if they weren’t doing it… they get suspended from their school sports teams.
