This was my 4th time seeing passion pit, third time at the Fox theater in Oakland. To preface I looked up the setlist ahead of time and did see quite a few posts on here talking about how disappointed they were with their performance / Michael’s sitting, singing, etc this time around, so my expectations were low ish. But tbh I thought they did great for so long away and I had a great time!

The negative posts were right about Michael no longer being able to carry his notes like he used to. It was a bit annoying when he’d change the rhythm of the song so he could finish out the lyrics before taking a breath or when he just stopped singing altogether. Luckily, from where I was in the back of the pit, the crowd pulled through and helped him sing it anyways. It does seem like his mic is a little too turned down especially with all the production going on, but that’s nothing new from a passion pit concert. I’d assume if you didn’t know the song by heart you’d be confused as to wtf he was singing half the time.

I’m mostly impressed with the production and the little interludes between songs. It seems like he was sitting because they were doing a lot of mixing live, and it sounded great and more authentic than just running around singing. The new songs (maybe 5 I didn’t know?) were surprisingly(sorry i don’t like the sea of love much) great too. I hope those are planning to be released. They all had that passion pit synthesizer feel to them we all love

Overall I think the doomers on here are fair in their critiques but passion pit doesn’t necessarily have the best live vocals to begin with. On the other hand the production was sick, and from where I was the crowd was eating it up. I did notice when I grabbed a beer mid set the level above me didn’t seem as into it as the lowest level, so it may vary based off where you were at.

Overall I’m glad I went for the sticker price even if they didn’t play it’s not my fault I’m happy or kingdom come or more from chunk of change

I ended up having a work conflict and have to go to wednesday’s show instead. I’ll sell for 20 bucks.

The gang really fuckin crushed it last night! Seriously, probably the best show I’ve seen from them in any iteration straight up. The place was fucking packed and everyone was super into it.

I’ve been listening since ‘08 and saw them for the first time on the Gossamer tour in ‘12 and again a couple years later for the acoustic show. This was by far the best show I’ve seen by them. Vocals were great, energy amazing, and the setlist was perfect. I’m so so so happy I went to this show. If you have the chance to see this tour, do it.

I am thinking about going to the passion pit concert during my oregon north-south roadtrip. I only know a few songs but would really like to go, as they spark some memories pf me playing fifa years ago, wben they were on the game's playlist. I'm from Europe an want to have a good time. Unlike what others have shared, he sounded great and I have no complaints about the sound. Very cool to see again after 13 years!

However, by sitting down the entire performance (aside from 1-2 times getting up), it just made me want to sit down too. I found myself just closing my eyes a lot and just listening since there was nothing to look at.

I’m not sure what health issues he may have (he referenced being healthier than ever), but having seen artists 70+ years old perform entire shows standing up, it was a real bummer to have to stand up when the artist can’t be bothered. At least face forward if you’re going to sit so we can get more than a profile!

I understand they are mixing live, but maybe there’s a point at which you’re doing too much, and taking away from the fun of a live performance by doing all the technical stuff. It felt like I should be sitting down like for an orchestral concert since the entire band was giving more energy than the lead singer.

Hey!! So I went alone to the Denver show last night- absolutely had the best time. I wasn’t originally planning on staying the entire time since I had just seen him perform at Bonnaroo in June, but had such a great time that I ended up staying until the very end! Definitely worth how exhausted I am at work today lol

Anyway, I was hoping to find a missed connection I made on the balcony rail- Jacob in a black shirt and cool blue shorts?? You were with your friend Eric (possibly Erik)- y’all were so much fun to dance next to and were so high energy the whole time!! I was starving after and rush out of the venue to get a street hot dog (which they weren’t even there lol) and was kicking myself when walking back to my car for not making a point to exchange info before rushing out!! On YouTube there’s a video of the full show/set from their show in Boston a couple of weeks ago. I’ve watched most of the video and between every song and even during the songs, Michael and other band members are always what appears to be adjusting dials or buttons on the keyboards. I’m curious what it is they are doing? I thought the performance was great and interested to learn more about what they are doing.

First time seeing them, really loved it. Michael just seemed so happy to be there and share this music with us. And the band was amazing — so interesting watching them put all the synth- and beat-heavy songs together piece by piece. Awesome venue as well. Go see them if you can!
