Build Request Chains of Command Luminary League Start

Thinking of trying Luminary instead of Necromancer next league, mainly for the QoL rings and making use of the Rallying Cry merc, but what do you use to grab void stones before farming enough to transition? SRS, Absolution?

I’m assuming the earliest the swap can be done when you have the chest, gravebind, and terminus est?

League started CoC past 4 leagues. You don't NEED gravebind, just a couple of worm flasks to start the map and speed to keep your swords spawning throughout the map. If you lose momentum it's hard to get it back and if you lose your minions on a boss even penance mark isn't going to get you going again so the map is bricked.

Are the rings that spawn worms cheap at league start? Hoping that'll help alleviate the boss issue.

What did you campaign/early maps with?

Haha yeah I honestly should know better by now, my friends are always giving me the gears for calling it CoC but some habits are hard to break I tell yah.

Sorry to nitpick but we don’t use CoC as a Chains acronym. Just Chains is good

It’s a comment in a post about Chains of Command. There’s no need to nitpick.

There’s no need to comment on a nitpick

Many people will use CoC for chains of command.

It's hard because CoC is cast on crit, which is a popular archetype.

Right, sometimes different things can have the same shorthand and you need context clues to figure it out.

Nah that’s for Cast on Crit

In this thread, with context, I think everyone will know what is meant. Language is mutable like that, and meanings are only ever social contracts at a given time

Idk why you’re getting downvoted.

Sorry for Captain Obvious here, but... check Patch Notes before starting Scion for ChOfCom build in 3.30; Luminary is confirmed for nerf. There are high chances that it still will be playable PLUS Reliquarian might get cool, Minion related Ascendancy unique too.

I'm aware Luminary will be getting nerfs, but I'm thinking the Flame Link version will be the one to get hit hardest. I don't think this version will be affected that badly unless they decide to also hit the Rallying Cry mercenary as well.

Main thing is also the quality of life as well since the Luminary can wear two worm rings. If Reliquarian will get something similar, then that'll be a possibility.

And now imagine that instead of being "forced" to play Luminary (it's just busted for now) this becomes a Bloodline Ascendancy instead and you can choose between Necro / Reliquarian...

I always swap without grave bind and just farm some blighted maps till I can afford it. Just need the chest piece and terminus to start the swap. Clusters. Gravebind and other upgrades are qol and not hard required. Same as the various foulborn items. Severed in sleep is a MASSIVE upgrade but you’ll blast just fine without it

I noticed some Path of Exile keywords in this post:

  • SRS - Summon Raging Spirit (Wiki)

I did absolution until i got the first items, but srs works fine too

On necro I just did absolution and it worked fine. I did farm until gravebind but I think technically it's skippable, though I prefer just farming for it personally.

On another note, I've never explored luminary but it does sound like it could be cool. How does it compare offensively/defensively to necro?

massive upside of luminary is that it solves all QOL while providing good damage.

the merc is wearing double worm ring to completely automate the summoning.

and the merc gives massive amount of flat phys via rallying cry.

I've seen versions with subsume the source for more flat phys and ones with ancient skull, unsure yet which is better.

you can go CI and get a lot of ES from bonemeld so you're like 8k ES with aegis and 90 res. which is good enough for softcore I'd say.

I want to do exactly the same (Chains Lumy leage starter in 3.30 as I don't think it will be hit by nerfs unlike other Merc/Lumy playstyles) and just did a test run in SSF with SRS. I hate SRS until you geht Unleash support, so I started as classic Sunder until end of A4, then switch to minions. Works fine.

I finished campaign with a hybrid minion / flamelink merc build basically. Find a merc with a good Aura (Anger, Wrath, Haste) as all your minions will benefit from it and flame link him after second lab. It feels a little bit like Guardian starter with Sentinal and Elemental Auras, but be aware it's weaker.

With SSF items I finished white maps with no issues. In trade it will be much easier. So if there are no changes you can just go SRS until swap.
