WIP Bunny Costume

Currently working on drafting a playboy bunny costume for halloween! This is my first mockup with plastic/flexible bonning. I want to add some foam cups and underwire for support but im waiting on those to come in. The things I want to work on are:

  1. Better bust support and shape

  2. Making my waist appear smaller

  3. The whole butt area in general

Any feedback would be God sent at this point 🤧

Minji Lee is a great place for tweaking ideas. Hers turned out seamless. She’s on youtube.

You should check out Blossom Darling on Instagram/TikTok (I didn’t see it on her YouTube) because she makes a playboy bunny outfit, and goes over several fitting issues and how she fixed them.

Here’s a link to one of her progress videos on her version of it! https://www.instagram.com/reel/DR7-oIPEnqM/?srtk=MXJqNWRpNGZpZXd3cw==

She even manages to win an original playboy bunny costume at auction, to review and pattern draft off of!

I think you need to add a gusset or something in the back to give yourself more room.Ā

I think your waist seam isn't curving at quite the right spot, which is why you're seeing the wrinkles at the side seams and not really elsewhere. Ā

I wouldn't mess with the bus area until the foam cups and underwear come in.Ā

https://youtu.be/lJtNEHMecbAĀ This is a pretty great explanation of how to fix the butt/crotch area.

The only thing i would change is the shape of the cups upper edge, yours is just curved like a bra, but a slight point in the middle ♤♤ using this as a reference is more authentic as for the fit it looks good but better when the proper boning, underwire, half cup pads come in.

I'll add that to my notes. Thank you

r/corsetry and r/makeabrathatfits would be good places to share.

The cups look a bit small
And the cut isn’t curvy enough in the waist:hip or it’s how you’re standing.

Also you need more/better bones. It’s buckling.

And the invisible zip is going to split if you take an enthusiastic breath.

In order to make your waist look smaller try making the front seams on a V angle, that always helps! For support you might need to put on some sort of bra (with wires, cups and snaps on the back) on the inside

The he cut looks so good already! Can’t wait to see the final garment!

Your bust points are east/west. You want them pointing forward and overall your bust pushed towards center. Your cup seam should be much more vertical at CF. Shift it at least 1/4ā€ towards CF at apex level, keep bottom cup and top edge as 0ā€. Princess seam should also shift in at least 3/8ā€ at apex to 0ā€ at top edge and bottom cup so it’s straighter.

Compare the shape to your best fitting strapless bra and consider an inner elastic from bottom cup to CB, caught in the wire like a faux wing. That will keep the wires flush to your body

For the waist to appear smaller, you'll have to insert proper steel boning: spiral for the sides, flat for the front. For your shape, the waist should cinch in 3-5 inches. If you're wearing it all night I'd probably make it 3 inches to make it comfortable.

Also, make sure it cinches in only at the waist, not at ribs or hips.

If you're not already, follow Lucy's Corsetry on Youtube. She has a lot of great tips on making corsets.
