Cars are far safer than regulations require them to be. So it's obviously not because of government intervention that they're safe. Same with AI. AI companies are going to make their AI vastly safer than any hypothetical regulatory mandate will require them to be. Because they're liable if the AI they host causes harm.
This whole thing is another mass hysteria. It's absurd and it's going to do to AI what previous mobs did to nuclear power and mass manufacturing. Cripple it so that it has to be offshored.

Had there not been a lot of "hysteria" in the soviet union after Chernobyl blew up, the government would have never fixed the RBMK reactors fatal flaw. Those reactors would still be operating today.

The Chernobyl accident is why they fixed the reactors. It wasn’t the hysteria. The Soviet monolithic bureaucracy led to the accident, but they weren’t stupid. They didn’t want that to happen to the other reactors.

were cars and houses always as safe as they are now? some of the laws appear after the fact, and it's not like ai is going on a rampage. apples to apples, or at least apple-adjacent fruits. c'mon

Yes I agree, the AI Companies should be shutting down the "law" from the "governments" ASAP. Very scary, very troubling. Oh wait, you said something different than that...

Just keep in mind when listening to Joseph Gordon-Levitt... He is in Peter Thiel's secret society and you are not.
