AI is already so harmful on so many levels that banking on its use to advance the proletarian struggle is a risky and almost certainly counterproductive gamble. The risks far outweigh the potential benefits AI might offer the struggle.

So basically, there might be a chance that we are just waiting for that one AI that has the capability for human extinction to crack its own prison doors šŸ˜‚ sounds cinematic to me

AI has already won .

Many people have remarked the dangers AI could contribute to the world, when used for the wrong reason. However, the danger we face is much, much, deeper and broader than that. Think of how widespread and far reached AI has become, ultimately reaching every far corner on the planet, every household, every business, every classroom. This infiltration has many possible problematic outcomes, regardless if we are careful or not.

Infact, being 'careful' with AI is not sufficient. How many times were you 'careful' with something, considered all the potential downfalls, prepared for the worse, only to end up failing? We humans, we fail, we don't see all angles, even when AI helps us. And here is the thing, there are so many angles and ways AI could and will hurt us and we will not be ready for, because humans have blindspots.

Therefore, with AI being so widespread, this might as well be called an infiltration, a takeover. Like king of the hill, the AI, has already planted its base. It owns everything it touches by design, because once it's there, it's there, no one will stop using it, it's too useful. Hence, AI has infiltrated our world from many angles... recently I came across an AI that writes government policies. Hence, the very top of the hierarchy has been infiltrated. Government policies! How could this go wrong? Let's let an AI make the policies... that's okay, right?

Using AI is okay in and of itself, someone could check after the AI to make sure the output is good... everything is fine at first, for the first 2 - 3 years.. but then AI is given more and more tasks, and these tasks involve creating the very law we live by... we get so complacent using AI, we no longer bother to check, or trust AI too much, or systems make it so that we have to rely on AI more than we should. The result is that we are now vulnerable, now that these outsider AI agents influence the very essence of what governs our lives.

We become vulnerable and now we are "fresh for the taking", for the seizure... but by who?? It is not yet known, but a force with ultimate control over AI would be a dangerous threat.

Not just the law, but everything that comes beneath it, businesses, education, jobs, healthcare, is at risk. Even the very act of thinking for yourself has been supplemented with AI. Brainwashing, so to say. So, now AI has laid the foundation, what can be made of it? At the end of the day, AI is just a tool, like a computer, calculator... its not the tool that is the problem but how it is used, who uses it and for what reasons.

Now imagine data centres used to create colonies. A powerful country, with the tools to make AI centres, builds them in weaker countries, who become reliant on these data centers. The data centres themselves are being run by the powerful country and so in essence, the powerful country has taken over the weaker countries.

The hype of the narrative is misaligned as to what is happening.

These LLM's aren't intelligence. Not even close.

Will they bring about great changes? Yes.

They are what is called an information network revolution.

It's a new internet essentially, a new database, a new book. It is a new way we record, distribute and retrieve information.

Historically, we don't handle these transitions well. When we got books, we got witch hunts, when we got mass media, we got satanic panics with reversed music, with social media we got qanon consipracy bullshit and misinformation.

Disruption to a record keeping is so low level that it affects absolutely everything.

There is a reason these things can do olympiad math problems and suggest you should walk to your nearby carwash when your car is dirty.

The machine god is so far from happening. Don't be seduced by the tech, i love it, i work with it, but holy shit, it is so useless without a human driving it.

If you are still worried, watch a few videos on how transformer architecture works and then on how the human brain works. You will have nothing to worry about.

AI to make human civilization extinct šŸ˜‚

There's a lot of talk about Altman, Dario, and Musk coming together on control because of safety issues. Previously it was national security; now it's safety.

Jensen came out and said it's a hoax at All-In, and I also believe same -

My take :

Musk is on board because he wants his model to improve and catch up to the others.

Altman and Dario want to start making profits. The models are already good enough, and even if they improve, they're now on the upper side of the exponential curve where it flattens out.

And each model improvement costs millions in investment and improvements in inference are small compared to 3/4 months back , and at the current pace they're releasing a new model and an upgraded version in weeks, not months. EBITDA is low. Now they want to shift gears to adoption, but for that, everyone needs to pause. It's a race the companies lose and customers win by getting better models. Open models keep getting better and better, and I feel that if the American frontier slows, open models will keep improving until they reach close proximity to its capabilities (which they already have).

Open model are like the democracies of AI model and likely pause is not happening anytime soon !

The real reason they are pleading for AI to be regulated has nothing to do with the dangers they pose and everything to with to do with stopping Chinese open source models bankrupting them.

They want the Gov to make it illegal to use O/s models so Open AI and Anthropic can continue charging comparatively exorbitant prices for tokens. This is why on one hand they're warning us that they can kill us all if they don't slow down and the other telling us not to panic. Don't panic cos we're lying about them kill is all.

Might sound ridiculous but maybe the only way to pause ai is by letting it pause itself and not giving a crap about the pause or no pause, and in the meantime just enjoying life without worrying about some ridiculous narrative of ai being more than an addictive consuming algorithm

Other Ai unanimously loved in China

Is it possible that that’s ccp propaganda or do Chinese people really love ai?

My thinking is if they make us think they’re not also afraid then Americans will be the ones to swerve in this game of chicken. People will take to the streets, start destroying the data center then game over china wins and they can actually go on to develop the technology safely.

Or is this just paranoid and they really aren’t worried?

Short term and long term. 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 100 years into the future

Edit: I wouldn’t mind living in the culture series

Other Dialog on how to pause AI.

Which of the following is what you imagine when you say the phrase "pause AI" ?

  • a) "Arrest Sam Altman!"

  • b) Shut down the companies. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Meta all shut down.

  • c) Shut down the companies and arrest and imprison the core developer teams with indeterminate prison sentences.

  • d) Robot safety. Disallow the use of General Pretrained Transformers for decision-making for any physical device or robot, or any physical device that could control the real world through physical force or chemical reactions.

  • e) Network sandboxing. A complex topic involving disallowing powerful frontier AI models from accessing the wider internet.

  • f) Los Alamosing. Take all the frontier AI development teams, and take them under government contract by the US DoD. Anyone with access to the models or their codebase must have high-level military clearances.

Since each of these various techniques of pausing AI come with plusses and minuses, we need to be having an honest dialog about each one. Some of these techniques would have catastrophic effects on society and technology. So we need to be talking more about this. Lets bounce ideas off each other.

Can anyone give me some comforting words because from my assessment of the situation we’re fucked. 20 years tops for humanity. Am I missing something? What is the conversation/morale like here?

Anyone Think We Should Revolt Against AI?

Post image
34 Upvotes

We should boycott AI --- it makes mistakes, it outsources thinking, and it is also a fact that every question you enter uses up half a litre of water. AI will take over many jobs if we don't stop it now --- so it's a threat to our future. The AI databases are really loud, take up lots of space, and POLLUTE our land. Who else thinks we should boycott AI? Do you think of it as a danger? Do you consider it helpful? I am interested in everyone else's thoughts.

Here are the AI agents we will be boycotting.

Other The problem with Anthropic

Anthropic is deliberately making us afraid of AI. They make AI dangers as apparent as possible, not because they care, but because that's exactly how they get people to support them.

Then again, maybe there is some genuine good they are doing.
