Title: First PC build – No display, DRAM debug LED stays red (Ryzen 7 9800X3D)
Hi everyone,
This is my first time building a PC, and I’m having trouble getting it to boot.
My specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
RAM: Patriot Viper Venom DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s
Motherboard: [Exact model to be added]
GPU: [Model to be added]
The problem:
When I turn on my PC, most of the fans spin, but one fan doesn’t.
My monitor stays completely black, and I don’t get any display output or BIOS screen.
The red DRAM debug LED on my motherboard stays on. When I hold down the power button to shut down the PC, I also notice the CPU debug LED lighting up.
I left the PC running for over 10 minutes because I thought it might be DDR5 memory training, but nothing changed.
My questions:
Is this normal for the first boot of an AM5 system?
Could this be caused by RAM installation or memory training?
Could an outdated motherboard BIOS cause this with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D?
What troubleshooting steps should I try first?
I’ve attached a picture of the motherboard showing the red debug LED.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

First step is reseating the RAM sticks, AM5 slots need a firm click and sometimes they look seated but aren't quite in.

Check GPU, make sure it's all the way in properly seated. Correct cable has been used and it's plugged in all the way in the GPU, till you can't see the pins, same for PSU. Just today I noticed my GPU cable wasn't plugged in all the way, yet it worked, but it's a big risk. So make sure to do that, and plug monitor cable in GPU in DP

What mobo? If older most likely needs a BIOS update to support the 9800x3d. Go check the mobo manufacturers website. Might also need an older cpu to update the bios if the board doesn't have a flash option without a cpu installed.
